Russian and Chinese would have their entire air force and navy decimated which could be something that they'd never be able to recover from. Interesting to think that this is solely focused on the pacific. Russia would be force to deal with a 2 front war. We still have air force bases in Poland, Germany, Italy and turkey. Plus Army bases too. Russia wouldn't be able to send all of her planes to the pacific theater. And of course other countries like Korea would get involved too. Interesting thought experiment though!

    The problem I have with this video is like most of the US vs. Videos.
    I think one of the key flaws (if you can call it a flaw) is the tendency to assume that these militaries will experience like for like losses, somewhat akin to WW2. When as we often see in the US's various war games, and reality is that modern wars (in Iraq and Falklands for example) do not play out this way. On a battle to battle basis, a single side often claims the initiative early on and snowballs from there. One of the US's greatest advantages, particularly against the RF and PRC that is rarely talked about is their highly networked and sophisticated command and control. This allows them to think and react faster to a changing battlefield environment faster than any armed forces on Earth. Being able to peel back the fog of war and make critical decisions with some level of accuracy is what wins modern wars, more than anything else.

    • @generalboyit7867
      @generalboyit7867 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a pretty good advantage but what if the us got hit by a emp missile ?

    • @MadM0nte
      @MadM0nte 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@generalboyit7867 EMP's of any relevant size, as you know, can only be delivered through the high-altitude detonation of thermonuclear weapons. Likely multiple. Such launches would be just as disruptive to friendly forces as they would to enemy, rendering this option only suitable for defensive use as part of a retreat. More importantly such a launch would be indistinguishable from the offensive launch of ICBMs in a nuclear attack, and due to the short decision loop in nuclear warfare almost certainly trigger a nuclear response. Imagine being the President of the US and hearing that after RU/CN ICBMs were launched all contact with US forces on the Island of Japan was lost. You have 30 minutes to make a decision. What would you do?

    • @MadM0nte
      @MadM0nte 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @yehoutube That's not a compelling argument, those wars were fought decades ago under very different win/loss conditions and for very different objectives. We're talking here about a primarily naval and air war centered around the ability to competently launch air strikes into non-permissible air space. This is something the US Military is highly specialized to achieve being primarily offensive focused. Vietnam and the Korean War were hampered from achieving their objectives due to the political reality of the time. For example, the US President Harry S. Truman (being generally incompetent) believed that an invasion of China to destroy the forces amassing at the border would lead to open hostilities between the US and USSR. Truman would refrain from risking Europe at all costs, thus his tepid policy in Asia. As for Vietnam the overwhelming reality acknowledged by all sides was that the US could take Hanoi at any moment. Despite the extensive Russian SAM defenses, during the Nixon administration large scale bombing raids into North Vietnam were not prevented. Nor were they preventable frankly. The mismanagement of the war (which shouldn't have even started by the way) is expressly acknowledged as the fault of the Johnson administration and its inability to determine win conditions for the war beyond propping up the SV puppet government. This meant that for the majority of these conflicts the US forces were deprived of the initiative by their own government. In the conventional conflict Binkov presents the neither of the problematic political conditions from Vietnam and North Korea exist, as nuclear weapons are not modeled. Thus, the superior C&C of the US gives American forces a shorter decision making loop and as a consequence, the initiative.

This video is about a conflict between 4 very powerful countries so The need to limit the scope is important to keep shit from getting very convoluted. It’s a “what-if” scenario based on military statistics and capability, not an end all argument especially because even the examples given aren’t concrete. Nearly every single criticism you have would involve about three more countries, opening more possibilities and more countries and we'd spend more time talking about these countries than the actual subject. Not going to do alot of back and forth here but I don't think most people understand the massive technological differences between U.S. military forces and those of China, Russian (and to be frank MOST of the world). The U.S. has OPERATIONAL Gen-5 fighters that will literally wipe the skies clean of enemy fighters. Rail guns are OPERATIONAL in the pacific theater and laser guns are in the testing phase (this minimizes the threat from land and air based ballistic missiles. Japan and Taiwan has Aegis cruisers and Japan has a STRONG national defense army. The swarm attacks that China will be forced to use will result in MASSIVE casualties for them. The USN will quite literally dominate the seas (sinking or restricting any Chinese surface ships from the seas and the appearance of Virginia class attack subs (which are OPERATIONAL already) will eliminate the underwater threat. U.S. casualties on the Korean peninsula will be high but U.S. response would create casualties on a level we cannot imagine. Make no mistake.... the existence of nukes protects the Russians and Chinese from annihilation... not the other way around.

