Coming form APS-C, applying the crop factor, an f/4 full frame zoom actually provides about 5% more light gathering and shallow depth of field vs an f/2.8 on APS-C, that's amazing. You get the benefits of that full frame sensor and the low noise at high ISO and higher dynamic range, while still having more light gathering and shallower depth of field vs a huge, heavy and expensive f/2.8 APS-C lens, incredible.
What an awesome range. I've been waiting for such lens for such a long time! Pity I'm on a wrong system for now - if it ever comes for Nikon Z, I'll buy it straight away :) Thank you very much for this great review.
@@PavSZSo I bought it and I love it!! You mention versatile but you missed the best part my friend. I have the C1 button set to Clear Zoom so I can instantly be shooting 35-100mm just like that. AMAZING!! 📸
Thank you my friend! I need to film some stuff from a gimbal and I now I am thinking how on earth I will mange without this lens. I might have to buy it 😉
Pav! What you doing to me? Just bought the Zeiss 16-35mm f4 OSS after watching your video (and getting one for like $300 USD) and now you got this lens to tempt me with. But all seriousness, this Tamron or the old Sony Zeiss? I mostly only use it from 16 to 28mm anyway.

@@Pfagnan YES!
This lens is an excellent option to pair with the 70-180 f/2.8 as the ultimate lightweight travel combo.
YES!

thank you!
Love internal zooming.
me too!
16-35 f4 and 20-70 f4 are alternatives to consider as well.
yes
Watching this on my Tamron 17-70
... but seriously, interesting lens and good video! ;)
how can you watch this on Tamron 17-70?

i would stick with the zeiss (as an owner of the zeiss). Especially at that price. and you have OSS if you need it.
if you don't need 50mm, Zeiss
What is this better at than Sony's own 18-105mm f4? I feel like I'm missing something
18 to 105 is an APS-C lens. Different focal range, different tool for a different job
