I'm surprised you showed one side of their advantage but not the other. Their bonus works on all missiles, including large missiles. It also works on small missiles, including small torpedoes, which, you know, can actually apply their damage to fast, small targets. I am personally a fan of the honeypot, though I haven't pulled it out since they reworked extenders. Essentially I would drift out into space as if I fell asleep, wait for someone to get close, preferably a small ship, and then activate my jammers, webs, large extender, and large neut to just eat them alive.
what would you say would be the best PvP ship? Battleships are to slow and just cant keep up with frigates and well frigates/destroyers are just to squishy.
@@captainbenzie as someone who is returning to eve echos and is 10% away from tech 10 which frigate/destroyer do you recommend using? money isnt an issue since all i did before i left was mine. I like doing a lot of damage as quickly as possible while not having any issue fighting larger ships.
I fly this as well and I have it set up to do anti faction frigs because it looks unassuming. I also can take on a raven with ease. Can also do t10 medium anoms if you are into ratting.
You can more than half the range of their missiles - slap a guidance disruption range GU on there & just watch how much that range reduction affects the enemy missiles. I have a tracking disruption range reduction GU fitted on my Arby II CO & the range reduction on the tracking disruptor has shot up to 61% 😊
This was one of the first two cruisers I had built upon coming out to Nullsec. I still have my Blackbird CovOps 1 parked in station. I use to bring it out all the time when helping bust up gate camps with the possibility of the enemy using Ravens. However, I agree NetEase made this too niche. A bonus to something that only affects one system versus Tracking which affects four. I would have loved to be able to have ECM instead.
Love this ship line I'm only T7 and in the first line cov ops but I'm able to fit a large neut and a large rep on this beast. What this ship excels at via cov ops is the ability to really pick it's target with a cloak and scanner. Yes I use a neut vs the guidance disruption but with a 20km range on a large neut the disruption kinda seems meh when you can complete shut down most cruisers in two cycles. The power grid plus cruiser engineering skills really let's you play with some surprising fits.
How would this look with torps and any large torps? Also bs eng reduces large weapon pg cost too. Honestly meta might favor torps since large ships are gonna be prominent and maybe bomber 3s might get more sure with these huge slow ships?
Good vid and your right the blackbird doesnt get enough love. I fly the dictor version from time to time and choose it because of the big shield and pg. It fits a lg shield booster very comfortably. Also i think it may have the coolest killmark location with it being just off center on the top of the ship it accents the design nicely
yes, there was an “anti logi fleet” which were composed on cepters, faction frigs and e war cruisers. Taught me a valuable lesson…. never underestimate e war ships. Celestis are a bane on logicanes and blackbird, arbiter and bellicose are a bane on everybody else (medium or small ships) who will try to deter them. Not fun when on their receiving end.
Big numbers on dps are not always needed in pvp. Survivability is. Bell3 is so damn fast with a mwd and some speed rigs is super survivable, and only at about 500 dps. Bell2 is just as good, just cheaper. My dd is running 430 dps but it’s a beast in null (doesn’t have the points for low sec hunting). I like your second fit here. In a slow ship, major tank is needed for pvp, though I would sacrifice some dps for less pg, so I could active tank it. Don’t like having one pop and then the fight will be over before I am able to hit it again
I can appreciate the coverage of a ship that is definitely not talked about or seen very often, but you're missing the key point of the Blackbird hull. It's even in the ship description at the bottom of the stats page for the ship. It's not meant to be a head to head, 1 on 1 fighter. It's meant to be a support vessel. Supporting a fleet with e-war. Can you go head to head with it? Yes...but it's not designed for that. Plain and simple. I love the ship as much as any other Caldari enthusiast...but you have to fly a ship for what it's meant to do to be successful. If you want a slugger, fly a Drake. This is the wrong Caldari ship for that. There's always an exception to the rule, yes...and you CAN go 1 on 1 with it. It's just, as you talked about extensively...going to take some finesse. Some people will enjoy that part of it and some will not. Those who don't will find a more suitable option like the Bellicose.
@@captainbenzie each to their own. I’ve always seen the BB & the drake as the sun roofs of some other space ship that has fallen off & been lost to the ether….
This is one of those ships that looks the part, its a gorgeous amalgamation of diferent styles and references. Maybe the first version of this scared pilots away (The one with the Scan bonus). Besides its rather slow, with really bad agility, takes ages to turn (for a Cruiser), but, those bonuses to the missile guidance slot and overall bulkyness opens up a nice niche in where this ship can shine. PVP Ship all the way. The Belli its definetly a beast since the missile mechanic its bugged in Echoes the T.Painter bonus goes a long way. Then again this is about context, and engaging a misile pilot is where the money is with the Blackbird. Fly safe. o7
I am sad and mad when there is a partual implementation from an EO mechanic. Is the decision making person in NE a complete anty-gamer, money-now person?
You could also do with Battleship Engineering on that large rapid fit - that’ll reduce the PG usage of those large rapids
Isn't the missile bonus on the blackbird for all size missles and the Belli gets only for medium missles?