    This would be such a difficult scenario to display . So many unknowns . Bottom line the US has the most experienced , best trained Navy by far. US ships are faster . The US has far more bombers than Russia and China added together . The US sub fleet is larger and more capable . The US is far more capable of projecting massive firepower . The 800 US bases could pressure Russia by mobilizing on Russia’s western border splitting Russian forces costing Russia billions to support defenses. The US could interfere with Chinese shipping and block oil transports . If the scenario ever started to play out Japan would freak out and rush to support US forces as to defend Japan . It is not possible for Japan to stay neutral their very survival depends on the US prevailing in any war . Plus TIAWAN also depends on the US for survival . The US , TIAWAN and Japan could make China and Russian Navies struggle to gain access to blue water pacific areas .

ANY buildup for this kind of operation, to include moving supplies and troops, would trigger an INSTANT response by the U.S. and ships would sortie weeks before the Chinese could move. Well it's nice to see all the youtube military experts down below that have never served in a military or been in combat that know exactly what would happen lol.
    First off as someone who served as an officer in the US army for 11 yrs (2000-2011) with two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan I will try to give my opinion on what would happen.
    Well first off any major attack by China and Russia wouldn't be a surprise to US and Japanese forces. The US would easily notice major troop and equipment being moved around long before the attack happned. So the US and Japanese would be ready for the attack. It would take the Chinese and Russians months to prepare for an attack of that size, if not longer. Secondly you need to remember that Chinese solders aren't very well trained. The biggest threat to US/Japnese forces would be of course Chinese/Russian ballistic missile attacks. But US/Japanese forces would be ready for them and would limit their damage. As far as Chinese/Russian navy attacking US naval ships it would be extremely costly for them because the US airpower and the strength of the US Navy. US submarines would destroy a lot of their landing ships and launch cruise missiles at their bases inland. After a few months the US would have neutralized any threats.
    End the end the US might lose a 10 to 20 ships and 50 to 60 aircraft (depending on how many they lost to ground strikes). Meanwhile the Chinese and Russian would have to rebuild their whole Navy and air force.
    Russia doesn't have the funds to fight a long and large scale war against the US, plus it doesn't have the military power. China wil always be a regional threat but still lacks the training and equipment.

    A big flaw in the Chinese island hopping plan is that you're not counting on how effective the air assets on Okinawa will be in the case of an attack. Also the carrier support. F-35 and AV8B aircraft from amphibious assault ships already in the area will also be brought to that fight. There will already be a Marine Corps MAGTF, (Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force), in the area on a six month float on assault ships. This will include infantry elements, artillery, armor, Cobras, fighter, and attack aircraft to support Okinawa. A land attack on the island would have 15k Marines that know the island defending it until that MAGTF. News flash. Roughly 6000 Marines defended Khe Sanh against roughly 36k North Vietnamese, and held it with basic resources, and minimal resupply. That's not including the JDF personnel stationed on the island. Okinawa would hold as long as they needed to.

    • @marcofava

      True but you also need to remember how each faction sees and has seen casualties in their campaigns.
      Russian and Chinese forces are happy with a 2:1 loss ratio, while the U.S. is very averse to large casualties because the U.S. population would simply not stand for it, the Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, the Tet Offenisve, Korea and more recently Afghanistan have shown that.

      On the global stage not really, especially because it would show that there are limits to how far the U.S. will go for it's allies, exactly like what happened in Vietnam, whether for aversion to losses or fear of further escalation.
      They'd need a few tens of thousands American dead and even just a single Super Carrier damaged if not outright sunk to end the idea of the U.S.A. as a global super power.
      On another note the Red Side or any nation for that matter has any incentive in fighting a conventional war with the Blue side and if they do it's probably going to be as a diversionary tactic rather than any winning ambition.
      With the Bulk of U.S. forces engaged in the Japanese and South China sea there would be nothing stopping the Red side from incentivising the likes of Iran to try their Hand at the Middle East or expanding their influence in south America.

    • @konfunable

    • @marcofava
      @marcofava 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@konfunable True NATO would have to be considered, however you have to remember Japan is not a part of NATO but rather a U.S. Ally under entirely different treaties as such legally speaking NATO would not necessarily be required to respond (sort of like Germany did not need to declare war on the U.S. post Pearl Harbour in WW2) and the Red side would pay a lot of attention not to trigger a full NATO response if their sole interest was knocking the USA out of Japan.
      Following that the only other major conglomerate of nations that would get involved I think would be the European Union, but since the U.K. is out and they were the main proponents and supporters for U.S. Foreign policy within the Union they are likely to sit it out as well mostly because out of the now big 3 (Italy, Germany and France) none is too inclined to get into a conflict with Russia that may then encroach on European Soil if Russia gets overly triggered, plus only Italy and France have the naval power projection capabilities to realistically lend any aid that far east, and even then it'd be a logistical endeavour of monumental proportions, when they'd probably pressure the Union in staying out and keeping their forces close to home, because if something of the kind was going down a World War would not be that far away.
      But you are right, the U.S. would likely win the overall war as far as casualties and material damage is concerned but it would leave them incredibly weak everywhere else.
