But even then, I felt like a lot of that was unwarranted. Like if I were to play it for the first time again I feel like I'd probably do the same thing.
Then again, I doubt Carson meant for us to take this as seriously as I currently am lol
that part made watching the vods so much harder to enjoy. I know that its just a bit, but it gets annoying hearing loki constantly get ragged on for a completely intentional & expected moment in the game.
In my first playthrough, I killed more story characters than he has because its intentionally not obvious how to spare every character, or that you should. Thats a huge part of the game, the death and sparing of characters are both important parts of getting the message of the game across. But im sure carson knows that, and im sure it didn't have a big impact on loki's experience with the game, I just find that bit more annoying than funny when they start acting like he intended for toriel to die.

my favourite part was the part when he killed toriel and really thought he could get away with it
no for real to be fair, I'm with Loki on killing Toriel on accident. I played UT blind and did that too. I didn't understand you had to spam Spare, because that was NOT a mechanic introduced... so she told me to prove myself, I did, not realizing it would kill her. Then Flowey talked shit about me killing her instead of sparing, and I realized "Oh shit, I could've saved her?" and then looked up a non-spoiler pacifist guide and restarted. Honestly was pretty fun and I'm glad I did that so I could have a unique experience in my blind playthrough, instead of just following a standard pacifist guide from the start that literally everyone does.
an NPC tells you that sometimes you might have to spare even when they wont let you but its not exactly obvious for most people
@@Crossfade1625 literally don't remember which NPC says this, but get off your high horse, because there are lots of NPCs throwing dialogue at you as a new player, most of which just are funny one-liners. I remember I did try Sparing her anyways, but she just goes "..." for her first line, which I took as a sign that it was not progressing the fight. I actually attempted to spam "Talk" in ACT, since ACTing was the only thing that got me anywhere in any fight up till then, not Sparing.
Again I'm happy with how my playthrough turned out, Flowey remembering that I had killed Toriel even tho I spared her in my current run was some of the coolest fourth wall breaking I had seen at the time and gave me chills, while also introducing me to aspects of Flowey's character early on (like that he will remember past saves, something I would have not learned until much later otherwise).
