While I do agree that there have been very good races, there have also been some not so great ones to go along. Golden Isles comes to mind in the not so great column as far as actual racing BUT I think there is a difference between “great racing” and a “great race ” and that gets convoluted a little. The Knoxville Nationals are typically a “great race” and this year’s A had excitement but the racing overall was somewhat sub-par across the week. You can find examples of bangers and stinkers pretty easily without looking. Overall across the board, the best racing has been at the shorter, lower wing speed tracks… Jacksonville’s WoO show, Pevely, Attica, Fremont, West Memphis… all of the Maverick shows in July (Terre Haute not being included in the short track discussion but still had a great pass) and while “dirty air” is still present in those instances, it’s not as prevalent as say Eldora or Texas. It becomes more of a “clean track” than “clean air” situation. The top 1% will almost always figure out how to win from 8th or wherever because there’s a reason they are at that level.
The racing is great especially at tracks that are conducive to passing and great track prep. Premier tracks like Port, WG and K-ville all offer dynamic speeds and great racing, but not the passing we see at shorter tracks. The racing this past weekend was awesome Thurs & Fri. What happened on Saturday? Say what you will, the track prep was favorable to the Posse and it showed in qualifying, the heats, the pole dash and the feature. It happens and on a track that fast and big - the slick and the rubber killed that event, but I still enjoyed the show and have come to understand why races like that happen. I personally feel Brent's issues are reflective of a frustrating season and not so much at the state of racing. Add in the penalty for a non-marked RR and that would send anyone over the top following that type of penalty. I am not sure anyone is surprised as to why he lashed out. In closing, had Corey Day not crashed out, it would have been fun watching him blast the wall out of that place on his way to the front while everyone else ran the bottom.
as for the Port show it sounds like the track crew wanted to keep it as dry and slick as possible for their local drivers that bitched about how fast the track was thursday and friday and it backfired on them for the A.....
I don't see the need for a 410 engine on a shorter track.

The 19 has been struggling a bit. My preference is a track with a bit more moisture. The cars at the Tusky were tipping toeing around the bottom. We saw some good racing on the West coast. It seemed like the tracks were using more water. Anyways I prefer a bit more moisture. My 2 cents
Cisney has known about this for awhile, this was public in the pa racing community early in the season. Cowman has had his rig posted for sale on Facebook for about 3 weeks now
I don't care what rules Brent Marks changes or anyone else changes in sprint car racing, When the track prep is that horrible no set of rules or rule changes will ever fix it. Racing here in Posse Land is a complete joke when it comes to track prep. Every single track around here runs the track in way to damn hard at the start of the night. I get it they are trying to make a slick track so you have passing. Juice the track up some, so it slicks off for the AMain. I remember 1 time at Williams Grove Speedway during a drivers meeting. GM Justin Loh had a drivers meeting after like 4 straight weeks of rubber after hot laps telling the drivers sorry and that they needed to do better. As I was standing there listening to this all Dayn Pittman who was driving in Central Pa at the time said "The problem is everyone runs the track in too damn much, We never scrap any mud off the cars" And he was right then and he's right now. Look at Knoxville, Husets.. Eldora and even Chico where y'all was at.. Mud flying then it slicked off.. then before the mains little track rework and had some great racing. That shit doesn't happen in Pa, We have LAZY LAZY track crews with track owners that don't wanna spend the money to get the proper stuff. And to this day they 100% run the damn track in to much! Race teams are working harder and harder on the cars and track prep crews work less and less, It's not fair to the teams nor is it fair to the fans. My family spent $220 to watch that shit show Saturday Night at Port Royal and that was to get into the gate with food and shirts we was almost at $350 for the night. That is alot of money to spend on 1 night for a family to spend to watch a complete shit show. I expect better from Port Royal Speedway and I expect even more from High Limit holding tracks accountable for that type of track. If High Limit lets this happen again then the shame is on them.
I agreed with everything you said until the end. High Limit asked the track crew several times if they wanted to add water before the feature but the answer was no. HL cannot force a track to make changes if they don’t want too.
