    Thank you. Seems as most other videos let the camera adjust white balance so the results are useless. Thanks, this is very good... The human eye is more sensitive to the warmer end, more amber/yellow wavelengths, so more visible than toward the cool blue end...

    5000K seems a little "spooky" kinda light which reflects with low contrast. 4300K may appear a little yellowish but it's more "visible" light which brings more contrast and definition, at least to my eyes.

    Thank you so much for this video! You're awesome man, it helped me a lot. I was deciding between 6000k or 8000k but people say that 8000k is borderline ricey and cop's are also able to distinguish you from groups easier. So I went with 6000k HID.

    My GMC Sierra stock lights are too bright. I get the high beam flash a lot when driving at night. I switched cars with my wife to see my GMC coming towards me. Sure enough they look like high beams. I need to decrease the light so I might go with either 8 or 10K.

      If they are stock HID, then re-aim them.if they are aftermarket, then you should add a custom anti-glare shield , i have a video on that.

    Thanks a lot for such good explanations, was wondering about and HID kit for my Fabia 2, hallogen bulbs are terrible, I can barely see anything when I have a night drive... As it's a bit illegal I would go for the 5000 K, 6000 K color is really nice but it's too evident that you have xenon bulbs.

    55W at 6000K is the best look and best visibility. 35W at 6000K is way too blue. At 55W, its white with a blueish tint. If you're looking to get a 35W kit, then get one with a 5500K bulb. DDM Tuning kits are by far the best I've used.

    • @orfeous
      @orfeous 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, didnt know that.. ive always used ~35W kits with 6000K. Never tried 50 or 60..etc.. mostly because im afraid to blind other cars and/or they will flash me.. dont know if that will be the case with going from 35-40W to 50-60W?

      @@orfeous with halogen housings, the 35W doesn’t produce a bright wide beam. Works fine with HID projectors. As long as your headlights are aimed right, you shouldn’t be blinding anyone.

    5000k is white, anything higher is blue, I would rather have 4300k over 6000k ANY DAY. Adding a blue filter to the bulb reduces light output. That's why manufactures use 4300k no color filter used for the bulb glass so maximum brightness.

    Drivers side is always the left side of the vehicle. Just in case you ever ordered something you would say I need the left fender skirt. That's the drivers side. And before anyone argues the fact get a flashlight and go look at your taillight on the drivers side you'll see an L or if you were to take out the skirt it will have an L or any part for that matter. Always stand in the back of the vehicle and go by left and right not the front. Just trying to help. :-)

      SalemMillion These are actually LED bulbs not HID. They are not as bright as HID. The technology just isn't good enough to be used in a headlight application. In the future, we will probably see LED being brighter than HID but currently HID is the superior, brighter technology.

    Great Vid. I seen some vids about different power outputs of the ballast also causes a colour differentiation given the same temperature, commonly a 35W vs a 55W. It'll be great if you could do a vid on how 'washed out' a given temperature will be with a same temp bulb.
    One things is not talked about clearly or lacking info online is the major differences between an 'S', 'R' and 'C' bulb as I understand fundamentally what each stands for and hence need to match the type with the design of the headlight but would be interesting to see footage of 'mismatched' setups, ie D4S bulb on a D4R Headlight or vice versa given the ballast specs are the same.

    I always hated 4300k light bulbs, not just in cars but also in home lighting fixtures. For cars, I tried from 2500k to 12000k and I love having 2500k on fog light and high beam (for DRL function), and 6000k/8000k for low beam. For dinning room lighting fixtures, I used 5000k, and for bed room I used 6000k. I wonder why did manufacture not using 5000k for all cars instead? 4300k stock halogens are sxitty with limited light output, and there should be a law that bans the manufacturing of 4300k bulbs.

And when ordering it gave me a huge variety of anything from say 3k-12k+ The main reason I want hids is because I am blacking my car out. So i am tinting the headlights a bit, so that in itself will put my visibility/brightness down alot. So I want hids too help me with my visibly and brightness and being able too see more. And you have made it clear that 6k is the way too go!! Thank you soo much.

      That's what I thought too. I bought 5000K V3 Triton switchbacks, but my fog LEDs are 6000K, and the mismatch in color is driving me nuts, especially during the day. After seeing both colors in person, I think 6000K will look the best. 5000K LEDs don't look right during the day. 6000K matches daylight much better.

    The average human eye has its greatest sensitivity to light at a wavelength of about 550 nm, in the yellow to green region of the visible spectrum. The eye's sensitivity to light drops off and eventually goes to zero as light goes below red into the infrared spectrum and past violet in the ultra-violet region. A blackbody radiator with a color temperature of about 5300 K has its peak emission at 550 nm and so that is the color temperature that I shoot for when looking for a bulb that will maximize nightime visibility.

