Hi dad. So many iconic images of yours. Awesome to see you at work. Love you!
Great video. Very well done. Pentax needs a lot more of this type of exposure. They make excellent quality cameras and lenses. They just need to do a better job of letting people know about them.
I would love everything on that table
Yes I chose this location in Marble Canyon especially for this project.
It won't be the last! :-) We'll happily keep em coming! Thanks for the support!
Not many of us out there, pleased to meet you
Pentax is the best
I am really keen on getting use different lenses for my DSLR and this video really helped. I've been clueless on what would be the next lens i should get, until now. Thanks for putting it into a clearer perspective! THANKS A LOT!
Bravo! Well done. A nicely illustrated primer on lens basics. The scenery certainly compliments what you've explained and should inspire those viewers to further pursue this subject.
Absolutely outstanding video. I've shared this to my newby photographer friends and it has helped them a lot. Seriously, a superbly done instructional video.
Thanks for the Blue K-30 love, Kerrick!
Incredible sum-up of the Pentax lenses in general and helps in lens selection for many photographers. Pentax badly needs more of videos like this. Keep it up! Just subscribed and shared this video.
Thanks for making a video with Kerrick James!
So many awesome lenses to collect! I already have the DA21mm and the DA70mm. Really solid performers those two. Also love my pancake 40mm XS kit lens.
WOW! i love this video! ( i mean, its pentax advertisement, but i'm a pentaxian, so i like it)
keep up the good work!
one question: it would be great, if you could tell us how much each lens costs, as you go along showing them in the videos, so we can easily tell if it's in our budget or not
I carried the blue K-30 up to the summit of Mt. Whitney last September and pushed it pretty hard, including at high ISO's. It writes RAW images faster than the K5IIs, likely as it has a newer image processor and works in 12 bit I believe. I could easy shoot magazine features with the K-30, and if weight is an issue for a hike, the K-30 is the lightest of my three SDLR's, after the K5IIs and 645D of course. I actually like the blue hue, and the K-30 is an easy camera to carry anywhere.
I am playing around with my new K-30 - my first DSLR and my first SLR in 20 years.... so much to learn.... luckily I got a kit with two lenses, so I can get a 'feel' before I decide which direction I want to go.
Finally something great done! Good job Pentax!
I have quite a lot of focal lengths, including two limiteds and two DA* teles.
I would say that the 50-135mm is indeed and excellent choice for short to medium tele, and superb in the studio.
I have both. Go first for 50-135mm. Then you'll see if you need faster and lighter lens. 50-135 is really great and versatile portrait lens. But if you need lens for action shoot, then go for 60-250 - it focuses faster than 50-135. Any way you will be happy with any of those.
Thanks for the great work!
a good step for Pentax system marketing. Pentax needs more something like this to be more visible.
If price is not an issue I personally prefer the FA 31mm F1.8 Limited lens for street photography. Other slightly cheaper options would be the FA 43mm F1.9 Limited, the DA 50mm F1.8 and the DA* 55mm F1.4. All of these lenses are great even wide open so I would not hesitate to use any of them at maximum aperture.
Nice video, thanks for the great work!
Thanks for sharing the details about your use of the K-30, Kerrick. Agree with the commentators who feel that Pentax sorely needs more videos and generally visible marketing efforts like this. Why, for example, is the K-5 IIs still so much under the radar? At least, the lenses got their own video now - will it be the last?
the DA 15/4 limited rocks! :)
Great stuff!

GREAT VIDEO!!! I am a pentaxian :)
GREAT VIDEO!!! I am a Pentaxian :)
First - because when I made my decision, Pentax system was really the best bang fot the buck. Second - I was sure I never will be a pro photographer. Serious amateur, a hobbyist? Maybe. And Pentax had and still has all what advanced photo hobbyist can want. There is only one thing really wrong - to high prices for the top range lenses (DA* series for example).
Sounds amazing! im recently stuck debating between a K-5 and a K-30. It will be my second Dslr purchase and I would love to buy one that is rugged, great for shooting landscape, architecture, wildlife, as well as performing great video capture (for time lapse). How does video capturing fare on your k30? Do you find that you run out of battery juice often (k5 has longer battery life)? Im really leaning towards the blue k30 and a 18-135mm lens but many reviews state how great the k5 is.
very informative
Great video, though you should bring up the 1.5 crop issue for beginners.
I had an old 35 mm Pentax with 2 lenses. Recently I bought a k5-2. My son's wrestle in high school and college and I have always wanted to take wrestling pictures of them and the team. Everything this camera can do and using the right lense is a bit overwhelming. I have 2 lenses from my old camera. 100-300 mm 4.5-6.7 & 28-90 mm. 3.5-5.6 Any advice or resources would be appreciated. This video was a great beginning for me.
EXCELLENT.
Still waiting for my 28mm and 35mm (35mm eq.) primes...
thats quite a backdrop for a show kerrick @@..
what goos under f2 lens can i use for street photos on the street with my k5II?
Nice Video. Go Pentax :)
What about FA Limited lenses?
So which pentax camera used to make this video ?
Pentax K-30
Sure that You can take better macro with that 100mm lens.
I kinda doubt Kerrick James shoots much with a blue DSLR. I'll bet he uses the 645d and K5II more often.
