You never actually clarified why you think the big V8 engine does not suit the car, and I'd like to know why, as I completely disagree. A big lazy V8 coupled with a slushbox transmission is absolutely perfect for a big comfortable family car. It will effortlessly waft down the road without much trouble.
W210 estate, might be better suited for turbo diesel

I like them so much I own 2, a 2000 E430 and a2001 E430 Sport. I also owned a 1998 E320 for many years. The V8 is an amazing engine and makes the car quite quick. I can see the same generation E55 becoming a classic as it was much more rare. But these are great cars, much more modern feeling than the W124, of which I still own a 1990 300CE, an amazing car.

Love the video! From my understanding the mode buttons are S = Standard and W = Wet (takes off in 2nd gear).

I bought a 2001 E430 Avantgarde for £1500 about 6 years ago. Have spent very little on it since and it’s just kept going. Early on I did the water pump but that’s about it. Great cars!
