It actually stands for Worth. Wario is huge, so is his worth and that's why Nintendo is taking decades to collect the budget to cast him in a new Wario Land game (notice he doesn't sport the W hat in WarioWare).
I don't care if this video is semi-ironic, I've always thought Wario was truly a great character when he's depicted the right way. Not only was Wario the first Mario character to have a fully fleshed-out personality, but he even got his own character arc, going from a jealous villain in Super Mario Land 2 to developing into a hero in his own right (exemplified by his befriending Princess Shokora and helping her defeat the Golden Diva). The Land games did a great job depicting Wario as a total giga-chad treasure hunter while also making him quite human. He made mistakes, he got into bad situations, he got humiliated... but he always came back because he was number one and he was going to win.
@@legendarymarston9174 they’re usually pretty great, I’d recommend checking them out. There’s a good variety in them too, so I’d recommend checking out which one is best suited for your tastes.
Wario's "I'mma number one!" in the face of all his enemies always stuck with me. Like literally giving life the middle finger not not giving up. I LOVE it to this day.
What makes this even more inspirational is that while Wario is rude, selfish, and greedy, he isn't lazy despite his obesity. He doesn't do tax fraud, embezzlement, money laundering or any of that crap when he wants to get rich. When he hears of a place with lots of treasure that could make him rich beyond belief, he doesn't fund an expedition to search the treasure for him while he lays in his couch all day, NO, he gets his ass there and he beats the turd out of whomever gets in his way until that treasure is his. That is true dedication right there!
Additional observations I wish had been made in the video: - Wario's confidence in his abilities are even more prevalent when discussing his capability of being harmed, and his innate ability to be healed by eating some garlic. When taking damage, Wario will shout "Wow!" out of what I can only assume is pure shock that something had both the audacity and the strength to injure him. On the other hand, when eating a clove of garlic, Wario's "okay..." is almost begrudging in nature. It feels like he's disappointed in the player for not having that same confidence, for feeling like they couldn't beat the level through their own strength. - While the Black Jewel was able to turn most of Wario's treasure into monsters, the statues in his castle were simply deconstructed instead. I like to imagine this as Wario's confidence being so immeasurable that even something in his likeness can't be transformed. See also, as noted in the video proper, the statues of Wario's head plastered around some of the game's later levels. - Wario is not above admitting his mistakes. If the player stays on the pause screen for roughly fifty and a half minutes, he'll cease his annoying little song and give as genuine a "sorry" as he's capable of giving. I can only assume that even Wario knows that if such a thing occurred it must be an emergency of some sort, and it is just as inspirational to see that he's willing to acknowledge a misdeed.
A full hour on the pause screen!? Now I want to dig out my old Wii and try that out myself! I loved this game when I was 12 years old and played it so much.
Wario is also quite the positive role model, being as many would describe as traditionally ugly. Disproportioned, morbidly obese, scratchy voice, and smelling constantly of garlic, but despite this he always attends sporting events and social gatherings not letting anybody get him down. He is his own man, his own creator… A God of War-io if you will.
This might be a joke video, but honestly we could all take a note from Wario’s book. He knows what he wants, doesn’t hesitate to go after it and knows that he can do it. And he’s just a buff guy which is cool. Pump yourself up and take what you want from life. Hit the grind
I think it's great to see a person acknowledge that the gameplay can be a tool to convey a story. Wario doesn't need to do this stuff in cutscenes. He just does it in the game. The way he plays tells us everything we need to know about him. I would put Bayonetta in a similar category. Every button press allows her to display her personality.
It's one of the reasons why Wario Land has held up so well besides it's excellent presentation. The gameplay directly facilitates in characterizing who Wario is. He's hysterical because he's going through these weird and horrifying body morphs and he just shrugs it all off on his way to more money.

