Thank you so much for the tips. 31 years type one and just now getting an omnipod 5 (insurance problems) I love it so far. I'm sleeping better since I don't have a pump around my waist all night :)
Ben-I was in a hotel last week with a faulty pod whose siren wouldn’t turn off. I hustled out the back stairway, found a big rock in the parking lot and bashed it. It pained me to waste the insulin, but it worked!
Y'all I've had that happen more than at least 5 different times. Usually I smash them with a maul. Also they'll replace them if you give them a call!! 🤙
We had the same noise with pod I killed by stone, but Pod team said that next time better press with needle hole in a pod opposite to gold circle to in pod
Please do a segment discussing and showing Omnipod sites for a Dexcom g6. Since I have to change sites for pod 3 times to 1 Dexcom position. Having issues with pod positions for sleeping and communication with Dexcom, thanks 🙏
I contacted customer service after my daughter's controller would not connect and after a long wait, I left a message for them to call back. The message I got was that they would call back in 2 or 3 days, but I never heard from them. After trying a second time to get thru, I left a message again after the 2 or 3 days phone message, I never heard back. I had one reprensentative email me but nothing really happened. After my daughter went into DKA and ended up in the hospital, the reps at the hospital got me some help from Jennie Edwards. She made an appointment with me to do a Zoom meeting to help set up the equipment. The appointment is on November 30. I made that appointment on November 18! At least I have some interaction. Time will tell if we ever get the thing to work. Good luck with yours!
First I want to start by saying that I am sorry and a bit angry about what you have had to encounter because of a lack of better customer care from Omnipod 5. I empathize with your situation and hope your daughter is doing well. I just don't understand how corporations this large can do so well in their technology yet so poorly in simple communication and service. I've been on this device for about 3 months now and have really grown to love it. Yet it was rough and very disappointing initially; it has become quite useful. My barometer when measuring how well a medical device like this works is by measuring the amount of time I have to worry about its reliability. I can honestly say that lately I never think about it. I truly hope that @Omnipod calls you back soon and makes this right for you. In my opinion, if you can get this device dialed in, it will benefit your daughter immensely. Thank you for the comments and good luck.
@@typ3me like a dream and only takes 5-10 minutes for it to work and comes off pain free. The only down side is sometimes it leaves some adhesive behind but you can use the same pad to clean that up or another alcohol wipe. Can get it off Amazon for a decent price.
Hello thanks for all the great tips! I have a question for you. If the algorithm is in the pod and it learns more about you with each pod change then why does replacing a controller or changing the app make the omnipod 5 system start over like it's the first pod you used? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Brian, the pod sends and receives your total daily insulin requirements to your pdm for record keeping. Each pod will use a different amount of total insulin and these numbers create trends that are stored in the pdm history. When you begin a new pod session the information from the prior pod is sent to your new pod in a mathmatical algorithm. Changing your pdm changes your trend and thus causing you to in a sense, start over.
@@typ3me Hello Thanks for the quick reply! I am in the process of getting my first insulin pump. I live in Canada 🇨🇦 and the omnipod 5 will not be available for some time. I believe that you have been an omnipod dash user before the omnipod 5. I can get a pump that uses AID but has tubing not sure if I could get used to that or not. My question is can one achieve really good results using the Dash system manually with more effort on the individual or is the tubed pump with closed loop that much better? Thanks in advance
Yes Sir, I used the Dash with much success. I wish I could tell you podding is better than tandem closed loop or MDI, but I believe it is up to the individual to find the best system that works for them and their lifestyle. For me having a tubeless reliable pump was perfect. Good luck.
It's funny how that noise is so distinct. I went to a Diabetes conference a few months ago, and I kept hearing dexcoms and omipod alerts going off after lunch. It was so hard not to instinctively reach for my phone all day. Thanks for the comment, and enjoy your day.
Thanks for doing this. We have a 4 yr old diabetic and it’s been a huge challenge. Appreciate your support to the community
Your very welcome Nicholas. Tell your boy, he is my hero.

That's great to hear. You are very welcome.

😆 My wife actually had to smash one with a hammer one night when I was at the fire station it was hilarious

Great advice. Thank you, I think I'll do that.
Thanks for your helpful videos. I’ve been on O5 since July and I’m still learning new things every day
You very welcome Lilly
These are good to know! I would go crazy if that beeping wouldn’t stop.
Yeah it truly is an awful noise., especially ar 2am.
Great video! Informative and funny. Thank you Ben.
Thanks, Bo! I'm glad that this video made your day.
I use spray on mastisol on back of pod. Works pretty well.

I use unisolve to get my adhesive to loosen up.
Does it work well? 🤔

Can you tape over the pod with k1 tape?
Yes it will still cpnnect.
Cool shirt!
Great content . 🙏 I thought my Pod was going off watching hack 3 😂
