I have done a good bit of security and there was nothing criminal about that. No reason to detain him, no reason to escalate that situation at all. If he wants to leave let him.

I believe that this had something to do with IRS laws, state laws , gambling laws etc. that require the casino to pay only the person who actually played the slot machine.
One reason for this is if a minor were to hit the jackpot the minor can't circumvent the law by getting someone else to claim the prize and then share it. Also illegal aliens are not entitled to winnings and could look for someone to claim the prize and then share it.
The casino idiots got suspicious when he left a jackpot winning slot machine to someone else and didn't seem to be too eager to claim the money. Showing them a suspicious non picture drivers license. Not eager to want to fill out the required IRS papers and eventually walking away from the winnings.
Suspicion that a crime was committed or was about to be committed gave the cops a right to detain him. They did try to talk to him and he looked at them and then kept walking by them. He then resisted when they tried to stop him. Then it just got ugly from there.
Had he just explained the situation, I don't believe the cops would have treated a senior citizen like that.They did not drag him through the casino by the hair as he stated.
Another commenter wrote that the case was thrown out and he had to pay the casino for expenses.
Clearly outrageous behavior by the casino security and the police. We can't hear what was being said but it doesn't seem that DAC was being problematic. And he was walking away...keep in mind that he was a jackpot WINNER! No reason to treat any patron like that. Without the footage the casino would have probably made up a bogus story of Coe being threatening or assaulting them. Shameful!

@@-FALKOR Sounds like the casino has some sort of "connection" with the judge. It was casino personnel that involved the sheriffs. Coe was retreating from confrontation. The casino clearly initiated the action that subsequently resulted in injury.

Fuck all Casinos. I worked construction in Vegas and I lived in a dive just across from the Showboat and I can tell you I saw thousands of losers and rarely saw anyone win. Everyone was happy going into the casinos but looked sicker than hell coming out.

Prairie Meadows Security has Always been over Aggressive! This is Pretty Sad! From Winning a Jackpot of being happy to being Attacked by Thug Security And Thug Polk County Sheriff Deputy's!!!!!
Coe ended up suing the Casino. But even though his story checked (went down exactly as Coe said), the judge had his case thrown out. The judge (who was himself later in trouble), said that the deputies who arrested Coe weren't "technically" employees of the casino, so the casino couldn't be held liable. Coe got hosed here, and somebody shoulda been held accountable for this dispicable encounter.
Coe got pissed-on all his life (no family, reform schools and prison till he was about 28yo). That's how he began his life. The fact that this guy turned his life around and became a famous country singer (with a number of top 10 hits) is an amazing story. I love his music (and as others here say, he really is a national treasure). He never even got an apology.
Wonder how much money the casino paid the judge. Murica, the most corrupt country on earth, and we point at other countries.

Tennessee might’ve been doing an older type of license that didn’t require photo and it could be so old it’s at a time where they did 50 or 100 year license? Could’ve don’t know for sure but just my guess

This footage wasn’t from vegas. It was at the prairie meadows racetrack and Casio outside des monies Iowa. Those dudes treated him like one of the hogs the state is known for. I think norm Macdonald got similar treatment in Iowa.
Im from iowa, we have a lot of little dicked pricks in uniforms here. They treated DAC the way they did because of how he looked. Most places in Des Moines treat customers like this.
