  • Today I'm building a canopy for my 90 gallon reef tank in Alaska.
In this two-part video series, I'm excited to share my DIY journey of building a custom Reef Tank Stand and Canopy for my Alaskan reef tank that perfectly matches my kitchen aesthetic. Join me as I combine my love for reefing with a touch of creativity and craftsmanship.
Now, let me be clear - I'm not a professional woodworker. However, armed with some fancy tools, I'm able to bring my vision to life and create a stand and canopy that will elevate the beauty of my mixed reef tank. This video focuses on the canopy build, showcasing the process from start to finish.
While this video is not a step-by-step DIY tutorial or a guide, it offers a behind-the-scenes look at my personal journey. It also shows that literally anyone can build a nice looking canopy for their aquarium if they take the time, have a few tools, and watch a whole lot of TH-cam for guidance.
In the upcoming second part, I'll be sharing the construction process of the Reef Tank Stand, so stay tuned for that. Together, the stand and canopy will create a visually stunning centerpiece in my Alaskan home, perfectly complementing my reef tank setup.
If you're passionate about reefing, appreciate unique DIY projects, and are interested in reef tank builds, this video series will keep you pretty entertained. Subscribe now and hit the notification bell to join me on this creative adventure.

Trying not to offend true woodworkers with my utter lack of skill

Wow, this is an awesome build. As someone who also loves reefs and also may be moving to Alaska in a year or so, I find this very inspiring. I'm subscribed and following!

The woodworking community is appreciative of my acknowledgement of my lack of skills 🤷‍♂️

Will you have enough space to stick your hand to the bottom of the tank and to the back of the tank? Is the canopy not too low?

Good point. There is enough room for me to reach my hand all the way to the back and to the bottom of the tank. I also have really short arms, so if I absolutely have to, I can just lift the canopy off the tank really easily.

      Thank you 😍
I have done a lot of home renovations before but really haven't don't much with woodworking since I was a kid. I can't say that I do woodworking though, the woodworking community would be upset.... they would probably chase me with chisels and cordless tracksaws.
