2500BHP 8.4 L VW CREW CAB DRAGSTER - MENTAL BREAKDOWN

Having not seen Wayne Allman on the track for some years now, it was good to see him back out at Santa Pod Raceway for Bug Jam 35. The plan was to do a heads up race against the Nitro Bug, but due to the high state of tune on these vehicles, a few technical issues stopped that from happening.
The vehicle - Mental Breakdown was built by Wayne at his Intergalactic Custom Shop. There is lots of information on the internet about the build. It started out a damaged 65 Single cab, and Wayne built it up from there. Keeping the original metal front end, and stretching it, to look like a crew cab, so he could be seated further back, and building a complete dragster chassis to hold his Keith Black 8.4 Litre Supercharged Hemi V8 running on methanol. It has never been on the dyno, but a good guesstimate is 2500bhp.
Straight off the trailer it ran a 7.15 @ 196.26mph, and Wayne backed that up with a 7.10 @ 198.88mph. Not quite the 6 second run at 200mph, but it was so close. Wayne did come out for one final run, but one of the many fail safe censors, switched the engine off on the start line. So the run to 200mph continues, and we look forward to seeing Mental Breakdown back out on the track.
