@@fredylopez2477 No, I meant "go without" as Emma explained how to use these phrasal verbs. You can check in any good dictionary "go without something". @@user-su9of3nc4h Well I'm sorry man for trying to help because that's the way I learned there was always someone to help me besides the teacher, it's not that I'm a know-it-all I just wanted to help but don't worry it won't happen again. I have got or gotten 6/13. My English language improve day more day with you . I need to phresal verb about get / have / take / give / let / run / turn / switch . Thank you Emma and see you soon on youtube .
My level is so so. There are three phrases i can not choose the best description such as bring up,butt in, fight off. This material connect with the last time , so we can practice it again deeply and improve our English. Nice teacher. Nice material.
Maybe it's American usage, but "let on" usually carries a slightly different meaning when I hear it. That is, revealing emotion rather than revealing a secret. "If John was upset at not getting a raise, he didn't let on." Sometimes it could be both meanings, if the emotion is the secret. "Even if you're impressed by the firm's offer, don't let on." Some online definitions use the word "information" rather than "secret," and that could cover emotion as well. Even though I'm a native American English speaker, this lesson taught me some new usage!
It's a good think that you explained the context for "fall for" as being for someone. It indicated that the phrase was being used in a positive manner. It is important to note that the same phrase "fall for" can have a negative connotation if used in a statement such as, "I refuse to fall for my brother's tricks again." In this context one can see that falling for something indicates that a person was taken advantage of by another person.
A huge gratitude to you, dear Emma for this such a positive moment at the beginning of this lesson! I was laughing for so long! Nice examples. However, I think your last sentence isn't correct. You should omit "was" as it doesn't make sense. In addition, "rallied around with fruits" lacks clarity. Perhaps the sentence might be written as : When I broke my leg, my mates had rallied around me with fruits. 🤔
