    I used empty mustard bottles from the kitchen. The nozzle rarely clogs and they set on the cap so they are always ready to dispense glue. If you look you can find them in the alleys. The trick it to get the right glue - mustard ratio.

    I just tried one of those bottles. Used it twice. First and Last time. Actually I have a thick plastic “overbuilt” face cream jar my wife had and it keeps a pool of glue for months without hardening up. That jar and a small artist brush work great.

    Thank You for pointing out the Harbor Frieght option. I just spent the evening earlier being a little upset with the Glu Bot. I've been using it for about a month, and today, the bottle was full of Tight Bond, and I squeezed it. Glue was seeping out of the top around the lid and dripping (flowing)down the exterior of the bottle where I was holding it. Causing glue to drip onto my project. Fortunately, in this case, only sped up the rate of my glue-up. I did get glue all over my hands and had to immediately wash up after the gluing. In this case, it didn't mess up my project, but I don't think that I trust the Glu Bot anymore. I like the Harbor Freight option.

    I like the glubot alot. I've got three. The tip never clogs and you can leave it open for a month and nothing happens. The other one I like alot is the rockler glue roller bottle. Really helps out with panel glue ups. I was skeptical of both but really prefer them over standard bottles

      Glad you like it - I guess I thought I would like it more than I did. It's not bad.

    I’m a hobby woodworker. I have other interests also. I bought one of those GlueBots a couple of years ago. I guess they are great if you use it regularly. I used it on some projects I was working on an it was great. Then I did something else for a few weeks. When I went back to use it, it was a solid chunk of glue. I guess if you are a continuous user it is always great. I just use the bottle the glue came it.

      I bought some smaller clear squirt bottles off of amazon. They look like a small ketchup bottle only clear and they have a red cap. I use these all the time. When they clog in the tip, I just poke a nail through it and it's good to go.

    I tried one and couldn't squeeze the bottle with my Arthritis. I buy the 16 oz. bottle of titebond and the cap from the Frenche's mustard bottle fits right on. Works great!

    I've been using GlueBots for about 6 or 7 years now. I have purchased my last one however!! The problem with the GlueBot is that it is almost impossible to clean. I have used them until they just won't work anymore and purchase a new one. I'm going back to the old mustard and ketchup bottles. At least with them, you can clean them out when they begin to get clogged up. You can reach every part of them to get them back to brand new condition in just a few minutes with some warm water and a bottle brush. It is impossible to get a GlueBot completely cleaned out, and eventually it will clog up in the square shaped vertical portion that the glue goes up to where it's not usable anymore and you end up buying a new bottle. Another problem that I have noticed is that you have to get the lid screwed on extremely tight, or the pressure from squeezing the bottle will leak out the top instead of the nozzle. Then with it screwed on tight enough to work, after glue has gotten to where the cap screws onto the bottle, you almost need pliers to remove the lid. They are not worth the money nor the frustration involved with keeping them in useable condition.

      Bingo I stop cleaning them and just bought new again for a couple years gaskets always needed replacing after a year anyway
      Now I just use Siriachi and mustard bottles by the time they go bad I've already have their replacement ready

    personally I use a "French's" mustard container, it's cheap (free) easy to fill has a closure cap built in, puts out a steady glue bead and can be recycled

      Great Idea! I will have to try that...after I find someone who likes mustard :-)

    i find the glubot clogs up aand hardens in the "upward" nozzle and there is not way to unclog it. i ended up throwing it away. I like your idea better. Thanks.

    I've tried decanting glue into other dispensers but never found them handier than the plastic bottle it comes in. I guess the nozzle gumming up is bit inconvenient sometimes but not five or six quids' worth (or however much eight dollars is in sterling). I suppose it's just different strokes for different folks as always. Thanks Tom, I appreciated that bit of advice.

      Yeah, I'm with you. I've never understood the point of these fancy bottles.... I keep seeing other woodworkers on youtube using them, so, decided I'd watch some reviews. This review seems to be what most of them say, "eh/meh".

      In DE or PL these bottles are 25/35$ depending on the size... I rly can't see how they justify that 2$ plastic bottle

    Won't glue come out of _any_ bottle "if it's full"? I think the point of the Glü's design is so that it will still come out of the tip even when it's _not_ full. I do find the original one a bit too big, but now they have a smaller model (called "Babe-Bot" or something along those lines) which is probably easier to get into tight spaces (at the cost of having to refill it more often).

    My gluebot doesn't close tight enough to get the glue to come up the nozzle. A defective bottle that is worthless to me. I have tried several other cheaper methods and prefer them to the one I can't make work.

    • @AlleyPicked

      Sounds like your cover is not sealing properly. Could be defective. Maybe you could try using the white pipe thread tape on the bottle threads to help seal it. Just a thought.

    How come American wood glue is yellow but our wood glue in England is white ?

    • @AlleyPicked
      @AlleyPicked  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a marketing technique. I guess we Americans think we are getting something better if it's yellow :-)

    • @RFC-3514
      @RFC-3514 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If it was yellow, English people would confuse it with custard.

      Elmer's glue is white here in the US. Are you saying that Titebond III is a different color in England?
