Snake River always has beautiful cichlids, received a shipment a couple of months ago and all came in a lil stressed, healthy and happy. After dropping them into their quarantine tank I always cover the tank with a towel, no lights and no feeding for the first 48 hrs, that way they can destress at a safe pace. After a week I give them two rounds of ParaCleanse and then a drip method of salt 1tbsp per 5gal, 4 weeks later they go into the display tank with all the other guys👍👍👍

I have an experience of i should have quarantined: some months ago I got a male bristle nose pleco for my female and then he was maybe not very healthy and spreaded ich in my aquarium, luckily i didn't have deaths but this convinced me that if i ever keep again maybe discus a quarantine tank must be set up

Those are some beautiful fish bro. The colors look really good and they do look a bit scared. I can’t wait to see the update video where you add them to the main tank. The aqua builder app keeps getting better. You guys are adding new fish species every week. How is the aqua builder app doing? I am liking the new features. It just sucks that I can only have one tank. We should be able to keep more tanks in the free version. Why do I have to purchase the membership to add more than one tank. I am not asking for unlimited tanks but at least we should be able to add more than one tank.
The app is doing great! 20K+ users, and growing by 100 downloads a day! There's tons of costs in making an app and even more in data storage costs. Every tank you add is more data that needs to be stored and more cost. Adding the subscription is how we can balance the cost of storing all the users data while paying the Dev team to continuously improve the app. It's only 5 bucks a month bro, and you'll get much more than just an additional tank! For 15 African Cichlids I'd say you need more. Plus, that 15 can quickly change to 25 before you know it lol Go with the FX6 💪

I dose the food when I’m purposely treating. It does work better. But dosing the water also works. Since QT is for prevention and observation, water dosing is fine. Plus, they won’t eat for the first few days anyway, especially when mixed with meds.

Purigen is a chemical media and its purpose does not involve cycling an aquarium. I wouldnt use any chemical media during the cycling process.
Beautiful fish! Is it a good idea to add SeaChem Stability to add good bacteria to control the bad bacteria during a bloom? I’ve tried the steps from your previous video and still having some issues.

It is tough to find! I get mine directly from Seachem or my LFS. Not many online distributers carry that size.

I ordered 1 albino taiwan reef, 1 taiwan reef , and an ob mystery 2 pack from Snake River cichlids. All about 4-5in. The fish are stunning. But the taiwan reef literally wants to murder the albino taiwan reef. He is relentless and will not leave him alone. Help!

what do you use for your preventative care? you mentioned you periodically medicate your main display, how often? and does seachem purigen needs to be removed while medicating? I like your videos always, you tanks look clean

Yes, always remove chemical media before meds. I use metroplex and focus mixed in their food. Plus Rons medicated food once per quarter. I have videos on both 😁
Hey Kev will gravel vacuuming mess up my cycle or do I even need to? Also I don't have a planted tank
It can if your tank is very young. You could disturb to much BB in your substrate that hasnt accumulated yet in your filter. In the early 3-6 months of your tank I would vacuum in sections and not the whole substrate at once.
Do you water change when you’re quarantining?
You don’t have to if you stay on top of your daily Prime according to your rate of ammonia increasing. But because many beginners don’t really do this correctly, it’s a good idea to water change every 2-3 days (depending on bio-load) to ensure the ammonia doesn’t get out of control. Keep in mind, you aren’t trying to actually cycle the QT, just trying to keep ammonia under control until QT is complete. 😁

Not sure when "before" is for you but a while back I lost a few to aggression and a few that were rehomed as the aggressors.

Kev, do you still use Ron Cichlids fish formula? If so, do you use it as a part of your quarantine process for feeding?
I do but not for Quarantine. Once per quarter I feed the main tank Rons medicated food as a preventive. 😁
how can i cure the ick on my fish fast ? i just realized today some of my fish in my 125g tank have white spots on them and i dont want them to die , need help ASAP
If you have decoratives in the tank, take everything out. Including the sand, thus making a plain tank. Buy some ApI ick cure & follow the directions. That’s how I would do it. I do also own a 125 gallon.
Raise the temp and dose with Aquarium salt. Then vacuum the substrate very well when the ich falls off them.
I really hate to ask but im at my wits end and dont want to lose anymore fish. Im a rookie with aquariums and learning more and more everyday from your videos. Is there any way you could contact me directly just ONE time to help me save my fish… i wouldnt ask but i am getting desperate. I have treated for ich with no results. Im currently treating for epistylis with kanaplex as instructed from research online but still no results and whatever my fish have is only infecting 1-2 fish at a time (or at least showing symptoms) until theyre dead

Kev I just got 3 synodontis catfish for my 125 peacock tank and put them in quarantine in a 20 gallon with SEACHEM METROPLEX/Paragaurd , is it safe for catfish ? , so far3 days and they seem fine ,
