    MAF fixed the lame performance and acceleration- it absolutely hammers and smokes the tires like a V8 should. Odd that it never threw any kind of warning or errors. Oh well. Easy fix

      @christopher6161 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      how did you determine it was the MAF? regardless you probably need a good ozone generator for the interior

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@christopher6161 Funnily enough i’ve got one on the way. Was not planning to use it for car purposes- more the bathroom i need to renovate. Its no longer used because of water leakage and a biohazard from all the black mould. Im a little concerned about the ozone destroying the rubber in the car and causing corrosion to any bare metals. It produces 100g/h.

    This w210 would be just Engine, transmission here in Canada. Rest would be rot. These things rust like CRAZY. Amazing condition.

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      haha, I totally understand. Even here in Australia it seems near impossible to find one with no rust at all. I still have to deal with the bottom of the rear left door before it spreads to visible areas.

    For a Pre-Facelift example, it's in great shape! I had a 1998 430 "Sport" model, and it was a wonderful car. I sold it with 320,000 MILES!! I also had a client with a 1997 E420 with 475,000 Miles, and still going strong (I'm an MB mechanic btw). The W210's are very long-lived vehicles, just like the W124! (with proper maintenance of course)

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly, in Australia we never got the M119 based w210’s. The E420 would have been a good project and an ideal candidate for building a 6 litre. I have seen only 1 e420 in Australia, a personal import. They didn’t know what they had and it got scrapped and recycled 😞

    Looks like a very nice car! I also have a 2000 E430 (luxury/standard). Great cars! Not very fast though! I had a failed throttle position sensor as well... sometimes they fail without a code, if it's just on the edge of tolerance.

    Great buy, I for one like the w210 good honest cars without a lot of troublesome electronics. It should clean up a treat. I was going to say the 430 engine is a good solid lump and don't have major issues , so glad it was just the maf

      For the sake of the fuel system alone, no W124 will ever be easier to maintain than a w210.
      W210's are less analog than W124's of course, but are still "dinosaurs" compared to anything after.

    There was a service campaign for those door seals here in US. They took it in and added some wax or something; it didn't take them very long. Maybe they would fix that rust spot for you and add the wax now for free, who knows.

      That was tim, not me saying that- i was supposed to mute that section 😂 The context to that was - over in my state there are many 210’s getting around in very sad states being driven into the ground. They are at that stage now with rock bottom values. I mentioned I didn’t want people thinking I was one of those types.

    Nice find. The 4.3 M113 is damn fine smooth donk and can only imagine that in a lighter car than the S430 that it must go well. I've just bought a CL500 sight unseen so been waiting for that but watching your videos on that.

    Ironically, I love my 99 E320 more than my 1994 300TE wagon! Your "new" E430 looks very nice as is. Cosmetically, it looks much better than most here in the states ( where many have 200,000+ miles). They are awesome cars! I, for one, like the styling more than the "boxy" styling of the W124.

    For cleaning the leather... I've tried EVERYTHING, and the only thing i've found to work WELL is "colourlock" Strong Leather Cleaner and protectant. With a natural brush (or spin brush on a drill!). MB Genuine products sells a leather cleaner that is very similar (foaming kind).

      Queensland redbacks at that. Allegedly customs inspectors looked at the car when docked in Perth too (came by coastal shipping) and they didn’t even care about all the leaf littler and moss etc and stowaway spiders.

    The first thing to do and the most important in a w210 automatic is to change the transmission filter and transmission oil otherwise the filter gets clogged with metallic particles and the transmission oil pump starves of oil.

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep its on the to do list. Theres no service history with the car but suspect it has been done at some stage previously- Tim noted the heat shield on the electrical connector was missing, so someones been in there. The car needs a good service, the air filter for example looks like its never been changed and is absolutely filthy.
