    For us Gentile Christians, we should side with Jesus and focus on Him. And tell Israel to believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah and to stop the ritual killing of the Paschal lamb because Jesus already fulfilled that on the cross (Hebrews 7:27; 10:10).

      I wondered about that comment. Does covenant breaking mean that God isn't going to be faithful to his covenant promises? certainly, once a covenant stipulations are broken, sanctions are permitted under the covenant agreement. However, GOD KEEPS, what we fail to keep. This does not mean that God doesn't send adversaries to punish Israel. This does not mean that God does not send diaspora to his people. However, it also doesn't mean that God won't send them back to that same land (1948), and allow for a seemingly endless infighting with the people in that region for their rejection of his Son.

      @@tentmaker2254 They've done that. Many are becoming born again. Lots of Jews are finding Christ here in the End Times. More now than any other time in history. The Jews are also returning home. They do not want to live in America anymore. Are they perfect? No. But neither are we. So yes, they are obeying God. Obey and inherit the land is a requirement correct? Well, they're doing that. Could they do it a little better? Perhaps, but the Jews have shortcomings just like the gentiles.
      I would even argue, they could have done it a little sooner too. But that is on God's timing also. Will every Jew accept Christ and obey God perfectly? I highly doubt it. But more of them will as the End Times progress.

    • @EndureTyrant
      @EndureTyrant 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@sonlightmusic the land was given unconditionally to God's chosen people, but them being his chosen people was conditional on them keeping his commandments. When Jesus came and a new covenant was established, the Jews who didn't believe were in violation of this covenant, thus making them no longer his chosen people, and no longer the rightful heirs of the land. It seems the only reason the Jewish people have held the land is because of the few faithful that live there that believe in Jesus. (Galatians 3:28-29) The old promise was not abolished (Galatians 3:17-18), and never will be, but the promise applies to those who serve God, not one people of a certain heritage, but all who call upon the name Jesus.

      Too bad this is not the correct answer, unfortunately.
      The promise of the land given to Abraham was an UNCONDITIONAL COVENANT (see Gen. 15). In other words, it was a categorical promise conditioned only by one party - God - who alone walked between the sacrifice as Abraham was sleeping.
      We are saved by the righteousness of God, that is, by his mercy and love given in Messiah, and not by our own abilities to keep covenant with God, for faith itself is a gift, not a work that justifies us. We are dead in sin and only a miracle of God saves us. Full stop.

    This is spot on! Ive been thinking how in the past I would usually just focus (like most Christians) on how Israel has the Biblical right to the land, and Hamas among others wants to exterminate them. But since being there, meeting and speaking with them on both sides, most Israelis and Palestinians just want to live their lives and feed their families. Jesus died for both sides and we shouldn't be so focused on who gets the land that'll be replaced with the new Jerusalem anyway. Getting them in there should be our focus.
    Today's culture of us-vs-them is so easy to fall into, especially with the media. This reminds me of Joshua chapter 5: "Who's side are you on?..." "Neither..."

During the Passion Week Jesus told the Jewish leaders, "the kingdom of God is taken away from you and given to a nation bearing the fruit thereof" (I Peter 2:9). That nation is the church consisting of ethnic Jews and gentiles, according to I Peter 2:9. I Peter 2:9 is a direct quote from Exodus 19:6, indicating that the church has replaced the NATION of Israel in the New Testament era. The NATION of Israel no longer has any special place in God's plan. Hello friend, if you're a calvinist than please don't blame Israel for their unbelief, stiff neckedness, idolatry, blasphemy and any other vile sin they have committed in their history or the present for that matter!
      You know why because as a consistent calvinist (like Piper), who have to believe God decreed them to do it, like ALL OTHER EVIL!
      As I'm not I think this is quite easy to handle without demonising our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
      I don't disagree with John 15.23 neither am I saying they cannot do or say evil. The Apostle Paul concludes all have sinned and Jew and Gentile sin alike:
      Romans 3:9 KJV - What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
      Where they fell short God punished them. In fact scripture says they received double for their transgression.
      Isaiah 54:8-10 KJV - In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
      For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
      For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
      But it was never permanent and God brought them back when they repented and because of their promise to Abraham and the land.
      (The land promise was unconditional not based on Israel morality but God's faithfulness and promise to Abraham.
      Genesis 15:12 KJV - And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
      Genesis 15:17 KJV - And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
      That's way God ONLY passed through the animals, it was based on God's faithfulness not on Israel's faithfulness.

