Would you happen to have an ebay site for your cartridge based games not the arcade machines more like nes gba etc. You have a wonderful collection in your cases and I have seen many that I'd like to collect that I am familiar with over the years. oh and Instagram id like to follow yah.

    The plywood cracking is called surface checking, its a nearly unavoidable problem because of how plywood is made , they steam or boil the tree and then use a massive lathe to "peel" the tree, in the process it causes breaks below the surface, over time the expansion and contraction of the wood from moisture causes surface checking which is the shrinkage of the grain boundaries of the plywood, another great video, its easy to binge watch this stuff lol

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mike I appreciate the explanation... I'm sure I explained it in the video but the way I see stuff like that is like you said, it's pretty much unavoidable so I don't get too bent out of shape if an older game has some issues cosmetically... it's just part of the deal and I make it look as good as I reasonably can then move on and enjoy it :)
      Thanks for binge watching, we try to make the games the star of the show :)

    man, that has to be one of the nicest, routed, high speed's ever to exist! I have seen tons of these where the playfield is down to bare wood, I looked at one a few years ago to buy and i thought at first it was white wood, it was that worn out. Id clean it gently, and clear coat it as it is to level out the playfield and keep the damage down. Its a survivor! Even the targets are all intact AND the right color!

      yeah originally the playfield for this game was not given much attention compared to the rest of the pin, that combined with High Speed machines being kept in service much longer then other pins released at the time due to its popularity led to a lot of HS pins getting their playfields worn down pretty bad. Eventually Mylar covers were given out to operators and better paint was used in later production runs.

    Great video, I love to see these machines get some love instead of being parted out. It looked like your machine during the time lapse was in High Speed, or had a little to much caffeine that morning. I have owned my High Speed machine for 30 years now. I bought it when I was 13 years old. I have never thought about selling it. It is a member of the family. Hello from Phoenix Arizona.

    Wow high speed my buddies and I would play this at a Circle K store until the sun would come up. We got so good at it we could play all night for a dollar. We made it pop all night. The store manager finally called the owner of the machine who sent a tech out because they thought it was broke and letting us play for free.
    We were actually playing when the tech arrived. He set the pop to a higher score to a million if memory serves me right. Ha we still could play it all night for a dollar. Flipped it so many times. Stroked it. Lol

I find the car and the couple in it looking strange. How they are positioned in the car and just outlined figures, and the car looks like the front could be the back and vice versa, sort of. High Speed was a great pinball.. (but Pat Lawlor had more hits than Ritchie) and the last WMS pin not to have Yamaha music. My only question is, since High Speed was WMS game #541 and the next pinball was Pinbot, #549, what happened to #542 - #548?
    Fun fact: did you know that WMS had a patent on the parallel winding flipper coil? That’s why Data East never used one. Data East may have literally copied the WMS board system, but I guess they were afraid of infringing on the WMS patent.

    Man, my Playfield is so much worse than yours! Mine is so bad I'm scared to do a deep clean and polish. Check my channel to see my lighting mods. IMO my HS is a dog but I love playing it.

      I agree 100%, I don't see how people afford them, and I never really admired something you could just go buy, i'd much rather have something older that nobody wants as much, or that you have to find somewhere or fix up. To each their own though, some people really enjoy the new ones and can't wait till one comes out, that's cool too but not really for me.
