Really good lesson for beginners and intermediate bass players. The talk and exercices about inversions starts at 8:05

Greg's Bass Shed , yes indeed i just bought a Fender Pbass and am excited to get started practicing these chord tones.. arpeggios. I found the PDF file i was looking for here -:) and joined the mailing list.
More and more, despite seeing many videos that stress and showcase chops and appropriate modal scales to go with the chord,
      I understand with clarity
and realized early on that nothing beats first mastering the diatonic order and major scale and the 1357 to each of the notes.. Intervals and triads..These are how chords r made and many lines are formed from them.. I know i will constantly go back to them as i learn..as everything going forward is based in them. Its an essential study and a great place to begin... like bricks to a strong foundation.. 🎹🎼🎼🎸
Iam a simple guy who likes being rooted in basic fundamentals.. not so much tricks and flash..Thanks so much you have a new follower!🙌🙌🎼🎼🎼

tahoe829 you are spot on with knowing what is important and making sure you have a strong foundation with the basics.
Although obviously there are advanced players using complicated chord extensions, etc. where appropriate, the basics feature strongly, even for these players.
As for chops, well good to have them, but for almost all bass players, the basics and solid time are what are required and what will get you gigs!
I can’t help thinking that lots of the flashy ‘TH-cam bass shredders’ would not be much use in a gig situation!
Anyway, good luck with your progression with the bass.
