Dania Park Reef & Erojacks Scuba Dive 2024-02-03

Well, the South Florida Beach Divers are back after some rough ocean conditions for the past month. And we welcome back our illustrious leader The Beach Diver himself, Tom!
Since we’ve been landlocked for the past month, this was a great way to knock some rust off and get used to the gear again. I even bought myself a new Christmas present I have been waiting to try, a Shearwater Perdix 2 dive computer. Gotta say, love this new computer.
We had some pretty good visibility for all the storms that have passed and turned up the ocean lately. These storms and rough conditions have pulled a lot of sand off the beaches and has made its way out, 600 yards, to the reef. You can see Tom sticking his knife in the sand where it’s smothering some coral.
Overall, it was a great dive and good to be back in the water.

I haven’t seen the arrow jacks reef in 30 years
It looks about the same which is good news, lots of biodiversity.
It’s especially nice to see some live Florida Conch
They’ve been “no take” since I was a kid, maybe they are making a comeback
