    All I'm gonna say is everyone here needs to get themselves a 1911. It doesn't matter if it's in 45 ACP, 9mm, 10mm, or whatever, just get one. Once you get one or shoot one, you'll see why they are still super popular and amazing guns.

      I was like "any gun is better than no gun". So I got a Canik 9mm for $400 new in a case with 2 18 round mags. Good deal, but someday I want a 1911. Steel does beat plastic in so many ways, but plastic is lighter and... and... is that all? Cheaper I guess?

    My reasons for owning a 1911pistol chambered in 9mm:
    1. I did not want to buy another type of ammo
    2. I wanted to learn how 1911 works and learn how to break it down
    3. The price and quality were right (Citadel $400 from Phillipines)
    4. It is very friendly to shoot, great for just having fun or for teaching kids or beginners.

      @gui-texzan7477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm all for you grabbing another 1911, but I'm skeptical about the .30 Super Carry. I just don't understand the need for a cartridge which falls between a .380 and 9mm in the power department. If I'm carrying a full size 1911 -- I'm opting for all the knock-down power I can get. If you can control the .45 ACP, it's the best bet in single stack. If not, I can see benefits to less recoil with cheap (9mm) ammo, but don't have an appetite for expensive ammo.

    I have a collection of 1911's. Maybe a dozen? A few more? 5 years ago I had no 1911's. My buddies always told me, once you buy one 1911, you won't be able to stop at just one! They were absolutely correct. Most of mine are 45 ACP to include a WWI and WWI 1911. And I was snobbish about a 1911 chambered in anything other than 45 ACP. But I do have 1911's now in 45, 9mm, and 10mm. I love them all. Have to say, a midsize 1911 in 9mm is a pretty fine carry gun. Thanks for sharing as usual!

    When the army switched from the 1911 to the m9 as standard issue sidearm, aside from the complaints about the pistol itself, most didn't trust the punch of 9mm. Ammo has evolved a lot since the 80's, especially 9mm. Special units still sometimes use 1911 .45acp but 9mm is trusted a lot more now and it has gotten much better. I would still stick with .45acp with a 1911.

    • @joenitro9024
      @joenitro9024 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@FirearmEnthusiast i have shot a 9mm 1911 and own m17/m18 (both slide assemblies) and beretta 92fs (civilian m9) and plan on getting a governor in .45acp in the next year or so along with SAA in .45acp someday. also have a 1903a3, m1, and AR very similar to what i had to qualify on. you may see a theme here.
      there are so many options for 9mm's i just don't see much point in a 9mm 1911. i believe you can also get 1911's in .22lr. i do have a .22lr pistol (walther p22q) and the .22lr bolt and mags for my AR for a quick swap, but don't see much point in a .22lr 1911, either. too many other options in 9 and 22 that would be a much higher priority for me. if you're infatuated with 1911's and want every configuration, or just don't want to shoot 45 anymore but want to stick with that design till the end, that's your preference. who am i to say otherwise?
      it's like trucks. people buy the truck that fits their wants and needs. if someone wants a honda ridgeline, who am i to say they should buy something else? i hope they enjoy it. god bless america.

    I just bought my first 1911. It came with 1 8round magazine. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for buying an extra magazine as far as brands. I know you and your son are probably very busy but a response would be really appreciated. The gun is a Girsan mc 1911 untouchable. 8 round 9 mm. Thank you for all the firearms education you have given me through the years.

    Ive a few calibers in the 1911 platform, love them all . The grandson wanted a 22 like grandpas guns , had to just buy a cheaper 1 , but when the gun makers get caught up , ill get him a better 1 .

    I'm only 135 years old, and still like my Kimber in 45ACP. Dad doesn't like it as much though.

      The way I look at it, our fighting men and women won wars using the 1911. Even used up through Vietnam, and probably longer. Strong, sure, and reliable. Can't beat that. Might not be as fancy as some 'plastic' gun, but the 1911 will get you through when the times are bad.

    My smaller caliber 1911 is 10mm. I love my 45 ACP. The recoil may be heavy, but it is not snappy. My lightweight pistols get lightweight calibers.

    45 years ago 9m was laughed at. Now... let's get RIA and all the other makers on the band wagon. I can't justify a Nighthawk but I can afford others.

      I bought a Citadel 9mm 1911 many years ago. I believe those are very very similar to RIA. I believe it was around $400 probably about 10 years ago.

      Rock island makes 22tcm, if you wanted a smaller caliber round hitting as hard as 45 ACP. Quite literally shooting 5.56 in a handgun, 5.56 short. Haha. I believe they all come with a 9mm conversion barrel so you can shoot either with just a barrel change.

    I love those Nighthawks, but to rich for my blood. I want to try the .30 Super Carry. Haven’t seen one yet. Looks fun to shoot! I like the extra capacity.

    great video. If it is a 1911, it will be 45 for me. For 9mm, I trust the Beretta 92 and CZ more than a 1911.

    Honestly, I have better follow-up shots and grouping with my Kimber .45 than I did with my Springfield 9mm. The .45 has stronger recoil, but it's a push-back recoil. The damn 9mm has a dancing barrel which I find to be a pain in the ass. My .45 is a beast, but the barrel stays flatter than the 9mm. The 9mm barrel likes to jump while the.45 ACP tends to stay more level. I use a .45 for EDC and probably always will.

    I grew up shooting .45's but I'm absolutely infatuated with TCM and I love my 9mm's. If I was gonna roll my own I'd go .38 super but I ain't got the dollar a round for .45. Not when 115gr is 30 cents and TCM and subsonic 9 is 40 cents. Small and fast is the future. Heavy and slow is obsolete. We already learned that with hunting rifles, then with military rifles. Now we are finally learning that with handguns like with the 5.7 and .460s&w.
    It will probably be another 50 years at least before we realize we can do the same thing with shotguns. I probably won't still be around but that's the future I'm excited for.

    I like the calibers designed by Millie Meader most, though there is something to be said for the cartridges created by Ace Eepie, he was a real genius.