I believe Sprint car racing has improved. But I also believe that the tires are still throwing some guys a cover ball. The new style of Sprint car racing is smooth tracks side or die . Myself I prefer hooked up tracks races seem better for fans more passing . But I know it's hard on equipment hooked up tracks. I worked on a Late Model in the 80s and 90s then helped on Sprint car as a tire guy for an Australian back then it was always a hooked up tracks. I've seen Chico with a108 cars on it and after the race your shoe would still stick to the track. Those were great races and great times at Chico. Was glad to see what SLC was been able to do at Chico was almost like the old days
I believe it all started back when Hoosier tires took over and made it there deal , that’s not only for sprint cars also small block , big block Modifieds , I loved it when we had Good year McCreary and Hoosier to choose from , I loved the McCreary tires myself , those were the days when racing was great and competitive
When a series makes a commitment to one tire manufacturer, that manufacturer doesn't have to make a good product. The track/series rules state you can only run one brand of tire. There is no incentive for the manufacturer to make a quality product.
The racing has been…definitely different. It doesn’t feel we’ve nearly as many close races and hard battles. It feels more single file, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, as a fan and racer, the racing has significantly changed in the past seasons
Marks' complained with no reasons or solutions. Having raced sprints for decades, here's some thoughts on the state of racing: 1. More race events on a nite = more opportunity and money for more racers. When central Pa had three tracks racing on saturday nite, 72 teams ran a feature and received purse money. Top 10 teams were scattered. Area had lots of cars. 2. Starting fastest up front reduces passing and is not fun to watch. No drama, no suspense. 3. Time trials if used, need to be grouped by heat like All Stars. Track changes too much. Never use timed hot laps. Time trials are on the fastest track of the nite and favor the expense of horsepower. 4. There should be a seeding algorithm invert instead of a draw, redraw or spin. Invert by season average finish. Racing excitement and entertainment is about driving and passing. 5. Random draw is not even distribution. Some will season average bad draws and some will average good draws. 6. The 40th place guy doesn't have the same. His are the older used motors from the well funded or just budget motors but he is hard to pass when the track is not about horsepower. 7. Tires must be spec. An open rule leads to a tire war where mfgrs want to win and build better tires that lead to more lock down and special tires for favored teams. Teams will need many, many tires on hand. They will use up a qualifying tire and then need enough tires to have the mfgr, compound, sidewall, tread, belt and stagger needed for a given track condition. This only serves the wealthy. 8. Wings at 27 degrees are shovels making drag and turbulence ("dirty air"), overcome by more horsepower. Wings fly up to 18 degrees with a little turbulence. Less wing force needs less HP and more on driving and mechanical setup . 9. Walls are a major expense to racing. Concrete and steel should be replaced with wide, smooth runoff and escape, inside and outside. If tracks had to pay for car repairs if a track structure was hit, track designs would change quickly!! Hard walls are not a safety feature and should not be an entertainment feature. 10. Most entertainment meets a two hour attention span (concerts, movies, stick and ball...) Races need less downtime, entertaining announcers, quick crash cleanup. Everyone talks about how early they got home.
Bummed for PPM that he can't seem to find a reliable crew and a crew chief that can get that car to the front. I think he has the talent and speed but needs some consistency in his program. Happy to hear he has a car to finish out the year in tho. Will be pulling for him like we always do.
Marks was +12 on Saturday. There have been some phenomenal races this year, yes some bad ones too. Dirt track prep isnt perfect. I'd go with no tire rules, run what you bring, let them soak tires, whatever. Best scientist wins
You mean go back to the 1980s and 1990s of sprint car racing. Those were to best of racing here in central PA. But after that more and more rules changes with these so called rule changes to even out the competition? We got more boring races with less passing as a result. I guess some people didn't like Hamilton and Weikert teams being smarter then their own teams.
Racing has been good. I don’t know if the tire or wicker bill would change a lot. But saying that we did see Kyle go from 21st to the win in 30 laps that is a lot of cars passed. Yes ok it’s Kyle I get that but he had the same or used tires lol for that matter and same wicker bill. Also I think 3/8-1/4 have more passing and more exciting than 1/2 miles.