He THEN stops what he's doing and lets the player sit on the title screen for as long as they want. Truly an aspiring man

Lies, Wario doesn't care about slapping anyone's mom unless they're in the way and your girl isn't made of gold so he couldn't care less. Also, he's civilized, he knows to take his dumps in the bathroom. I will not stand for this slander of this excellent businessman.
Always loved Wario. The Wario Land games are bangers the lot, every one of them going in this fuckin wild direction. What a character. I love that R&D1 just got bored of Mario after two games and just went "what if Mario... but he's the biggest chad in existence?"
You know, when The Gaming Brit first told me about Wario, I had one thing to say: “The guy from those silly little micro-games?” “I believe in Wario.” Yeah, nice slogan, Wario. But it caught The Gaming Brit's attention. And then I started to pay attention to Wario and all that he’s been doing as a protagonist. And you know what? I believe in Wario. I believe that on his watch, Gaming can feel a little safer, a little more optimistic. Look at his face. His is the face of Gaming's bright future. To Wario. Let’s hear it for him
Sad that you didn't talk about the final boss and ending that much, because this game literally started by Wario's greed and ended with him learning nothing from this and just getting even greedier, shown how he isn't satisfied until you get the best ending.
This video honestly described my experience with wario world perfectly. Down to the pause screen making me get right back up on the grind. Doesn't matter what shivering mountains the game throws at me. Gotta keep moving Wario is a true symbol of peak human performance
Good video. Hope you read this. I know your semi-ironic point was that its about persistence. But MAN did you characterize Wario's personality vs. this game SO WELL. When I was a kid playing this these "hellish alternate-dimensional" monsters were so weird and scary, and the setting so foreign and threatening that I was scared at first. But its Wario: his personality, confidence, moxy, just made it possible for me to punch these monsters and fight them on equal ground. Found this video and clicked it both on whims. Glad it was uniquely insightful! :D
Game actually looks sick, holy shit. How couldn't i, a gamer, have played this yet? Extremely disappointed with myself but like Wario i'll keep my chin up and rise from the ashes, we're gonna make it boys!
As someone who still has a 4:3 monitor included in my setup, I really appreciate that you don't convert your 4:3 footage to 16:9 like virtually everyone else.
A lot of great points and morales. Love that you could get so much out of a game like this. Not with Wario World, but with other games, I too often find myself reading deeper into the story and its messages than I ever think the developers intended. But for deep and story heavy games, but also more laid back games like this. Videogames are an expressive artform, and we can learn a lot from them.
Thank you!! Wario is NUMBA ONE!! He deserves more respect from Nintendo, and it’s fans. His solo adventures went on hiatus shortly after he decided to found his own company. I hope he takes a break and goes on some escape to a pyramid in a jungle or some other treasure fetch quest yet again someday!
Wario is the type of man the world needs, he gets shit done and isn't afraid of adversity. I try to be more like Wario every day, tho I know I'll never reach such levels of greatness and glory.
And here I thought the most inspirational game would be some Sony exclusive with forced walking segments, dozens of cutscenes and some emotional moments with a sidekick..
I've been a fan of your channel for more than a decade now and this unironically reminded me of how to love myself more even if it sounds silly, I don't care. As they say we can interpret the art how we feel like, it doesn't matter if the intended meaning wasn't as deep as we thought it would.
Wario is actually quite a realistic character compared to other Nintendo protagonists. He's shallow, kind of self-absorbed and obsessed with small luxuries like food...kind of like most of us on days when we aren't trying too hard to be our best. I don't think it's at all silly that Wario would help you love yourself. A big part of the reason why Wario is a popular character is because he gives people something they don't get from Mario and his ilk.
@@cinnamonnoir2487 it's funny that Nishigama's comment is: "art is subjective because Wario is relatable" and your comment is "everyone recognizes that Wario is relatable due to his one-note design." One argument supports post-modernism and that art is only as meaningful as the interpreter makes it, and the other supports objective truth by saying that the takeaway is substantiated in facts and is reflected by the audience's love of the character.
