MHP 15 Overview -Mag in handle flywheel blaster-

  • I know a lot of people have seen this thing around, but I finally got around to making the video. Life has been crazy with a new baby and all that.
    ---------
    So this is a completely custom designed and built blaster, for the express purpose of using Jet's Katana magazines in the handle. It's flywheel powered, full auto, and fits well for the goal of an smg. There's been a lot of work put into this, it's far from perfect, but it's something I'm very proud of.
    This is totally free to download and print yourself, and I will be making an assembly guide once I get my hands on another copy.
    The firing demo leaves something to be desired, but I don't have great conditions where I live to do a really great range test. There is a better demo here: • Mhp 15 firing

    Is there any possibility of shortening the length of the barrel? I am a little concerned about barrel drag, but also since the battery goes in the front I'm not sure how much I could "chop off", as it were.
    Edit- Also I love stupidly compact blasters so it wouldn't bother me if I didn't have a place to put my off hand.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If the battery were moved you could, but because this uses 1" pipe, which is much wider than normal faux barrels, it has minimal drag for the barrel length, if any.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are files for it lol
      I just liked how it felt without anything there, but the next one I make for myself will have the folding grip

  • @xandercage2107
    @xandercage2107 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Heath, maybe if you create a version 2.0, I would suggest expanding on the actual size of the blaster so that you can add on more rails and give you a better battery space to utilize.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could make modified files for a larger battery, and I have files for a bottom rail. Side rails could be added as well.
      Mk2 would more likely be designed to be printed vertically with fewer supports, than to change any fo the basic features or functions... And this is really like v3 or 4, really

    Does using stefan darts instead of full lengths in any flywheel setup make a noticeable difference in fps? If so, how much?

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We chronoed these at 120-140s, so there was a drop of 20-30 fps... But the accuracy is way better and the range seems to be better too, by a substantial margin, actually. I see no reason to use full length darts in ANYTHING anymore, to be honest

    • @justnerfin5989

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We tested a riot setup, which got in the 120s-30s, as well as a 41.5 with black wheels and neorhinos, and that hit a high of 149 and an average in the 130s, I'd say

    How come I don't hear any flywheels reving up?

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have motor braking on them, so they don't coast when I stop revving, they just stop. Since the pusher is going at the same time, there's a lot of noise all at once that's just gone right when I let go of the switch. It takes very little time for the wheels to spin up to let off a shot at full range, and this is really putting it to the test

    Question - If I were to build this myself, how much would it cost me? Around $100? $200? Additionally, how much would you sell model 002? While you may not enjoy that front stock, that looks right up my alley.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, the cost for building yourself should be around 100, although that would be if you had a battery and mags. I can do a commission for $250 painted plus shipping, or $200 unpainted plus shipping

      I see you're a salesman by day lol. Okay, i'll entertain the thought...so hypothetically if I were to go for the $250 option for painted, I have a vision an "ideal" paint job for the blaster and was wondering if you could pull it off - getting a gold case hardened look with wood furniture . Given the real steel profile, I think a crazy bright gold style/pattern would be ideal. An example would be the case hardened ak-47 from counterstrike. Think you would be able to pull something like that off? Why putting motor braking in the flywheel ?
    Also making the magwell flared could be easier to reload (you seemed to have difficulty reloading it in the video)

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Braking is necessary because of the way the circuit works. I'm planning to attemp to fit a second switch in, which would take that away. As for reloading, I was actually making sure everything was in the shot, and not actually watching the reloads. When it's held like I would normally use it, I find I reload better than on camera

    • @wapiti3895
      @wapiti3895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the motor braking problem could be corrected if the pusher would work like the one in the rapidstrike (with a switch inside that let the pusher reset itself before starting to motor break)
      but after checking the 3d model of the pusher... It could still work !
      by putting on the base a switch placed so when the pusher is retracted the switch is closed and following this diagram
      so the negative from the batteries goes like this :
      pusher's M1 < -- > flywheel M1 > pusher's Sw NC >[comm] pusher's M2
      and positive goes like that:
      Pusher Sw NO trigger's switch NC > [comm] flywheel M 2
      M =motor (number mean the motor's pole)Sw =switch(NC =normally closed -NO=normally open)

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I am lost as to what is going on in your verbal description, I did think about having a second switch for cycle control... It didn't fit well enough to work without remodeling parts... But I might be able to fit two, one for firing one for revving, which would eliminate the braking

    • @wapiti3895
      @wapiti3895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      well if you can fit a rev switch (even with the magazine in the grip) it is a good solution, but if you can't or just want one trigger you can do it and if it is not clear I will write it with no diminutive :
      the negative is connected to :
      (the pusher's motor pole 1
      (the flywheels motors pole 1
      [the pusher's switch Normally closed
      ------
      the positive is connected to:
      [the pusher's switch Normally open
      [the trigger's switch Normally open
      ----
      the trigger's switch's comm is connected to the flywheels motor pole 2
      the pusher's switch's comm is connected to the pusher's motor pole 2
      Hope you will understand it this time :)

    • @wapiti3895
      @wapiti3895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or you could just add a diode (if you find one that can support the draw) in your current circuit to block the negative to go in your flywheel (it is simpler though take the time to test it before plugging a lipo as usual ;)

  • @notforsaletoday1895
    @notforsaletoday1895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I doubt it would really be possible... But I'm just imagining this concept in some hand gun designs... Though i doubt they could fit all the internals needed.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not in a terribly easy way. I based this off stryfe size internals, and knew it would be very large. If you could develop smaller wheels, cage, and pusher, then it could be a lot smaller depending on fps requirement and battery size

  • @liangweihao7932
    @liangweihao7932 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is the front end so long? Kinda defeats the purpose of having a sidearm, and the barrel drag only makes a stefan flywheel system drop even further in fps.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I said in the video it was never intended to be a sidearm. On that note the front is where the battery goes, and it's a small one at that. And finally, as for barrel drag, the barrel itself is a fair bit wider diameter than what you normally have so the velocity is not affected at all as far I can tell. What I've found here is that half darts have virtually no loss in velocity, and what there might be is more than made up for with the accuracy and consistency

    • @liangweihao7932
      @liangweihao7932 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't catch you saying that of course. But a stefan flywheel system, with a clever mag-through-handle design like an Uzi, just screams sidearm to me. Would be a great secondary to say a Longshot, with the huge bonus of using the same mag and ammo. If only I had the necessary know-how to modify the files to shorten it, shift the battery compartment elsewhere, and it would really be the perfect secondary.

    • @HeathHeil
      @HeathHeil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's around the size of a stryfe, so if you had the right way of carrying it, it could still be a secondary. Frankly, you could just not print the front and tape the battery on the back or something if t has to be that short. Some barrel was intended in case it was every to be holstered, but the slip guard on the front gets in the way, and it's still too back heavy
