We want to go deep water fishing one day on the Gold Coast - and make a YT video about it of course! Hehe, any recommendation on best time of year to do so? I.e., if you were a first-timer, what would you recommend going for and at what time of year?
Hi Polly, winter is best as the current drops off and generally the wind is less as well. A few safety issues first .. Your boat needs to be at least 6 mtrs and you must know its potential in rough seas. You need to have a decent sized fuel allocation as the average day out is around 150-200klms travel . The wind forecast needs to be under 10 knots for the day and the current under 2 knots . You will probably need electric reel combos, unless you are jigging. Fish species to target are Flame Snapper and Bar Cod 🎣🎣 we have all of the deep dropping gear and knowledge at our tackle store if you need any of the above info 👍
