I have a comp in 3 days (not a joke; I seriously do). I'm feeling out of practice from a busy past three weeks of barely getting to the gym. This video has inspired me to try harder! I'm currently online ordering PhotoShop right now! (That was the joke. Stop reading.)
lol, there are 4 holds and with that 3 meters missing... 11s would actually be a crazy good time. but still nice try. i still need to beat my 31 sec PB :'D
True 😁 there are 8 holds missing. There are 20 hold all together, they had wall up to 12th hold. I also was shocked when they did. 11s time in 3 days of training 😂
I got on a speed wall , being at a random gym that actually had one so I thought I’d check it out. I climbed it like a normal climb and had a newfound respect for it. You actually look ok . Way better than me. I def climb harder that though ;)
Clearly the legs that reddit gave you were not big enough. It obviously impacted your mental throughout your training and competition. 8/10 video, not enough mental
As a trainer for youth competition climbing, I have to say that under 10sec is really good for 2days. And 6.2 sec in three weeks is incredible. But do you really have the full wall or just half?
wouldnt it be just so much more fun if they speedclimbed up a new route, just make it a sportclimb but fastest up wins? then its more about visualization and explosiveness instead of just muscle memory on a practiced route, like they on a beep they turn around and the timer starts, so u can either jump on, or visualize a bit longer maybe see a diff beta, and go?
I don't get it. It sure looks like the harness/thingy is pulling them up. They are climbing much too "floaty" as if there is no effort of pulling your body upwards. Like there is no gravity or resistance going on. Weird stuff.
"Weird stuff"... just get your lazy ass to the next climbing gym and try an auto belay. It doesn't give you any support. Turns out if people train to be efficient and fast they look efficient and fast who would have thought
@@DerButzemann94 I dunno.. it's one thing to be efficient but something else to just float upwards like a nearly weightless thing. Even runners, who also train and run the same thing thousands of times, to be efficient, they look like they are resisting forces, but not these guys.
@@gashyrawr The autobelay does not provide any meaningful support. Top speed climbers have done this thousands of times and it is all about being smooth and efficient. As much as speed is a little silly conceptually, the people that are really good at it are absolutely incredible athletes.
As a Reddit mod, I am both deeply offended by your post, and searching for the ban button because you didn't take this seriously enough. Real athletes get the surgery, dude.
lol good thing you wrote this. I was like damn, you can get to 6 seconds in two weeks assuming you're already a decent climber? I don't watch speed often so its easy to overlook. Regardless it was a fun vid
Is not fair man, you were matched against a 2-week veteran of the sport :(
Speed climbing would be 1,000% better if one of the holds was not screwed in, but the athletes didn't know which hold.
Please make a petition I'll sign that 😅
... and also climb without a belay
Bouldering and speed climbing spike pit. It would really drive the ratings up
Is it the same hold for both athlètes
@@pahom2u climb 15 meters with no belay
Actual comedy gold. Somebody get this man a medal to match.
Perfect timing I just sat on the toilet
Me too
@@dynamicdrew3198 me three
dropping that dyno
Just sent a hard v2
making that post shows 100% commitment
of course Tomoa, the King of Dynos, has developed a better dyno for the dyno races (idk why they call it speed climbing)
it's cos it's climbing but you do it at speed :)
dyno races sounds 1000% better than the actual name of the sport =D
Not watched yet, but I already feel offended, that you try the forbidden climbing

Presumably
yes
Stop kicking him, he's already down! D:
Ur moms a dyno
🤷♂️@@Mr.Cupcake he'd be up if he could dyno
I loved the Majora's Mask theme.
Didn't expect to wake up and see footage of New Zealand speed climbing opens! Awesome to see our NZ climbing clubs on TH-cam!
Bro is one surgery away from a 4.67
You are giving speed climbing the gravitas it deserves
8:39 the music i remember from a cool edit I was watching on loop like 5 years ago 😭😭😭 flashbacks are kicking in. Rip the Domino squad
It's actually about who has a better autobelay and not about skill at all.
This kind of delirium is the reason
why i watch your videos.
really fun video , i recently tried speed climbing for 2 week straight and it was really fun to see you having a similar experience to mine
To be sure, you are aware the speed climbing wall you were climbing was much shorter than the standardized one, right? 😃
oh that would make sense, I was actually shocked that he got sub 10
WAY under rated channel🔥🔥
like to see these comp journeys . good vid
" i had to take it, hard" camera focused on the butt LMAO

I was wondering why they are ao fast. Thanks dear keen observer.
@@peterkapunkt6783 i actualy only looked it up because in my memories there weren't 2 holds at the jump.
you are welcome.

Wow, this is definitely the content we need 🙄
For me as a german, the people who invented comedy, you nailed it!
Speed climbing is a mental as chess is physical

Lol. Not even the full speed wall. Only 2/3 of the rute
My new goal is to beat climbing stuffs speed climb 👊🏼
Shout out to the Cinci area, Didnt know he was from around there
“While I waited for a response from the plastic surgeons and reddit” is a fantastic line
What an ending, wow
You should've just tackled the UC climber first, then went up the wall
4:54 😂 Metal Gear OST

I can't wait until they patch hurdles into speed climbing.
I think I heard sounds from Majora's Mask 🙃
The story had me in stiches 🤣
How do you the American ninja warrior USA vs the world that is unlisted in your channel?
Sub 10 second in 3 days is fucking mental though honestly.
You look like Carlos Sainz in the cover photo
my man learns speed climbing by learning the tomoa step first hahahaha
“A pot on the kettle” 😂
This was hilarious

why does he look like joel haver in the thumbnail
Why were you guys racing on half a speed wall

Gave that stick man more than just big legs🫣
No shame in losing to a guy who got to 6s with just two weeks of training. Ondra never got below 7s despite training for months.
They are only on a 10 meter wall. The standardized wall is 15 meters.