      Israel are in UNBELIEF & IN THE LAND fulfilling Zech 12 etc
      Zechariah 12:7-10 KJV - The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.
      In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
      And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

    A timeless message it seems, released 5 years ago, yet perfectly applicable to today 10/14/2023, and based on a holistic view of Scripture! Lots of voices out there, but it's wise to closely check the content before believing the messengers, most of whom are going straight to end times prophecy rather than a balanced approach that considers the Bible's full message. It's the incredibly sordid history of mankind's (except for a few bright spots) rejection of God's message to mankind at many times and in various ways. Now God has spoken through His Son, offering amazing grace, and still He is largely rejected or ignored. A time is coming when that offer ends, replaced by judgment and restoration, when Christ Jesus reigns with true peace and righteousness. Thank you Pastor Piper!

      I don't think pastor John said that God broke His covenant, he said the people of Israel (as a whole) have not honoured their end of the bargain. Therefore, they do not have immediate right to the benefits of the covenant (claiming the land as divine right). Think about Christ dying for us sinners; we surely have the blood of Jesus as The Authority against death BUT we are bound to death UNTIL we repent and confess the Lord and Saviour. God has faithfulness, grace & mercy for everyone who's WILLING to honour Him, along with His commandments.

    The question is, who is Israel according to Jesus?
    Jesus told the scribes and pharisees that they were “sons of hell!”
    He said “Your father is the devil!”
    We act as if we know who “Israel” is.
    We can’t!
    It’s not a group but an individual salvation!
    Same with Christians.
    They also said to The Lord,“But we are children of Abraham!”
    Jesus said “if Abraham was your father, you would believe me !”
    Then Jesus sort of mocked them saying “ I can make children of Abraham out of these stones.”
    The just shall live by faith. Not lineage!
    “But what about the scripture that says all Israel will be saved?
    Again. Who is Israel?
    That takes study and discernment.

    Pastor Piper’s mistake here is not understanding the unconditional covenant God made with Abraham regarding the land during the “covenant of the parts” (see Gen. 15).
    The apostle Paul referred to the earlier-than-Sinai covenant to make the point that he was not anti-Torah since the promise of the gospel was rooted in the promise given to Abraham 400 years before the law was given at Sinai. Grace is based on God’s promise, not the works of righteousness that would warrant God’s blessing. Prayerfully re-read Jeremiah 31:31-38, the ONLY place in the Old Testament that defines the New Covenant of Messiah and then ask yourself if the LORD has forsaken the Jewish people. Then re-read John 4:22.
    May the Lord God of Israel give you wisdom as you seek the truth.

    • @itsweaponX
      @itsweaponX 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is the part I would disagree with Piper on. Yes, covenant breaking forfeits covenant privilege but this statement is too reductionistic. God's covenant to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and confirmed through David and the prophets are both conditional and unconditional. God promised punishment for chasing other idols. But God also foresaw the disobedience and he still promised unconditionally that he would restore the Jews back to the Promised Land at an appointed time, even though they do not seek him. It is conditional and unconditional because Christ takes the punishment of covenant breaking and also fulfills the obedience needed to secure covenant blessings. Ezekiel 37 captures the picture vividly when God says he will raise up "the people of Israel" like a valley of dead, dry bones and "settle you in your own land." (v14). I noticed Piper mention Rom 11 and the future dehardening and en-masse salvation of Jews but he did not mention the promises of the Jews inheriting the land when the Son of David returns and reigns on the earth from Jerusalem (I'm pretty sure he is a post-trib premillennialist and believes in this). Many OT prophecies like this are all over the Prophets and Psalms, they do not have their final fulfillment in the Gentile church but only in the people and land of Israel. So we ought not only to pray for the salvation of Jews but also for the land to be restored back to them and against the demonic Anti-Semitism that seeks to destroy them (manifested in many Arab nation's vehement hatred and attempts to annihilate the Jews).

This is important as God's punishment for Israel as dictated in scripture never included them losing the land God gave them. Excellent pastor John Piper. God has a plan for Israel, but the modern state of Israel is a not restored Messiah believing Israel, it is neither above nor below any other country.

      What do you think the tribulation is for? It's when God deals w/ the Jews/Israel. You are so blinded if you don't think Israel and the Jews are God's chosen people, they are HIS chosen people FOREVER. They always have been and they always will be.

      I have Jewish ancestory but this doesn't make me any more special then the next man who believes in Jesus Christ. You have to accept Jesus Christ before you can ever see the light and the truth and to have eternal life through Christ the only way. There is no other way. A strip of land doesn't save you any more than cutting off your foreskin. Don't rely on dirt to save you but of the blood of the Lamb which is the whole point in Passover it's the blood of Jesus that saves us. The blood of the Lamb defeats death alone. I can only think that God would give this land back so that those who seek after such desires still to this day will reap what they sow as a judgement. And once again instead of having God and the temple that they wish to build they will worship the devil once again. The Third Temple will not be built with human hands but will be built perfect streets of gold by God himself. Did you not understand that Jesus went to go and prepare a place for you? What does any of this on earth have a value? he is preparing a place for you. We are not of this world my Christian brothers and sisters but we are merely ambassador's to the world. There will be a new Heaven and a new Earth.

