Thanks guys. That jig is actually really good. One of the few tools that’s been well worth it.

Hey bud, loving the look of your build! Apologies if its already been covered, but can i ask where you got your plywood from and why you decided to use both birch and poplar ply? Im just in the stage of building the cabinets in my Sprinter and am struggling to find the best ply to use and where i can get it from at a reasonable cost. Many thanks in advanced! :)

Hi Josh. Thanks for the questions. So we bought ours in bulk from a timber merchants called Sydnems. They were really helpful - we used the branch closest to us in Bristol.
The poplar ply is much lighter, but it does bruise easily. For that reason it’s good for internal carcasses. We used birch for the doors as it’s more hardwearing and looks much nicer in our opinion. It is however heavy.
A compromise could be faced poplar. As it would be lighter but looks like birch or other wood. This seems to be badged up as ‘furniture board’.

@@WanderbusAdventures Many thanks for your reply and for the information! Turns out we appear to have a Sydenhams here in Reading, so may give them a shout. :)
I am glad to hear that you have had success in using a combination of wood rather than all poplar/furniture board. This has given me some confidence that i will be able to build frames using timber batton and then simply skinning it with thinner ply for my benches, cabinets and kitchen!

@@joshcliffejones That sounds like a good plan; it'll definitely keep the weight down and still be really strong. Keep us posted and good luck
