I love how Skizz typed "flower" into the creative search and then proceeded to use flowering azalea leaves to build every flower. It's not about what it looks like, it's about what the block is named. Also torchflowers and cornflowers.
I'm sure if someone gave a prompt with the word "anchor" Skizz would make it out of respawn anchors.

I don't know what I expected when hearing this theme, but Joel being the only one of the boys to even go for a cutesy theme probably should've been it
He has a lot of practice because of Lizzie... he and she have a build vs build series and he is always creating cute pretty builds with her in mind. Lizzie is his muse.

Me: (Imagines a wondrous world where rabbits grow in the ground like plants, and are eventually born when they're picked by a friendly carrot)
Gem: (sees build) A carrot *_planting_* rabbits.
Gem: (Proceeds to spend the rest of the session upset about the rabbit burying, an idea which came entirely from her own head)
Gem was shown a depiction of the miracle of life, and saw only death.
I say this all in good fun, of course, but I think Impulse was absolutely following the theme.
If Impulse added some upwards movement to the scene, I think Gem would have understood it your way. But he didn't.

I love how Gem went for a super wholesome theme and it still ended up with a really graphic scene of a zombie murdering a flower and bunnies being buried alive

27:12, IN SKIZZ'S DEFENSE, those flower designs bear a VERY strong resemblance in shape and color to the Saguaro cactus, native to Skizz's home state of Arizona. I lived there for a bit and they're EVERYWHERE and they look just like that. 🌵
Yeah I was gonna say, cactus produce some beautiful flowers and those did look a lot like them. I don't blame Skizz for that.
I blame Skizz for almost everything else, but that one gets a pass.

What really surprised me is that he got the amount of years exactly correct. it came out in 2009.

The best part is that if he had actually done an actual bucket he could easily have had it flowing in a single column without spread pretty easily

grian interpreting skizz’s poker as chillies only for impulse to reinterpret the next build as a card game really shows how they’re on the same wavelength
Being friends and playing together for a long time does that
I've realized part of the reason Skizz struggles with building so much (not the entire reason, but part of it): he's *really* bad at seeing blocks as things other than their names. He's seen the way his friends build flowers, but he doesn't internalize what blocks or shapes they use or take a moment to digest what techniques he can take from their builds and use in his own, he just sees the final product like he's purely an observer viewing a picture rather than a fellow builder who could take a lesson away from the works of others. And so instead of thinking of using blocks to make a flower that a builder would consider obvious picks for making giant flowers (pink concrete, just about any purple block, moss etc.), he thought of flowering azalea leaves, likely because they have "flower" in the name. It's a very common issue among non-builders to get locked into thinking blocks can only be used as the materials they're named as, and learning to see blocks as things other than their name (seeing pink concrete as flower petals, seeing redstone dust as blood splatters, seeing blue glass as water, etc.) is a skill that would vastly improve Skizz's performance in these Guess the Build games.

Observations are observations (and in this case a potential bit of constructive insight for anyone who struggles in the same way Skizz does). Save the "not that serious" comments for the people who are being kill-joys.
That cut between Jimmy's "That's not a build" 'Sunflower' and Gem casually making an amazing flower was such a whiplash.

Joel being confused and freaking out at all the 'carrot bluffing' prompt is the best
also i love how both Skizz and Impulse went for carrots in their theme, so one braincell of them
Gem and Grian have all the other brain cells, Impulse, Jimmy, Joel and Skizz just fight for the 1 remaining
To be fair, carrots are one of the easiest vegetables to build and identify, as shown in contrast by the tomato/apple/pepper/banana

They probably cut the redundant ones, after all if they got the final guess right then why not just skip to the next build? Or maybe they just forgot in-game as well, anything is possible

This was really good and had me laughing a lot. I wish we got to hear the final guesses, but I still love seeing all the fun builds and (mis)interpretations.
