Based out of South Florida, I have a passion for scuba diving, paddleboarding, outdoor adventures, country music, horses, and country line dancing. I am originally from the Philadelphia, PA area where I dove in some cold quarries, but always preferring to be here in the warm waters of South Florida. Come join me on some diving adventures as we explore the reefs of South Florida and the Florida Keys.

Mermaids Join Us for a Night Dive in Fort Lauderdale 2024-08-13
The South Florida Beach Divers made our way out for a night dive. And we were joined by two mermaids, Silvia & Nyssette!! While this reef is usually teeming with life during the day. The marine life was much harder to come across at night.

Our Secret Spot Pays Off with an Abundance of Marine Life 2024-07-27

A few of the South Florida Beach Divers headed to our secret spot, and we were not disappointed. After some rough waves for lobster mini season, the ocean. Lanes down and viz was great. Not many signs of lobsters here, so they likely got hit pretty good this year with people taking advantage of the two day event. #scubadiving,#scubacowboydoug,#beachdive,#aquanaut,#saltlife,#coralreef,#scuba,#so...
Exploring the Perry Street Rocks 2024-07-21
มุมมอง 3393 หลายเดือนก่อน
The wind picked up a little bit today and gave some 2-3ft waves to deal with, so we decided to stay in a little closer and explore the Perry Street Rock pile. Spots around the rocks were covered with fish while other areas appeared more vacant. I did get a nice surprise from a manta ray fly over, and a cool little nurse shark popped out on me at one point as well. #scubadiving,#scubacowboydoug,...
Diving the Erojacks for Lobsters 2024-07-14

Well, we had extremely high hopes for catching lobsters on this new 1 day mini season after the numbers we had seen yesterday. However, once we saw the number of boats that had been out there for a while, we knew it was going to be pretty picked over. I did manage to find two, but one was a short and left it go. Better luck next time. #scubadiving,#scubacowboydoug,#beachdive,#aquanaut,#saltlife...

The South Florida Beach Divers went out to do a little reef cleanup for Hollywood, and while we were out there scout the reef for tomorrow’s special mini season day. There was no shortage of lobsters in this area. Those who go here tomorrow could be in for a real treat! Sadly a friend of mine told me there was a lot of pilfering of lobsters in Dania today. She thinks there was about 40 heads on...
Diving Lauderdale By the Sea & Surrounded By Fish 2024-07-06

We got a window of nice weather so the South Florida Beach Divers took full advantage of it. Water clarity was not as good as we thought we would have, but a good dive nonetheless. The school of Lookdown fish at the end topped it off. Not to mention a little mermaid that I haven’t dived with in a while is getting her fins win again. #scubadiving,#scubacowboydoug,#beachdive,#aquanaut,#saltlife,#...
Checking on the Viz at the Erojacks After 20 Inches of Rain 2024-06-16
มุมมอง 5884 หลายเดือนก่อน
This past week we had 4 days of rain dumping about 20 inches. With all of the storm water runoff we were not expecting very good viz. Inshore was horrible. It looked like tea, but we were pleasantly surprised to have 20-25ft on the Erojacks. Another pleasant surprise was coming across 3 nurse sharks. Still struggling with what happened a couple of weeks ago, but trying to be positive. It seems ...

GoPro Failure on the Yellow Brick Rd Scuba Dive 2024-06-08

This has been one of the worst weeks of my life. I’m thankful for this group and this dive to help me through it. This truly was therapy for me. Unfortunately about 20 mins into the dive the GoPro shut off to an SD card failure. So there is only some footage following the reef south to the Yellow Brick Rd. It’s a shame as on the way back several large tarpon swam within 3ft of me. #scubadiving,...

Aquarium Diving & Braving a Strong Current at Hollywood’s Yellow Brick Rd 2024-05-11

The South Florida Beach Divers are happy to finally be able to get back in the water!! It was a difficult April for us, with easterly winds that kept the the waves churning and visibility a mess. But for Mother’s Day weekend we were treated to some westerly winds knocking down the waves and a strong southerly current which likely assisted in improving our visibility. We were also greeted by no ...

We had the pleasure of having this little remora hang around us for about a half hour on this dive. This site is great as the back (east) side of this reef drops down to 34ft creating a nice wall in spots. It’s been a weekend of good diving. Today the South Florida Beach Divers came back to a familiar spot (some didn’t have to pay the outrageous spring break parking fees). And Tom was using his black light to get some jellyfish to fluoresce. #scubadiving,#scubacowboydoug,#beachdive,#aquan...

Full Moon Night Dive in Hollywood 2024-02-24

Before the winds started shifting more from the East, the South Florida Beach Divers got into some calm, but chilly water on a Saturday night. I recently purchased a 5mm wetsuit, and I was glad to have it as water temp on my computer read 70* and was reading 68* on another’s computer. There wasn’t much to see on the Yellow Brick Rd, so most of this video has the life on the reef nearby. We came...