Great video. I'm glad to see this game getting appreciation. Wario World is my favorite platformer/beat em up. I was 7 years old when I got it for the gamecube. My mom bought it for me because she was a lunch lady and heard these two kids talking about it. It was a birthday gift, and a unique one because I don't really like any of the mario games. But holy moly, this is nothing like mario games, it's nothing like a lot of games. This game and Wario Ware are the reason I love Wario so much and this game is amazing
The best part of the pause screen is that, if you wait long enough, Wario will say sorry and stop making sounds. Wario is truly a considerate man that we should all aspire to be like.
Wario doesn't sound like he just got off a tough day at work when beating a level... He sounds and walks out like he just took a long dump. This is basically second nature to him.
Unexpected, hilarious and amazing! Back-to-back with the Silent Hill 3 analysis, no less. What a damn legend! I support further brief one-offs like this whenever you feel like it and come up with one. It's also a plus that I'd forgotten about Warioworld for a while and yeah man, is it fun.
It took awhile for the thumbnail to load for me, so seeing fuckin Wario show up after 10 seconds of waiting for "The Most Inspirational Video Game" to appear was quite interesting
Wario is my favorite character. Just seeing him around makes me laugh because I'm always wondering what will he do next. As you said, Wario is a Mario that is NOT holding back. He can get away with the most outrageous antics because he knows he has nobody to answer to. Also, he seems to usually face meaner and stronger enemies than Mario more often, enemies that would crush Mario's self-esteem because he doesn't have the same level of narcissism that one can only acquire by being an obese strongman garlic-eating asshole. *Wario is the best Mario.*
Wario is so much inspiring that he inspired kids to become legends like him, like that kid Stephen, who got to finally unleash his gigachadness with a Wario steam!
I've seen lots of people dumping on the Gamecube and its library lately, but games like Wario World are what made it a very special console. This mid-2000s hate has got to stop.
Wario is my spirit animal. He is the embodiment of wealth, success and self-love; the human id given flesh and blood. The connection between struggle and achievement. There's a little Wario in all of us. Lol I've been missing your silly, cheeky attitude in your stuff recently, it's good to see you indulge in it a bit more again! Gives your stuff that spice that other people don't have. Keep at it man, make Wario proud.
The whole thing about Wario losing everything that he had and be transported into another dimension, and just get back up as if nothing had happened to him shows you how much of a badass Wario is.

@@riccardobravi9754 I always will. His silly money-grubbing hijinks pulled me through life's lowest of lows, and I admire his self confidence a lot
@@whyhesoears nice, become great for Wario
I feel that
Beta Mario: works his ass off saving the same Princess over and over.
Sigma Wario: Casually walks in, slaps your mom, frenchies your girl, takes a giant shit on your sofa and collects his money.
Woke vs WARIO! WAH HAH HAH!!!
Gotta keep moving
Wario is a true symbol of peak human performance
Extremely disappointed with myself but like Wario i'll keep my chin up and rise from the ashes, we're gonna make it boys!
honestly, (nearly) all wario games are great to say the least.
@@iota-09 Shame Nintendo only make mini games with his name these days
As someone who still has a 4:3 monitor included in my setup, I really appreciate that you don't convert your 4:3 footage to 16:9 like virtually everyone else.

Have wanted a classic fun little casual video like this in the channel for a while. Thanks for this, keep on grinding gamer.
Wario truly brings a man to tears
"it's not running, it's more like an accelerated stride"
Wario is the type of man the world needs, he gets shit done and isn't afraid of adversity.
I try to be more like Wario every day, tho I know I'll never reach such levels of greatness and glory.
We Will make it
And here I thought the most inspirational game would be some Sony exclusive with forced walking segments, dozens of cutscenes and some emotional moments with a sidekick..
Reported for being too true
What other games fit this bill besides TLOU?
@@davidgn40 All of them.
@@limabarreto911 Damn. Who's the sidekick character in Bloodborne?
