I love how Fujimoto is unabashedly unashamed in admitting that Makima is the kind of woman he's down bad for, but at the same time, points out just how toxic and manipulative someone like Makima can really be. At the end of the day, some fantasies should remain a fantasy.

Kind of a paradox that you end up liking some of the abusive qualities you experienced as a child. Can't speak for others but it adds up for me at least lol, Makima kinda reminds me of my father when it comes to manipulating, jealousy, control, etc. I don't like any of those things but my dick does apparently lol. On depression and Fujimoto: He basically stated and it appears that one of his main inspirations comes from the desire to express his own depression/ existential dread. He said something along the lines of feeling that way after doing volunteer work for disaster relief, himself and others feeling like they didn't even make a dent after working tirelessly all day, and being largely impacted by this. Aside from his pure uniqueness, talent and ability to communicate these things (not taking these things lightly), I think that's why his works are so visceral and... relatable(?) To so many people. It's very raw and fundamental to the "human condition" for lack of a better term, and uniquely exploratory of different ways of thinking and managing these questions and feelings.

You know, I often find it funny how many people see a mangaka's avatar in jump and realize it's an avatar and you go "ah, yeah, they don't really look like that, this is just an image" but then you see HeartMan Fujimoto-san and you are like, "ah, yeah, that's definitely him, he can't look any other way. If you told me he was a real man I wouldn't believe you" and I find immense joy in this.

I discovered Fujimoto from super eyepatch wolf. He made a video mentioning Chainsaw Man and it got me curious about it. After I finishing all of Chainsaw Man , Fire Punch and all of Fujimotos one shots (especially the more obscure ones that can't be normally found) I can defiantly say the the dude is an inspiration for me. Not only in the story telling he portrays in everything he makes, but his art is just so cool to look at. I made so many chainsaw man fan arts that I'll admit that I have an insane obsession. I don't know why that is, but I just love it that much. A lot of people that aren't familiar with Fujimotos works would write him off as a weird guy (which he is for sure) but you can't deny that the man has talent and passion for his creations. Paper Plane, and Sense of Justice are currently missing. Only their covers have been found. Tetteleposan from what I know is the only one shot that has been found and was translated. My way of viewing CSM as a person who enjoys story teling, and writing, is that, chain saw man is so loved because Fujimoto expresses his ART in a simple, direct, direct way. He does what the fuck he wants, and that atracts very of the people that have that "artist" inside of them, that will of taking what is deep on your soul/disturbed mind, and deliever it as a story. That why in my vision CSM(ans fujimoto works) have so much content like animations, memes , fan drawing, imense fan base of every character(and non character/Kobenis car S2). Fujimoto is very good at his craft, that atracts people who like a good story, but, he is indeed "raw", he expresses the way he wants and he knows that, and that fascinates us unkown artists, with crazy ideias and the will to create.

For me, Chainsaw Man felt like the fresh take on visual storytelling that I needed. These characters are relatable: Denji’s rage, Aki’s emotions - everyone is unique in their own exaggerated way. Seeing the civilians help Denji to save them was something I don’t see often (for example, society in Devilman Crybaby being divided on whether they should side with the Devilmen or not). This leads to a whole fanbase, with Denji actively trying to blow his cover and failing miserably (nearly the opposite of modern superhero movies where the general public loathe their hero). There’s a sense of hope in the mess of chaos and destruction, and I feel that Fujimoto does have a positive view of humanity as a whole, even with the jerks and douchbags. He takes a lot of tropes and flips them on their head, and I appreciate it.

Fujimoto is the only author where I am actually interested in who they are. Maybe it’s because of how bat shit insane the shit they draw can get but it’s also just the way he acts outside of his manga. The weird shit he has done a with faking his imaginary sister. The weird shit he has said in his interview. It is very obvious that this man is as best said in modern day term. “Quirky and built different.” And all of that weird vibes he has shown can be easily seen in his own manga. Which makes his manga a debatable master class thing of its own. Sure the story isn’t perfect for fire punch or chainsaw man (his one shots are debatable another story) but holy shit. one small note: at 13:04 you refer to Togata as "her", when one of the points of his character is that he feels like a man.
despite using she/her pronouns in the story (which is due to the context, where the idea of a trans person got lost in time), it would be better to use he/him pronouns since he is a man overall.
this is in no way a negative critique, just something I wanted to point out, because Togata is genuinely one of the best trans rep I've seen and he's a very important character to me and many fellow transmascs :)

As someone who's losing his mind at and alarming rate and probably doesn't even have much time before completely losing it, Chainsaw Man has been amazing.
I've done nothing but reading CSM in my free time for the past 2 weeks and it feels nice to find characters as deranged as myself.
Also it's very easy to find Denji relatable, the guy just wants a normal life and would be happy with "just normal". I can get behind that.
Of course I'm not forgetting the awesome story, really cool lore, great characters, great sense of humor from Fujimoto because you never know what's going to happen in the next page and the fact that it's not your typical story, no one here is safe, it gets crazier with each chapter. It's been the wildest ride I've ever had while reading something.
Also the same thing happened to me, while reading it I forgot about the rest of the world, that was pretty cool.