    Hi there, excellent video! You mention in the video that 5000K is whiter then 4300k with a slight tint of yellow. 6000k is the bright white.
    Your response to comments below you state that if you want all white with no tint of (blue or yellow) go with the 5000k. I'm a little confused. Is there a tint of colour in 5000K and does the 6000K have blue tint?
    I'm looking for a bright white HID with no tint of colour. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      michael rodrigues The reason I mentioned 2 different answer is because after doing this video, I realize the type of ballast (AC or DC voltage output) affected the color output on the same bulb. So the recommendation is get AC Ballast with 5000k bulb for pure white (meaning sunlight white). Some people perceive 'white' on HID as having a hint of slight blue, in which case 6000k.

      4200K color temperature has less blue light spectrum and also produces less UV invisible spectrum light than 5000K color temperature; also the cops generally don't like anything that is blue light spectrum light also well its not worth the hassle of being potentially pulled over and issued a citation; the cop will no doubt say your light is bluer than his whiter looking headlights on his police car; yes you can fight the ticket citation but then one has to appear in traffic court before the judge and still pay the traffic court costs to appear for the judge; its not worth the hassle probably; one has better chance with the 4200K color temperature Hid light as that is the whitest available Hid light on the warmest available Hid spectrum with the least amount of blue spectrum light; so ones chances of successful appeal are the best overall and in your favor if you have to get pulled into traffic court before the judge.

      They will vary slightly if you use a light spectrometer, but to the naked eye they will look the same. You can even go up/down by 20% of the lumens and not really notice by eye either.

    What's the color that gives you that LED fluorescent color. Basically white with a very, very small hint of violet.

    Hello,
    I would like to fit Zorbes H4 12V 60/55W Halogen Bulbs 6000K Xenon in Hyundai i20 car which has H4 60/55w bulb connector . But below are some dauds and would be pleased if you could kindly help me.
    1. Being of the same specs with this particular car, can I used just by replacing the factory fitted bulbs?
    2. Do any extra wiring is necessary for the new bulb and should relay be compulsory for the bulbs to work in this car?
    Thanks.

    very nice and informative video bro , that was very usefully to decide put a xenon 4300k on my car, to get the more high visibility on the ways to avoid the potholes, thanks a lot. Regards.

      dial2fast bro but talking in real terms what is the grade temperature to get the better high visibility on the way? I need the best option because here in Monterrey México we have a lot potholes every where and today i had 3 tires damaged about that so could you suggest me the better option please?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex Villarreal Wow that sucks that your tires are damaged. My opinion is anything from 4300k to 6000k has good light output. Anything higher and it's useless. 5000k has very good light output and that's the one I like to use. Just be aware there will be glare in reflector housing to on coming traffic when you install HID bulbs in these type of housing.

    I can't choose whether to get 4300k or 6000k. Please help with advice. A couple questions right off the bat, Do 6000k really make a significant hindrance during driving in wet conditions? and, Are 4300k noticeably yellow in hue?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When this video was made, it was mainly based on HID xenon lights and LED was coming into market. With HID, 6000k definitely had a blue hue. But with LED, the color temperature rating seem to be different. What I mean is LED 6000k often is a pure white color. So if you want a pure white color, either get 5000k HID or 6000k LED. 4300k on it's own looks white, but next to 5000k or 6000k it looks like it has a yellow hue.

    What do you prefer in terms of light output and color temprature? 4300K or 5000K? I have a 4300K bulb and 4 6000K bulbs laying around, but I haven't gotten to test the 5000K yet, but very hyped to try it doe :)

    • @dial2fast

      +SchweinungHD I love 5000k because it's bright and pure white. I don't care for any blue as it makes it look like a cheap add on.

    • @SchweinungHD
      @SchweinungHD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly what I'm thinking. I want the best amount of light, and to be honest, for a street car/motorcycle, I like what I've seen of the 5000K temprature, but hard to imagine through a screen :p I'm helping a friend in his Toyota Supra getting som HID's, and I don't want it to look like a cheap add on! Thanks for the help :)

    • @dial2fast

      +SchweinungHD One more thing, try to get AC ballast. DC ballasts makes the 5000k look blue also. I have a video showing you this th-cam.com/video/wm6j_HTx28g/w-d-xo.html

    • @SchweinungHD
      @SchweinungHD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dial2fast I really did not think that the type of voltage would have any effect on the color temperature. I have a couple AC ballasts laying around, and those cost me a bit more. They last longer and I believe they warm up the bulb faster. I also have some DC, of the same type and design as the one in the video you sent, but haven't tried those yet. Will definitely be looking out for some AC tho! Thanks for the heads up! :)

    Folks, you don't drive looking at your bulbs!!! There is a reason why factory bulbs from most if not all manufacturers are 4300K!!! Anything over 5000K and the amount of light will actually be LESS!!! This is not how your eyes work. Looking at the color of the bulbs is meaningless if you don't understand what they mean and actually do!!! The amount of lumins of 6000K and above is actually LESS than 4300K!!! To put a blue or purple looking bulb just for the sake of bulb color is STUPID and tells the world you are a moron.