@@davidgn40 We are talling about the first party games like God of War and Uncharted
Most people look up to guys like Guts or Jetstream Sam, but this man is the pinnacle of sigma mindset.
I love the message here at 6:16 , truly inspiring message I needed to hear
Perhaps that’s the benefit of arrogance. Stare at the face of a eldritch monster, and taunt it without any hesitation.
Wario is my Sigma Male role model. Doesn't let any cosmic horror or the IRS stand in his way.
Wario the type of guy to wage an inter-dimensional war with the IRS after they ask for his receipts.
Whenever I am feeling down I am going to put this video on for inspiration
Great video. I'm glad to see this game getting appreciation.
Wario World is my favorite platformer/beat em up. I was 7 years old when I got it for the gamecube. My mom bought it for me because she was a lunch lady and heard these two kids talking about it. It was a birthday gift, and a unique one because I don't really like any of the mario games. But holy moly, this is nothing like mario games, it's nothing like a lot of games. This game and Wario Ware are the reason I love Wario so much and this game is amazing
Wario is quickly becoming my favorite Nintendo character. Right behind Kirby, and MAYBE King K Rool.
It's great we're getting small videos again. I think a few of those in between the 4 main videos would be cool 👍
"Now we all know that Mario is deceptively stronger than the average Italian"
Thank you for giving Wario the respect he deserves. Wario is my greatest inspiration both ethically and professionally.
That end got me good. I am now full of doubts and my worldview is shaken, thanks
"Is this an out of season April fool's joke?"
Only this time, it's in the good timeline and everyone can have a good laugh.
Wario games. the only games I can get my greed out.
This is officially the greatest video on all of youtube. Thank you, TheGamingBritShow, Thank you.
Wario has less of a “run” and more of a “jaunt”
Good to see a TGBS video with some personality like the old days.
"Come and buy a pixelizer!"
I think Wario is objectively the greatest video game character of all time I’d find it very hard to find someone who doesn’t like Wario
You're right
@Klaymodo Post Office truly a loser
No irony, me and my friend are concluded long ago that Wario is actually great character and good, positive role model
Damn looks like I need to start Wario-Maxxing
I was not expecting this-
Wario World is a game unlike any other. A legend in it's own right.
Wario is so much inspiring that he inspired kids to become legends like him, like that kid Stephen, who got to finally unleash his gigachadness with a Wario steam!
I love your commitment to writing long, detailed analyses of very silly games with 100% sincerity and not posting them at any time close to April 1st.
I choose to believe this video isn't ironic at all! Based video.
I can hear the fun you were having recoding this in your voice.
Memes aside Wario World is legitimately a really exceptional game and one of the most underrated Nintendo exclusives out there.
I've seen lots of people dumping on the Gamecube and its library lately, but games like Wario World are what made it a very special console. This mid-2000s hate has got to stop.
@@cinnamonnoir2487 I remember that hate from when it was new. I remember a lot of people on forums shitting on the GameCube during the early Wii days.
"Mario gets Peach.
Luigi gets Daisy.
And what do I get?
Paid."
The Welcome to Wario World was so nostalgic to me, thanks Charles for all the memories
1st boss: Roar
Wario: Where's my money b****!
Wario: I'm here to kick as and chew bubble gum and I'm all out of gum.
Two whole dead serious minutes for the best joke delivery of all time. "I am... number one."
This is the video equivalent of “Mario the Idea vs Mario the Man”
Mario all the trouble for a lady, Wario no trouble for the pay day
Wario is my spirit animal.
Charlie at his tongue-in-cheekiest is something special indeed.
It's good to see the TH-cam game analysts finally catch up with the Toki Pona community on this topic.
this video raises an important question: what exactly is mario’s power level?
Certainly lower than Wario's at least.
@@CayenneGaramonde damn right
The whole thing about Wario losing everything that he had and be transported into another dimension, and just get back up as if nothing had happened to him shows you how much of a badass Wario is.
