Where I Go on Tigerlily has some great "frills" or embellishments thrown in. One of these days I will figure these out. She's awesome and as far as I'm concerned, her guitar helped make Tigerlily the success that it was.
Loved Jennifer Turner the first moment I saw her with Natalie Merchant. She manage to sound raw and polished at the same time... never quite heard that quality in anyone else.
I had the opportunity to meet Jen at the Sacramento airport a few years ago. I was carrying my guitar with me, which must have been why she asked if I would watch over her guitar while she got some coffee from Starbucks. She really is a nice, trusting, talented, and open person. Disappointed there wasn't more time to sit and chat about music before my flight, but very happy I was able to meet her under such random circumstances, not knowing who she was prior.
It's like de ja vu..Jennifer Turner was so young when she helped Natalie Merchant with her Tigerlilly album..and now she herself helps a young guitarist to blossom...
Great interview. I'm so proud of Jenn Turner, she is a local talent doing great 👍! Love and respect from Morris County New Jersey! That is were we are both from originally. I knew a friend from her old high school 🏫. Class of 1989. Keep up the great art/music 🎶 👌!
Great interview Hunter.... someone like Jen has so much musical experiences to offer from indie to mainstream, playing multiple instruments. Keep up the good work ! I look forward to hearing more about you in the coming years.
When I first saw the Carnival video on MTV, all I wanted to know was, who's on guitar? The phrasing in both the intro and the bridge felt like jazz, but in a good way - kind of like Carlos Santana, but in a very different voice. Hard to explain, not being really knowledgeable about music theory, I just know what I like, and I knew I really liked that. And don't trip on those dudes who can't wrap their minds around a woman guitarist. Nothing to prove to the likes of them.
Jen, you have grown into such a very butiful woman, God bless U, I hope u Mom is good, well and happy, love your family always, - Jane, u all always in my prayers really
I knew I wanted to be a musician when I was 13 or 14 so my parents did what they could to prevent me from learning an instrument. It drove me crazy to hear parents whine that their kids hated practicing their instruments or kids running out on practice. As a kid it was heartbreaking.
I love that! Makes her more of a real entity, she hardly has anything to prove! Touring Tigerlily at age 16! What's pissypedia gonna tell you? Some crap about relationships, her prefered amp, maybe something that'll ruin your opinion about her? Screw that!!!
***** I love her aswell, I just wish she'd done more. I would say she upstaged Natalie to the point where it caused some jealousy and she wasn't wanted for another album and tour! Thanks for the link
***** I find it hard to believe that other big acts didn't make her very good offers when it was apparent she was no longer with Natalie, and then furslide were immediately underwhelming! My guess is she saw the scary gross side of the music industry and wanted things on her terms or not at all. That I can respect alot. After all she was only about 16 on that tiger lily tour I think (her age changes depending who you ask lol, the internet obviously adds to the confusion as some ppl believe Google is Gospel). Some journalist was on this topic of her lack of product and back catalogue and ended the article just thanking her for what she had done, I agree
+Jon Foster As far as i Know she does not have any children. She works regularly most recently in the band, High Desert Fires. She doesn't always respond to Facebook messages, but is friendly.
Jennifer Turner,..Just her playing on the song "Wonder" is enough to have my respect and admiration.
One of my guitar heros. Great tone and really beautiful pick'n.

I love hearing Jen play especially with Natalie when they created Tiger Lilly, keep up the wonderful music Jen.
I always loved the background singing like it was in my soul.
Jennifer Turner is a criminally underrated guitarist. I've got 30 years on her, and count her as an influence based on her playing on Tiger Lily.

Buelligan88 I know, right?!?
Jen plays like a schooled player ..... advanced, beautiful electric comping and solos. I wonder how she developed her style, who did she mimic, etc?

dwc1964 First hearing Carnival, I thought the player WAS Santana, then I saw live on SNL and WOW!!
When will Hunter Lombard be doing a world tour?

For whatever it's worth, Jen Turner doesn't have a entry in wikipedia.

***** I do actually know all that stuff, you have to admit it's a poor body of work for someone so talented right?

Same thats why i cheched her out
If you are doing an interview, stop interjecting your own feelings into the interview! Let Jen talk without always interupting about your experience!

0:51 a haiku for this talented but whiny lady:
Where is the love for
us bluesmen, Jen? Where? so harsh
Bluesmen will rock you
Funny part is she has a bluesy style.
Cute
Who the frigid Heather Lombard????
Love Jennifer but quit with the victim syndrome....
She is super talented but I agree,..It is a worn out complaint. Complaining over such small things actually comes across as arrogant.