I can definitely understand why Marks is frustrated. In his best seasons , he was always coming through from deep in the field. He hasn’t been able to do that this season and it was an important season for him to be able to do that. I think he bet on himself being able to navigate traffic with High Limit and it hasn’t paid off. Also, during the West Coast swing, his wife was due to have the baby and I think he was wanting to be closer to home and he’s discouraged by that.
Why is it ,that drivers who aren't winning, have to blame it on something other than themselves or team? I like Brent Marks, but seriously. Rules will always change, just as track surfaces do,you have to adjust. If I want good honest comments from a driver, I'll read The Realist Sprint Car Driver's comments from DD!

I personally watch USAC the main reason I got Flo. Go to Port only to see USAC. So I really don't see what is going on in Central Pa. Only go to the Grove opening day,Outlaws and USAC. I trust Marks see way more than me and I trusted his post is right on. Time will tell where the direction will go.
Big money ruined the racing. Look who is up front most of the time. Invert the field 8 to 10 positions. At the old Reading Fair Grounds I love watching the great drivers come up through the field. Go back to 10 laps heats. 30 lap features.
Some tracks have ruts or bumps come feature time where you have to avoid them or hit them just right not to ruin your night, Pa drivers don’t have the right track configuration they compete on to hone their skills as equal as the cars are, California drivers have a leg up, the right crew chief is Gold
@@TooKlingy dirty air affects cars a lot more on half miles, just that much more air moving around. That’s why you see so many weird wrecks at places like Eldora and Port
- The Hoosier monopoly needs to end…let them run whatever brand/compound tire they want. - There obviously needs to be a huge meeting at the end of the year with all the National series drivers and the top locals from every region about wicker bills. Find out what the drivers think is needed for better racing and go with that ‘inch’ wicker.
@@BadGoat92 money talks and bullshit walks I hate to even think this but but is money exchange hands to make sure Hoosier is the only tire they can use

I love Sprint Car racing and have been very happy with the product most of the season but changing the wicker bill did nothing. Why not eliminate it altogether and use a dished wing.
The racing has been good. Trackers not going to be perfect every night. Hate when track caters to big teams like Chili Bowl does. Does not give small teams any shot of out driving those big engines.
Everybody that helps at Port Royal now is volunteer nobody is getting paid nothing that is including the track crew all the money is going to the fairgrounds and back in to the track
I have not noticed the racing product being any worse than past years, I have seen plenty of really good racing, Port Saturday was awful, so glad I stayed home and was bored watching on Flo instead of in person. I think we need ONE season where they open up the rules and let teams use whatever tires, wings, and wickers they choose and let the teams figure out what works best and let that will determine the rules going forward
@@nonyobiz7741 I think by racing product Brent is referring to not as many guys being able to come from dirty air in 20th up into the top 5 like we were able to see in past years. I agree with you though as a fan and not a racer that racing hasn’t been any worse this year than it has in previous years. If anything I think racing’s improved over the past couple years.
@@Riley-bm8zxThe best racing in PA for regular shows was much better in the 1980s and 1990s probably because of less restrictions in package set ups. I miss those days when passing was very common and you had Lance Dewease and Todd Shaffer passing each other back and forth without waiting to get to lap traffic to do so at Port Royal Speedway.
Never Hurd of problems of passing when the tires were open and I’m not the only one that complained about Hoosier taken over a lot of drivers complained about side bite but believe you open tire again the passing will happen again
What's good for the sport is what makes the racing bad. First, a ton of money. I doubt Brad Sweet was trying to kill James McFadden earlier in the season, but if I was a juror I would convict. Next speed and technology. Dirt racing has a limit, and we have exceeded it. Until someone creates a new dirt surface, tracks will continue to lose the battle.
I have watched every HL race this year. The race Saturday night wasn’t good. Thats the first race this year that I have thought after the race that the race I just watched sucked.
Damn Brent. You got caught cheating and still started the feature at the 50. I think the problem is that some of these tracks are just too damn big. I would rather watch USAC midgets than HL or WoO at Williams grove Knoxville or port royal. I grew up in California kings speedway is perfect size. Attica is perfect size.