Great video.
Cold water
@@JuliaI.-wf3pw cold by FL standards. 75 degrees
Night dives are super fun. Awesome.
Beautiful dive and water. Content somewhat repetitive
Love the videos. I wish we had shore diving here in Myrtle Beach, SC. We are usually way offshore diving.
Super awesome.
Awesome video as usual.
It is crazy that the pier is still like that
@@andresmoves I’m fairly sure the pier is privately owned, and I don’t think they have the funds to fix it.
I haven’t seen the arrow jacks reef in 30 years It looks about the same which is good news, lots of biodiversity. It’s especially nice to see some live Florida Conch They’ve been “no take” since I was a kid, maybe they are making a comeback
I think you should go diving deeper because there’s so many lobster out there
I feel your pain. I went out at Lauderdale by the sea this morning at 6AM and only found 2. We found some shorts and eggers. I checked the webcam last night and saw multiple people in the water at midnight.
Great video. Have you noticed a decrease in sea life since last years hot temperatures or was this area left untouched?
@@lethargicken7451 I would say it’s pretty much the same as last year. Some days better than others. This day seemed to have a lot more smaller fish. Maybe due to the rain runoff and all the nasty fresh water at the surface
Nice video
Very cool video! I am definitely going there this weekend. Any tips on how I can find those reefs? I never been to this beach before, is there a sign or something that can help me find the reefs?
Awesome visibility after so much raining. I was there on the previous sunday Jun/09 and was pretty good too, we saw 1 small nursery shark, and lots of puffy fish. Nice video :) And of course we went to the whiskey bar on the end of the park 😅😊
So lucky to see several nurse sharks, I have been snorkeling there for a year and still have not seen one
These were the first sharks I’ve come across this year.
@@ScubaCowboyDougthats good to know
What beach did you dive in this video? Is this the first reef? I would love some details on the location.
I am sorry for you difficult week Doug. If you would like someone to shore dive with the week of the June 18, we will be coming to Lauderdale just for the shore dives. Best of wishes.
Video xuất sắc 👍.Full.
Also, after reading up on this, it appears Florida reefs are dying rapidly. But go ahead and keep voting for people that don't give a crap about the environment. Such a shame.
I'm pretty shocked at how cloudy the water is. It hasn't rained significantly in a month, and yet the water looks so cloudy. Does the water ever get clear there like the Caribbean or is it always this murky? It remains that the Bahamas have far better water quality than the SE coast of Florida. Florida will never clean up the pollution. In 1850 survey reports from the US army show the water in Fort L was crystal clear even in all the inland waterways. Florida is an eco disaster.
Nice video, got to get to Florida to do some driving
Perfect place to dive!

I was looking for a structure that I call the Volkswagen Coral because it's shaped like a VW Bug. It's a little north of Oakland Park Blvd out from about the 3rd building up on the Galt Ocean Mile. It's always been my destination when I go out off Oakland Park Blvd.

I thought ft.lauderdale was the fishing capital of the world? Barely any fish and lots of dead coral...😢
Thanks for the great videos. I’m visit sunny Florida often and stay nearby to Dania Beach, in Hallandale. Are there any local shops in the area that or clubs that dive there regularly?
Best to Google shops in the area you’ll be around and go to their webpage or social media for a list of their upcoming dives. Also, on Meetup app there are posted dives for South Florida Beach Divers, Nitrogen Junkies, Force-e Divers
I enjoyed your video of diving Fort Lauderdale beach. I visit this area often and dive with American Dream when I’m in town. I’ve never done any shore diving and curious if there are any groups or clubs in this area scheduled shore diving that an individual such as myself can join when I’m in the area. Thanks for the remora footage. Bill
Like your video, like the music
Nice video! Is this park in Florida?
These wonderful divers wish you all good health and hope you will come to Vietnam to dive
Short questions here from Germany, Is the permanent surface buoy mandatory for dives in the US? And how much drag does it cause? I could imagine that you could possible need significant more air?
Here in Florida it’s mandatory to have the red ‘diver down’ flag, either with the diver or displayed from a dive boat. With larger groups, it’s best to have more than one flag as the group will likely separate based on experience. The flag creates a little bit of drag, but nothing significant where you need more air. Actually it a good indicator of how strong the current is
@@ScubaCowboyDoug thank you for the quick response and good know in case we will dive in Florida. Great channel and looking forward to more with you an your guys... Happy Eastern
Nice, bruh.....
Beautiful dive as usual. Thanks for sharing.
What type of angelfish are the large ones? Beautiful and sad at same time... lots of old dead coral but also plenty of life fighting on and trying to persevere in these quickly changing times. Thanks for sharing.
The dark gray ones with splashes of yellow stripes are French Angels. The lighter gray ones with dark gray spots are Gray Angels.
That was epic. Great looking reef, lots of sea life and great viz. Awesome.
Peaceful. Beautiful dive.
Beautiful video
Wow. Great dive. And of coarse some great fellowship with other divers. Awersome video.
Night dives are so awesome!
Very nice. Beach dives are so nice and cheap
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Never heard of LBTS... Too old to beach dive anymore... prefer to put my kit together in a boat or dinghy then put on in the water... Notwithstanding very nice to watch dive vid... Fair Winds...
nice dive Doug
What pier is that in the background ?
Dania Beach Pier
I saw a big hammerhead off the right side of Dania pier one time
I grew up diving all along there! Sad to see what it looks like now! We use to park in vacant lot south of Old Jade Hotel and do beach dives after school! Those were the days man! Lauderdale by the sea was a sleepy lil beach town in those days. Many a great day spent on Anglins pier! Nice Vid,thanks for the memories. 😎🤙
amazing Video !! I just recently moved back to Ft lauderdale and I am looking for a Diving Group to participate and share diving experiences . Maybe someone can reach out with info . Appreciated, Safe Diving
Well now I know what it looks like to be under / near the pier, that pesky sign telling divers to stay away from it always stopped me!
I’d just be careful of the fishing lines down there.
