I have a doll thats similar in height and stature to myself, having been through a series of relationships good and bad, as I got older my chances of a good partnership dwindled haunted by a family mental illness and the sibling of a schizophrenic made it even more difficult. It's not a replacement, but more of a novelty as this juncture.

You mentioned anthropomorphism and studying it from that angle. Ok but here is where this whole discussion and research has a fatal flaw, the flaw is in the fact that we know anthropomorphism is an innate thing in human functioning. That means there is no control group when it comes to that, you cannot really separate the experiment from the experimenter.
Further let's consider that because of this that both a researcher researching dolls, a critic who is critical of dolls and a doll owner who uses dolls all share something vital in common: they all hold dolls up on a pedestal of significance.
And they do so from the anthropomorphic view that a doll is not just a lump of plastic.
A true critic of dolls would sound like this: 'A doll is a lump of plastic, it represents nothing, means nothing and is nothing of any importance any more than a pile of lego bricks'
That person would be a true critic and skeptic, but that type of criticism does not exist as a counterpoint, the critics , researchers and the dolls owners all feel the same way, that the doll is an entity almost equal to a human being.
But nobody expresses that feeling in a logical sense. Afterall one could simply say that a doll is the same as any other sex toy on the market yet people feel it is different even though it logically is not.
As a doll owner of several dolls i can say that in person it is hard not to think of the doll as an entity that is more significant than a lump of plastic, but i also am aware that this is an illusion created in my mind, i cannot ignore it but i can be rational.
So this leads to the child-dolls, if you was in a room with a doll that looks 6 years old it is unlikely you would feel as though that is a lump of plastic, you might actually get a nurture instinct kick in, the rational adult part of your brain is then in conflict with that feeling.
The laws exist to protect children...except that is a lie, the underlining truth is the laws are to protect dolls but nobody wants to say that's what it is because you would look and sound nuts. Instead that feeling is rationalised into an excuse.
The talk of banning the adult dolls is the exact same thing, it's done from feelings not facts. Which is why they'll attempt to form a similar argument. We do not objectify women but rather we humanize the dolls and thats what everyone seems to be doing including the researchers and law makers.
A doll owner and a state prosecutor actually have to be in lock step with each other, if the prosecutor also acts as a skeptic and just sees a lump of plastic then he cannot prosecute in good faith.

Um , ok , may I throw my hat in the ring ? But um , I believe that because there are different levels of offense , the general public is skiddish about a representation of a whole human being . We have in the market place , parts of a represented sex organ . Other wise these dolls are inflatable . Um , but the feer is that you can get an elexa and re enact your fantasy is scary to some , so they become adverse to the idea .
But I want you think (with an open mind ) what can elexa do ? It can record ! It can playback . And because of that , um , psychology can get a better idea how the sex drive in humans looks so dangerous , as compared to animals /which is what the uninformed tend to compare the acts to . Can you see the difference ?
The act of sex observed by an outsider can look pretty brutal . But what if the (subject) victim enjoys it ?
I don’t know where to go from here , because this is a can of worms .

And they call Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein & Norman Bates criminally insane, truth be told tho, soon get ready for whole generations of them 🫦👀🤡 ....
💭 - Jeffrey Dahmer - "It's a process, it doesn't happen overnight, when you depersonalize another person and view them as just an object. An object for pleasure and not a living breathing human being. It seems to make it easier to do things you shouldn't do.".. 💭
💭 "The only motive that there ever was was to completely control a person; a person I found physically attractive. And keep them with me as long as possible, even if it meant just keeping a part of them."💭..

    This video is so unserious/nonscientific.
Self Assessment/Public Surveys are not science.

How else are you supposed to do it then?, they compare with a control group. There is no brain reading equipment, a polygraph isn't science either . Most people don't even want to participate in these things let alone be hooked up to equipment or forced to travel to be seen in person.

Ok , Steve , what do you propose ? This vid is only a discussion . And they’re going into uncharted territory . Enter your thoughts . Let’s see if you have anything you can offer . I would be interested .