Brent was not referring to just last night when it came to quality of races just so you know. A week or 2 ago he said on X that the cars aren’t performing how they should in dirty air.
@@TheRaudmanRundownI think it’s because Port Royal is held in such high regard that some people shut down any bit of criticism. invert all races and quit playing favorites. the high limit and the outlaws both run a program that favors their drivers trying to ensure they make the big show. you want better racing then quit letting the big series play with their own set of rules. if they are the greatest drivers and teams out there then they should not need a program that favors them over the local drivers. key is do not let teams and drivers know what the invert will be until heat race line ups are posted. the way it is now is run away wins by the first guy to hit clean air. and most of the passing is a bigger named guy coming from the back because they wrecked or had parts failure in a hit race. right now it is like that is ok if you did not win we will still give you a trophy to even though you did not really earn it by being the best car and driver on track.
Brent marks is such a cry baby, he’s just mad cause he’s only had one good season with one good pay day he thought he was the next dale Earnhardt after winning the kings royal
I think the racing has been good this year. If I was able to make any changes, I would change the pill draw from when they would qualify to which heat race they will race in, and then break up the qualifying groups into the heat races and then do the invert for each heat race. Seems as though even when the qualifying groups are divided up into 2 different groups, the track continues to change where drivers at the end of their qualifying group are put at a higher disadvantage. Like you mentioned, most everyone is running the same stuff, so the luck of a pill draw shouldn’t set you back as much as it does some nights. If you have more qualifying groups I feel that would help eliminate some of that disadvantage. Make the pill draw number be for what heat race a driver will compete in or do more qualifying groups.
Ive been saying what marks said for years. They need to go to 360 engines, wing sizes from the 70's and let the teams run any tire they want. I stoped going because very few wins come farther back then 6th starting spot. Yes larson did it but in the 60's and 70's and early 80's that was done most of the time. Do this it will cost less money and maybe more teams will form to race. The fans pay 20 to 40 bucks per person to watch follow the leader good luck getting big crowds.

Interesting report. BTW, you are doing a great job calling the races.
My 2 cents
We like smaller tracks on this channel!
Cisney has known about this for awhile, this was public in the pa racing community early in the season. Cowman has had his rig posted for sale on Facebook for about 3 weeks now
There is nothing i want more than PPM staying on HL tour and get a charter.
He’s not good period
@@DirtTrackRacing410 hes definitely a very good driver and is in position to get a charter next season

Which high limit team is first to announce a move to WOO?
Firestone tires were big in pa in the 60's and 70's with McCreary tires on the front
Yes Rembrandt the days also when Firestone had the drag tires they’d work great when track was tacky but when it dried out they’d slow down
Tires are an issue. There are too many flats.
When a series makes a commitment to one tire manufacturer, that manufacturer doesn't have to make a good product. The track/series rules state you can only run one brand of tire. There is no incentive for the manufacturer to make a quality product.
Still a lot more compelling racing than anything nascar has to offer 🤷♂️
Is nascar still a thing?
DIRTRACKR Justin would disagree! He loves the NASCAR!
The racing has been…definitely different. It doesn’t feel we’ve nearly as many close races and hard battles. It feels more single file, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, as a fan and racer, the racing has significantly changed in the past seasons
Marks' complained with no reasons or solutions.
Having raced sprints for decades, here's some thoughts on the state of racing:
An open rule leads to a tire war where mfgrs want to win and build better tires that lead to more
lock down and special tires for favored teams.
Not a bad weekend for him considering what is going on. Was 7th twice and 16th the other night at Port Royal
@midnight-2021 I'm talking sprint car racing in general. To me, PA tracks have always sucked, they're to big, no close racing
I stand with Brent Marks and his opinion of sprint car racing.
You mean his FLAWED opinion? 😂
@@mojodoug3 how dare you - he is the King of Amish Pennsylvania Dutch sprint car racing.
