    Hoffman you are one of the best down to earth, no bullshit blacksmiths that i have come across on youtube, which is what I assume you're trying to portray. You're work is down to earth and your films are so calming it honestly helps me in so many ways. Sorry for being a soppy commenter but keep doing what you're doing it is great, well done you great craftsman

    Hi! Do you often get "well, these are not strictly *hand forged* because you use a press" type of feedback from customers? How do you usually respond? I'm asking this because I think people are too hasty to dismiss handcraft as soon as they see any type of aid.

    • @broadusthompson1666
      @broadusthompson1666 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you wish to make a living off of it, you have to make it into an awful lot of work, and treat it as a business. But ANYONE who does that much work for as little money as a smith makes, must have a passion for it. Otherwise there are much more lucrative things we could be doing for much less work.
      Not everyone is overflowing with enthusiasm like Alec Steele. I've met tired and weary smiths who absolutely still love what they do. I can't speak for Liam, but I don't think he's tired of it yet.

    • @he-mansuncle7661
      @he-mansuncle7661 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      StealHrtVideo if you think that Liam has lost the passion for blacksmithing, you are delusional. The man is nothing but the art of creation from raw steel into perfect axes, amazing knives, and hammers that would stand up to any other hammer. The amount of knowledge and time researching the perfect edge geometry of an axe or what grind on a knife is better for an EDC is incredible. Put that together with with his abilities and knowledge of wood and you have Liam. Does he need to look at things differently now, sure he has a business to run. If he's not producing his products then he's not making a living.
      But you're looking for a comment back from him because you are a troll.

    • @he-mansuncle7661
      @he-mansuncle7661 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Broadus Thompson just watching his hollow vs flat grind knife video test and you'll see his passion. You are correct, he's not like Alec whose making TH-cam videos for a living now. Just because someone isn't smiling every five seconds doesn't make them less passionate about their craft. In the knife test video, you can hear it in his voice when something surprises him. A person can be stoic and still be passionate about their job. I remember watching wranglerstars video when Liam sent him an axe. Besides the obvious care that he packaged his axe to send, I remember the little "pamphlet/booklet" that has his mission statement and it's clear that being able to be a blacksmith full time is not just a job, it's a lifestyle
