    What's Your Point?
    Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer a painting with a focal point of view. This BobBlast helps you determine where to place the focal point in your painting.
For me, the focal point is definitely considered in the overall design composition established at the beginning of the painting. I feel that a painting with no focal point wanders and spins around. My eye doesn't know where it is supposed to go.
The focal point can be designated by the composition, the color and at the point of the most contrast. In today's demo, I use the Golden Section composition (1/3 • 1/3 • 1/3) - it's a great place to start! I divide the painting into thirds… like a tic tac toe grid. Where the lines intersect easily show where to place your focal point. Choose only one focal point, not all four!
Also, before I begin the painting, I choose the color of the focal point area from my Goof-Proof Color Wheel. I follow the four colors for the entire painting from this wheel. I call it "goof-proof" because it works if I follow it! The color combinations are automatically predetermined by the spinner. Besides, the four color combinations are pleasing to me!
In my studio hangs a sign - FOCUS. Nice to be gently reminded for the painting too.
Watch the video - I work on two paintings - establishing the focal point and the color combo at the very beginning. Materials include Kilimanjaro watercolor paper and Holbein Artist Acrylic Paint in these colors to correspond to my Goof-Proof Color Wheel:
    •Hansa Yellow
    •Marigold
    •Luminous Opera
    •Primary Magenta
    •Compose Blue #2
    •Cerulean Blue
    •Ultramarine Deep

Oh my gosh Bob you are so funny when you said you don't have to worry about one single painting when you have 20 more of the same painting to do!!! I got a good laugh and that's exactly what I need to do.. I freeze over one painting when I should lay out 20 more...! Thanks Bob for the blast of laughs!!!

Good morning Mr Burridge and thank you very much for your wonderful lessons. I discovered your channel only some days ago and you have opened me another world!! May I ask what kind of protecting cream you use for your hands? Greetings from Italy.

    Great video Bob, very helpful.
Could you please tell me where you got the colour wheel? Or perhaps how one would be able to find the focal point colour, and spice colours on a wheel? Is the focal point colour what is also called the complement colour?

    • @RobertBurridge
      @RobertBurridge 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you! The color wheel that I used in this BobBlast is one I developed, based on the Munsell Color System. You can order it from my website - robertburridge.com - Cheap Joe's also carries it.

Right? It's like they insist that not using their words is somehow wiser. Call me a dunce. I need you to form an argument with your words. I still don't get the point.