Can’t wait to hear about this on dirt trakker tomorrow

Brent should step up his game. Everyone competes on the same track
Marci ca n win anywhere. Pretty much all the time . He can pass you real quick !!!!
Im bad at math too, i didnt know 2+4=7 until Tony told me at chico.
I think the half mile product has been lack luster. I think on the shorter stuff it’s been great. But Knoxville wasn’t great either.
@@Jerry-xi3zq oh yea I know and that’s the only reason, money. It needs to end
Please for a aussie explain the dice roll
They pick a fan, he rolls the dice 🎲 whatever the number is the driver in that position is the guy, if it’s 8, it’s 8000$, it’s 3 it’s 3000$, if that driver wins he splits with that fan. It’s a cool 😎 deal imo
@@pauljstod8804 Thankyou sir do u you follow the Americans down under in USA of aeason
I love Sprint Car racing and have been very happy with the product most of the season but changing the wicker bill did nothing. Why not eliminate it altogether and use a dished wing.
interesting news outta the PPM camp
The racing has been good.
Trackers not going to be perfect every night. Hate when track caters to big teams like Chili Bowl does. Does not give small teams any shot of out driving those big engines.
I like when you do money earnings videos. Can you make one again sometime when you can?
Everybody that helps at Port Royal now is volunteer nobody is getting paid nothing that is including the track crew all the money is going to the fairgrounds and back in to the track
I’ve been on this channel for 6 months at least now and it took my last high limit race to notice that was your voice I’ve been hearing 🤯😂🥴
This is Chase , not dirtracker.
The hoosiers suck and the aero tight in dirty air.....i dont have the answer but the cars aint the way they used to be
It’s the wings. Downforce makes crap racing.
Dished wing is the ticket
@@Brycem-nz9sf why? What's the technical reason? Not trying to argue, just want to know why this 1 thing is the answer?
im in. lots of drivers talk about dirty air being so much less of a thing with dished wing. problem is getting the douchey WOO to go along.
@@hawkifish guy below got it, I think because of dirty air.
To big indeed and that's not what she says
Brent was not referring to just last night when it came to quality of races just so you know. A week or 2 ago he said on X that the cars aren’t performing how they should in dirty air.
Oh I’m aware. It was just interesting timing after the Tusky race
@@TheRaudmanRundownI think it’s because Port Royal is held in such high regard that some people shut down any bit of criticism. Easily the best track in the PA, but when’s the last time somebody came from 10th back for the win in a big show. Now apply that to any track nationwide- how often does it even happen these days? Can’t speak for him, but I feel like that’s one of his points.
I like that you brought this dialogue to attention though, I think it’s important for people with voices in the sport to be vocal about constantly improving. The only way we can keep growing. Good stuff this year, Chase 🫡

Umm Kyle Larson went from 21st to 1st… so idk what you call that must not be good racing.
sprint car racing has sucked ever since the new tire
invert all races and quit playing favorites. the high limit and the outlaws both run a program that favors their drivers trying to ensure they make the big show. you want better racing then quit letting the big series play with their own set of rules. if they are the greatest drivers and teams out there then they should not need a program that favors them over the local drivers. key is do not let teams and drivers know what the invert will be until heat race line ups are posted. the way it is now is run away wins by the first guy to hit clean air. and most of the passing is a bigger named guy coming from the back because they wrecked or had parts failure in a hit race. right now it is like that is ok if you did not win we will still give you a trophy to even though you did not really earn it by being the best car and driver on track.
Brent marks is such a cry baby, he’s just mad cause he’s only had one good season with one good pay day he thought he was the next dale Earnhardt after winning the kings royal
We see great races, I would just prefer the Best drivers at the track, together. Jmo
Williams Grove has had the worst racing 3 yrs straight horrible
The racing has been fine. The author of the post has been having a down year by his standards.
ok
Marks is just having a bad year so he has to blame it on someone besides himself. Sprint Car racing is BOOMING right now.
360 engines😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this might be the funniest comment in the history of the channel
They have 360 races… they could only dream of the crowd and money 410’s get
Is it that sprint car racing is bad right now Marks or is it that you suck.