40:49 . i broke down sobbing when i heard this. i hardly cry. this stupid fucking manga means more to me than i could put into words. i’ve been going through some really deep shit for the past few years of my life, and hearing that someone else went through a similar situation as and felt as emotional about csm as much as i did really hit me in the heart. thank you. i needed a good cry.

Just love how author of this video really touches the essense of Fujimoto's work by going slowly more and more insane as the video goes on. Trully one of the videos of all time

Finally watched this MASTAPIECE of a video. And dang, like as someone who hasn't seen anything related to CSM, I'm honestly so invested in how this community acts in the span of only 45min. Like, I have NEVER seen a community act this lively about one work of art. I finally get why people were so hyped for the anime and now with its release, I feel we will see even more of this community as it gets larger. I have been subscribed for months now, but this video has made me now click the bell. You are the FIRST youtuber I have ever decided to do that to. And, even though it means nothing tbh, I'm just so happy to see your content. Keep being awesome Ah Lecks :)

What you said with Chainsaw man in the end was what happened to me in the pandemic. I was really depressed and felt like I was going to break until I discovered Chainsaw Man. I really had never read manga like Chainsaw man in my life and really helped get through my depression. I know a lot people I know don’t really understand why I feel this way and say it’s because a lot of those characters really reminded me of myself and felt like can relate to them. And that’s one of main reasons why I want my future career to be storytelling and I thank Fujumoto for that.

I have just now went back to this video, I watched it like 8 months ago, read fire punch later, (Which blew my mind out of my mind) and the forgot about it. Now I've finally watched the Chainsawman anime, and this Video popped up, and I need to say that this video really is probably one of my top 100 favourite videos, out of the 10s of thousands of videos that I've seen on whole youtube. I really want to thank you for your time and effort put into this absolute masterpiece.

This was one of the most entertaining videos i've ever seen. You really managed to point out the core about the hype around Fujimoto Senseis work. It's amazing and somehow I can't put it into words. It's like letting your shadow self do whatever it wants. Letting your intrusive thoughts take form and presenting them in a story. I love Fujimoto

Fujimoto is the type of weird that attracted me like a moth to a flame. He wilds out and that is the shake up that Shonen Jump and I needed.

THE PANEL @16:39 is literally the face of "grin and bear it". A real 1000 words in one pic. Pain, fortitude, duty, despair, so much in 1 glance. Sadly, I've worn this face a few times and the only reason I don't today is the woman who saved me.
And yes, I do know how lucky I am in finding her.
And then I got to your meme section and laughed hilariously. Thank you for the intro. I've never seen the meme and I'm hooked.

I' enjoy the whole video thoroughly, it was a really great video essay and really wholesome for you to acknowledge those people who inspire you to put in the work. I guess in the end of the day, people just enjoys/felt inspire what other people are passionate about, and that is the beauty of Fujimoto's work.

When look back dropped I was already a fan of fujimoto. I was working on my own manga and I felt stuck. I can recall the feeling of awe when I realised that he came back with a 100 page masterwork after all the silence following the end of csm part 1. Absence I understood as time for him to rest. I was so moved and motivated to draw in hopes of making something as touching as that one day. It might feel pretentious to compare oneself with someone like fujimoto but it really does feel like a pat on the back. This guy is out there doing his best and sharing all these honest emotions with us. It makes you want to create and i guess it's the same feeling you described. If one day I end up putting out something remotely interesting, I'll owe it in big part to Fujimoto.

I think as an aspiring writer, knowing fujimoto exists helps me know that your writing ideas don't have to be some grand mastery but just different. I like that.

OBVIOUSLY the pocheemsta from Billibilli is a representation of the fight against depression and how chainsaw man saved someone from ending their own life.

That last bit about inspiration is scarily true, i started reading chainsaw man near the beginning of the school year in 2021 and had an art class which with my previous interaction with art i didn't want to take but the more i read chainsaw man the more i started to like art and felt like drawing more, and eventually started drawing panels from chainsaw man and now whenever i hear a certain part of the song "kickback" i just feel like getting my hands on pencil and paper to start drawing

I rarely comment on TH-cam videos ( probably once a year on average) but honestly this video was SO GOOD that I needed to let you know (even if it's another generic possitive comment) how much I appreciated this video and all your channel in general. You can truly feel how much effort was put into this and you managed to portray how wonderful Fujimoto is as a mangaka and the love the community shares for him. I hope you didn't burn out during this vid and rest assured we will be waiting for your next vid ♥. Have a good day and keep loving Garfield.

i come back to this video like maybe 4-5 times a month just so i can recite it and laugh at how funny your humor is. that and i absolutely loved chainsaw man, since that was the first introduction to the world of tatsuki fujimoto for me! i started reading fire punch after i saw this video for the first time like 4 months after you put this video out and i couldn’t stop laughing at how bizarre and strange it was.
and i just loved chainsaw man. it’s still one of my favorite mangas/animes of all time. and is one i always recommend to people if they want to have fun and see some crazy shit 😂