      @@siouxwarrior5396 I take it you don't believe in a literal Bible. There will be a third temple rebuild and it will be soon. Where do you think the anti-christ goes when he desecrates the Holy of Holies. To McDonalds? I am not worshiping the Jews, Israel or their land. I believe in a literal Bible. I believe when God said he makes an everlasting conenant w/ the Abraham and it will last forever that is exactly what He means. Forever. The tribulation is where God deals w/ the Jews. The church age will be over and a new dispensation will start. The only way to salvation is through Jesus and His blood. It is by Grace through Faith. Period. No other way.

      @@tudfrey Anybody who believes that Jesus Is messiah becomes One of God’s Chosen people. All who have faith in Christ are God’s Chosen people. Not you’re race or ethnicity or skin colour. If a Jew doesn’t believe that Christ is messiah he will not be saved.

    • @tudfrey
      @tudfrey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Doktoreee You are correct. But I am not talking about salvation. I am talking about God's chosen people group. That chosen people group is Israel. If you don't think God chose Israel then you need to go back and study the OT. The Church did not and will never replace Israel. Just so you are clean Jesus is a Jew. Jesus is returning to Israel, Jerusalem specifically. He will set up his earthly kingdom in Jerusalem. All the Apostles as Jews. Jesus came to the Jews. He did not preach to the gentiles he came to the Jews. Paul took the gospel to the gentiles. Israel belongs to the Jews and no one else. Stop listening to J. Piper and study for yourself and see what he Bible really has to say. Let the Bible interpert the Bible. Stop being a 5 pt. Calvinist and really study the the word of God.

    God has brought them back to their land in unbelief. Paul says “Has God rejected his people? God forbid!” The day is coming when all Israel will be saved. The land belongs to Israel in preparation of Messiah’s return on that day when the dry bones will come alive spiritually, and the boundaries of the land will be more than a sliver.

    What’s happening to Israel makes me sad, read Jeremiah 30:12-17. Such an aching pain to see these people kill each other. The land has been plundered down to the roots. I don’t know what is going to be with this mess. If it comes down to peace, what then to the unequally yoked. I don’t know if having an union of religions bothers me more than the actual problem, but what do I know. I pray that they all see Jesus.

    If memory serves me correctly, John Piper once said he does not think it is justified to kill an intruder even if he knows that his wife would be raped and his children are to be killed. I must assume that he then would think that Israel can't justifiably kill the "people" that cut babies out of their living mothers and de-capitated the baby, tortured then killed the elderly and women and children. I would love to know exactly what Mr. Piper thinks Israel should do regarding the unprovoked butchery of its citizens? If I have misrepresented any factual information above please correct my errors.

    Inherit land in Israel? Why? Abraham was seeking a heavenly city, not real estate in the East. The Israel of God are those in Messiah. Jew and Gentile doesn't exist. A remnant of ethnic Israel will be saved, but that is not the people there since 1948. The ethnic Israel matters not. They need Christ and are lost in sin until then. The church is Israel. The physical land promises were fulfilled during the reign of Solomon you can see this in First Kings 4:20 through 25 and second chronicles 9:26 states that all the physical promises were fulfilled.

    We worship the God of Israel through the Jewish messiah. For someone from the reformed camp who holds a view of sovereignty the way he does, it is remarkable that he fails to see that it is God orchestrating the events in the middle east. These events forecast the soon return of Jesus. Anyone failing to see this has a lack of oil in their lamp.

    This can ONLY be fulfilled with ISRAEL back in the land in UNBELIEF!!

      True, the Lord God made covenants with the bible patriarchs such as the Davidic covenant which is a non conditional one not based upon their obedience.

    Ezekiel 36 explains that the Lord will bring the people of Israel who are scattered, back into the Land of Israel in a state of disobedience *for the sake of His holy name. *. It is for His namesake that he acts, and he acts by bringing them into the land. Go read it. Then he will give them a heart of flesh and put a new spirit in them (language of the Jeremiah 31 New Covenant). He brings them back even in disobedience because He is a God of covenant, and the covenant that He formed with Abraham is unilateral, unconditional, and everlasting. He fulfilled both sides of the agreement in Genesis 15. Romans 11:27-28 affirms that the gifts and calling of God to the Jewish people are irrevocable. We have seen this in process of fulfillment in the 20th Century as the Jewish people returned to Israel in unbelief. The greatest revival in the Jewish people that we have seen since the first century coinciding with the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967. To God be the Glory that He keeps his promises.
