I jammed to QUEENSRYCHE back in the day when Geoff Chris and Scott were still in the band.I loved them and they put on one hell of a show. I didn't know what to expect, but I have to say these guys rock!
Agreed! I’ve been a fan since the EP was released in the early 80’s, I absolutely worshiped this band and The Warning is my favorite album of all time. I’m glad to see Michael and Eddie still at and this band still sounding this good. I really like a lot of the new stuff as much as the old, still has that classic Queensryche sound
@@soundbreak7 Yeah well if you read my comment I dont give a F. People die and people move on but the band name is the same and the songs are the same. Get over it.

Unfortunately, bands break up, or they continue with different members. Geoff Tate, in his day, was an absolute trendsetter and pioneer…. This band took what was laid out before them in the form of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and trailblazed. Fast forward…. Geoff, while still touring, has to tune down to sing the songs as many other singers do from this era. Todd does an absolute amazing job singing these songs in the natural key they were written in which is no easy task. While he may not be exactly what Geoff was in his prime, he’s doing a helluva job at recreating the songs and delivering a performance that is very worthy. As fans of the genre and the band, we should be appreciative that the existing members that are Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson are able to continue to a) make a living and b) deliver this music to us.
I remember dropping the needle on this EP when it came out, great stuff, caught their first show outside of Seattle, at the country club in Reseda, Geoff was huge and the castle drum set was badass. This is a fair version, I guess.
Saw them when they opened for KISS at the Spectrum in Philadelphia around that time --- having heard them with ears that could hear a mouse fart out of tune --- they were untouchable ---- especially Geoff!
Before Nirvana... This was Seattle's Best! Met them backstage after their set opening for Metallica in 88. This EP was just released, I knew they were going to do big things. Plus Q Prime management behind them didn't hurt...lol
Saw them with Halford (opening band) and Iron Maiden (headliner band) in 2000 here in Phoenix! It was an awesome concert and the first time I saw all those bands!
One of the best concerts I've seen is the Promised Land tour, original members. Went with the band I was in at the time. We were close enough where I could throw a demo tape on stage. Chris picked it up. Would be cool if he listened to it. I miss the original lineup. oh well.
Wasn’t sure what to expect when I clicked on this…gotta say wasn’t disappointed. I like Tate a lot but give this guy some credit, dude can belt it out. Think Tate may even believe “well done”.
The crowd was dead like a cemetery get into it for God sakes! Put ur phone's down and head bang! God I miss old school queensryche Michael Chris Geoff Scott Eddie Long live old school ryche!
Before Nirvana... This was Seattle's Best! Met them backstage after their set opening for Metallica in 88. This EP was just released, I knew they were going to do big things. Plus Q Prime management behind them didn't hurt...lol
Err, the EP came out in 1983, not 88. 88 was the year they released the greatest Progressive Metal album of all time, Operation Mindcrime. 1988 was an incredible year.
That sounded good. But when Geoff hit those high notes, he didn't have to strain and bend over to hit. He stood straight up and sang it. Sometimes he moved with the music when he hit thise notes but it came naturally to him.
Tate said in an interview one time he knew he had the pipes (vocal chords, range, etc) to sing. He took vocal instructions from Maestro David Kyle in West Seattle. Maestro Kyle was famous in his own right having voice coached many, many entertainers. My ex wife took lessons from him for a while and was shocked at the number of pictures of famous celebrities that plastered a wall in Kyle's house....Geoff Tate's voice was really something in his prime years. It was so low when he spoke in interviews it almost rumbled. (I've never been a huge fan, so you know). In 2000 we saw Halford and Queensryche open for Iron Maiden in the Tacoma dome. I can confirm what others have said. He hit the high notes, oh yes he did. Shattering highs! My dad got back with his high school girlfriend around the same time. She said Queensryche played at her house when she had a big party. "My 15 minutes of fame" she said it was. I met Scott's brother one time. Really surprised me, it's a small world as they say. "Battle of the bands" was a thing years ago. Check out the ryche's competition from those days, Fifth Angel. Self titled debut; Time Will Tell; The Third Secret; ?? can't remember the last one. James Byrd was replaced by Kendall Bechtel (lead guitar), they recorded their second album, Time Will Tell, then Ted Pilot the lead singer left to pursue a career in dentistry following in his father's footsteps if you will. That was way back in 1989. Then they released The Third Secret with Kendall Bechtel on lead vocals and lead guitar. The man is a beast. Along the lines of John Sykes/Blue Murder (Tony Franklin on bass, a super cool guy, and Carmine Appice on drums), as well, Sykes was in Whitesnake, Steve Vai replaced him. Caught their show in '88 here in Seattle. blah blah blah.....yeah these guys didn't suck and filling Tate's shoes??? I can say with total confidence after seeing Queensryche live there is very few human beings alive anywhere in the world capable of singing the range Tate mastered. His low register was awesome as well he just rarely went there. But I still prefer Ted Pilot the original singer in Fifth Angel. His performances on the first two albums are kick ass plain and simple. Years ago a guy in Italy messaged me saying he wasn't having any success in trying to obtain the two Fifth Angel cd's. So I burned him a copy of each one and shipped it to him in Italy. I was doing fine financially at the time and it was inexpensive anyway so I just covered the cost. It was well worth it. Better than quarreling over things that should be giving us joy, a reason to live and happiness that isn't illegal, immoral or insane. Right?! Right! UP THE IRONS!!!
Geoff can't hit the highs like before. Geoff still has that monotone mid range that is not Todd's strong suit. They both bring great things to the table.@@mikegallagher2732
