Hooray corn is planted!!! Your rows looked straighter than my soybean rows. You mentioned your markers, on my 494a they used 2 different marker arms, one for narrow rows and one for wide. Of course my planter was narrow when I bought it and I reset it for wide. Luckily I found some other markers I just need to get them put on. For really leveling you should look for a spike tooth harrow, up here they call them harrowgators. Good tool for leveling ground. Thanks for sharing, Nelson!!! I hope it comes up well and I hope you have a good one!!!

Yes that is a very good thought and I bet that's what happened here. Because there is no way these are made to be on 38" rows. I had to stop every round or so to keep the jam nuts tight, wasn't biting but about and inch of tube. The planter was set in 38" when I got it, but he must have did what I did the first time, and not marked it for the center of the tractor. I think I can extend the outside tune enough to give the extra "bracing" needed to support them. Thank you very much for that insight!! I have seen those, nothing seems plentiful around here at all Evan, I may have to venture up into Ohio for a good deal.😉 Thank you very much for always being here , I really appreciate that!! I have dragged a lot of equipment home from Ohio. My wd45, Allis plow, baler, planter, and mounted cultivators all came from there. My combines came from Kentucky. The Oliver and the Oliver plow came from Michigan. The rest I found here in Indiana. If you’re ever up this way after a good deal let me know I’ll buy your lunch 😀😀

Gotta remember to look forward more to get straighter rows I find. I've even planted without markers and it didn't turn out too bad. The more you look back and stress over it, the more you steer and swerve to correct it. Good luck!

You did a nice job, Nelson. Straight rows are nice, but not the most important thing, in my opinion. As long as you're pleased with your work, that's what matters. I hope your corn turns out well. Get that urea on it when it's time and you'll see that it makes a difference. Make sure you time the application before a rain.

way i look at it ya had a hell of a tractor to plant with love me some old allis esp that model love to hear that 6cyl work what i know about corn you could put it on the head of a pin from watching my place its good for deer and porqupines love it they climb the stalks till they break over then have at it lol personaly i stick with good hay 3 crops makes the cash and it grows every year good luck to ya bud you deserve it

Hooray corn is planted!!! Your rows looked straighter than my soybean rows. You mentioned your markers, on my 494a they used 2 different marker arms, one for narrow rows and one for wide. Of course my planter was narrow when I bought it and I reset it for wide. Luckily I found some other markers I just need to get them put on. For really leveling you should look for a spike tooth harrow, up here they call them harrowgators. Good tool for leveling ground. Thanks for sharing, Nelson!!! Yes that is a very good thought and I bet that's what happened here. Because there is no way these are made to be on 38" rows. I had to stop every round or so to keep the jam nuts tight, wasn't biting but about and inch of tube. The planter was set in 38" when I got it, but he must have did what I did the first time, and not marked it for the center of the tractor. I think I can extend the outside tune enough to give the extra "bracing" needed to support them. Thank you very much for that insight!! I have dragged a lot of equipment home from Ohio. My wd45, Allis plow, baler, planter, and mounted cultivators all came from there. My combines came from Kentucky. The Oliver and the Oliver plow came from Michigan. The rest I found here in Indiana. If you’re ever up this way after a good deal let me know I’ll buy your lunch 😀😀

Gotta remember to look forward more to get straighter rows I find. I've even planted without markers and it didn't turn out too bad. The more you look back and stress over it, the more you steer and swerve to correct it. Good luck!

You did a nice job, Nelson. Straight rows are nice, but not the most important thing, in my opinion. As long as you're pleased with your work, that's what matters. I hope your corn turns out well. Get that urea on it when it's time and you'll see that it makes a difference. Make sure you time the application before a rain.

way i look at it ya had a hell of a tractor to plant with love me some old allis esp that model love to hear that 6cyl work what i know about corn you could put it on the head of a pin from watching my place its good for deer and porqupines love it they climb the stalks till they break over then have at it lol personaly i stick with good hay 3 crops makes the cash and it grows every year good luck to ya bud you deserve it
