Feel like Virginie is regressing ( ._.) her debut show on the train station was amazing- then with the spring summer haute couture at coco chanel's convent. this show's pieces were amazing dont get me wrong but i kinda do miss lagerfeld's campy fantasy and extravagance, i think it'll make the pieces even more magical. This show's set was the definition of unseasoned boiled chicken
Virginie brings such a fluid, relaxed essence to her designs. Where other designers seem to be trying so hard, she encompasses an ease of femininity that I really love. The models seem to embody this feeling as well. So enjoyable.
Starts at 3:12 if you want to skip the non fashion part ( man doing something with a drum set ). Whatever. Now to the clothes - a very safe conservative collection, maybe the coming recession in the West and spreading to the rest of the world like China is making Chanel play it safe. I liked the above the ankle circular skirts, the long tweed coats, the evening dresses were boring AF, simple long shapes with only the fabric to recommend them, couture must be fabulous fabrics and unusual shapes too for evening wear, if not, what's the point ? Daywear can be more conservative. And it was. Did not understand the set, the geometric shapes and stripes and what connection it had to the theme of the clothes. But then, I did not get the theme of the clothes either. Maybe the theme was safe, classic coats and skirts, because the economy is bad, so no experimentation.
Wow factor no but as Chanel said beauty doesn’t have to be shocking . The clothes are pieces that a woman can wear of any age and interpret it as one style. Pieces that will be passed down for generations. Yes for alot of viewers it may seem like a staid show BUT what one cannot see is how it’s cut , the small details of stitching , of fabric of cut. A lot is missed via video these are the details one cannot see. If one zooms in on the looks via photographs one can see such things. Even Lagerfeld had his shoes that were not so exciting BUT the clothes sell not just because it’s CHANEL but because of the tools of t he trade of all the atelier’s that work their magic to make the sketch come alive.
La Collection et la Décoration sont parfaites. Mais la music est inappropriée. Ce n'est pas à l'hauteur du pouvoir et de l'eclat de La Maison. Ralentit le relâchement de la collection.
Pharrell Williams on drums to open the show made no sense. Just because he wears Chanel he got the gig. The collection was boring, some of the colors awful, and several of the designs oldish. If Virginie is trying to attract a younger Chanel buyer better she studies Kaiser Karl's sketches. He made Chanel young and hip back in his time.
A very beautiful and simple collection. However, Virginie mademoiselle Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld are turning in their graves. This is not Haute Couture. You know that. Have you forgotten what you learned in school when you were a very young girl with aspiring dreams to be famous for making girly, classy, feminine clothes that is elegant, embellished, shimmering. If so, then go back to retrain. I do not get the reason why Pharrell William is doing the music at the beginning. Is it that he wears Chanel tweeds so he got the gig? the dogs running around and the cheap looking theatrical set from a cheap version of kaleidoscopes gone wrong is just beyond words. Get with the program. Your Spring/Summer 2022 collection was shimmering, embellished, stylish, the girls all pretty and the backdrop well the Principality of Monaco and the beach with it's grand hotel and the gardens.
