    What about using the MPK249 arp or note repeat in Reason, do you have any suggestions?

      Hey there! Yes One thing you wanna do is be sure that the synchronization on reason is mapped to push to your MPK 249 so that it plays in time with it. I’ll probably have to put together a video to show you how to do that it’s it’s in the preferences menus / tabs

      I mean could it be easier? Maybe. But I don’t find Reason hard to use for the most part, I actually find it pretty intuitive, but I come from a hardware background so… What DAW do you use?

    • @ericclement1598
      @ericclement1598 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i feel like the integration with reason is always less extensive than other DAWs which sucks because reason is my favourite DAW

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ericclement1598 hey there -I know what you mean. But you can map you controller in a lot of ways, the issue is the “immediacy “ you (mostly) don’t get an out of the box solution. However, Reason is still worth it - it gives you a lot of control (more than almost any other DAW) I’ll have to put together a video to show what I mean - but there are “controls” on VSTs that are not meant to be CSS accessible directly- these many times show up in combinators, giving Reason users the cheat code to access “hidden abilities” Try loading up some Arturia plugins in combinators and you’ll start seeing what I mean.

    Yes, this does work but only on one instrument track. When switching to another track, the override is still controlling the synth in the other track that was programmed with the override. And, if you want to override controls in the new track you have to erase them from the other one.

      @@Cap10NRGMusic Wow thank you. The tempo increments every 8 which is 999(tempo) / 127(button). I am trying to achieve an increment of 1 with the knob and limit the tempo range from say 50-170. Your help is greatly appreciated :)

      No worries I made the video - had some ridiculous audio issues I finally tracked down (one of my cameras was feeding audio in and I could not figure out where it was coming from - pc fan noise ugh) but I need to finish it up. Thinking about it though - I’m not sure whether this will or won’t help. Guess we’ll try it and see fingers crossed. I think the issue is that no matter what a combinator knob can only ever be 0-127… do the divide is inevitable - what is the instrument you are using? I wonder if there is a second mutiplier cc… if you have 0-999 and 1000/128= rounds up to 8 , there is possibly a second cc that divides that 8 by 128 making it possible to increment by .0625 bpm so value 1=0 value 2=0-127, then value 1=1 and again value 2 =0-127…

      @@Cap10NRGMusic Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I successfully control Ableton's tempo using single value adjustments via a dedicated tempo knob on an AKAI APC40 MkII. To sanity test, I mapped that same knob to Reason's tempo and ran into the same problem of 8 steps minimum!
      For this reason I am convinced it has something to do with the DAW settings. Reason is my DAW of choice, so I'll continue to seek out a way to make that a reality. I'l look out for you new video.

    Hmmmm. I want to get a knob fader controller for synth programming and FX parameters. akai midimix or something like that. My worry is that if I go to another synth and map that when I go back to the previous synth the control will be reset which slows down productivity. WIsh you could save that in a combinator or something.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well there are options. You could create a script for your controller to work with Reason if you know LUA. I’m pretty sure that’s fine which that they use to write their connection scripts. Or you could look at the manual that comes with reason and re-map your controller so that the mappings from the knobs on your controller match each synthesizer in Reason most synthesizers have a control set listed in the manual. For example say control change 74 on a synthesizer is cut off, you could on most midi controllers create a template that said slide or one exports control 74 slider to exports 75 which might be resonance I’m just saying… and since most controllers will allow you to create multiple templates some up to 256 you could theoretically create a template for each synthesizer you want mapped out and then just change templates on your controller. Once they’re written that would be that and you’d be good to go. I’ve actually contemplated doing this for my Akai MPK249 but I’ve just never had the time to do it. I can try and put together a video to show you how to set this up if you want have you subscribed? If not please do because it will be a lot of work thanks

    Yes BUT.. WHAT ABOUT 3rd party VST/plugins. It's one thing to map the reason instruments but what about mapping third party? And then there's the knob measurements ...

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, as far as third-party VST‘s, I’ve never had a problem, wrapping any of them you actually have options you can map them directly to another controller where you can wrap them in a combinator, which is something I generally like to do because it gives you access to the main controls you want to access From the front of the reason rack without opening the VST up. I don’t know what you mean by knob measurements… I’ve never heard anyone call anything that measurements before, so I’m not sure what that is. If you want more information, please subscribe I’ll be happy to try and help you out. Tell me what VST you using and I’ll see what I can do to show you how to use it/map it

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I am not really sure - I’m sure there is something about channel selection in the manual. There is (at least on the controllers I’ve used) a “setup” for various daws. Like for example the MPK249 when you power up rotate the knob to choose from several pre configured DAWs or make your own.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to say did you mean that the knob is stuck on one device after you said it? If that was what you meant then that is the way it works. You can change the machine in the knob, but it will be locked to whatever you tell to be locked too, until you change devices.

    These controllers no matter the brand are not worth buying, the software we use moves faster than the development of the hardware! Every 2 years or so you need to upgrade cause these hardware companies Akai especially don't keep up with their drivers/firmware when new updates of software comes out. Nektar has yet to update the lx+ models ,its been 2 years I wish I never brought it!

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure what your experience has been… I personally have used the nectar and I have an MPK249 as well as many other controllers and they all just spit out MIDI And since I use them as such I never have had an issue ever they work perfect. In some cases there is some configurations that needs to happen of course. If you’re having a specific problem let me know and I’ll see what I can do to help you out.

    • @AuralVirus
      @AuralVirus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cap10NRGMusic how is the nectar playing with RSN12? wanting to buy both but read a few articles saying 12 is no longer playing as well with the nectar as it did in 10 (?) If I recall ther Nectar T series is the newer version and I'm considering going T6 but if it's not as compatible then second up are either Novation of Akai 49 key midi alts.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I don’t have any of the T series devices. I have the panorama and it works pretty well still I mean what it doesn’t do is support newer devices. What I mean by that is rack extensions it seems like they stop supporting many of the new rock extensions they became too many for it to keep up with I think. When reason studios opened rack extension development to the world. It became a situation where now rack extensions were not coming out from just reason studios anymore at a rate of five per year they were coming out at a rate of your five per week… And that just became too much for them to keep up with. I’ve actually thought of looking into creating drivers for that device to keep it going for people who use it it’s just nothing in it for me really or anyone else other than just to keep it going you know. It seems that it is still compatible with most devices and it does export standard midi messages which you can map so maybe it doesn’t work the way that it was supposed to originally… But even the panorama which is many years older than the newer ones still works well and is perfectly playable. I do find it interesting when someone says the controllers aren’t worth purchasing. Reality is you need something to control virtual synthesizers even if it is just a software to hardware controller. I mean yes you could use just a regular keyboard but you lose our knobs in such that’s kind of why I like my Akai MPK249. It doesn’t try to be locked into some piece of software which is where the problems arise. For example the panorama by nectar and even the native instruments keyboards try to be the controller for their software - that’s where it becomes a problem because when the software surpasses the controller the controller seems to be useless. But it never really is as long as it works in puts out standard cc messages
