I have been waiting to start a drone video channel for years. To that effect, I much appreciate your productions displaying a high degree of knowledge and enthusiasm. I have been involved in the field of R/C and drones for more than 40 years (no kidding) and continue the involvement as an Aeronautic College teacher and active drone flyer on several type of drones, from Tello size mini drones to the DJI Matrice series. With videos such as this one, you are adding pressure on the trigger... ;) Enjoying your informative and inspirational work!

I always appreciate your videos. You have a very down-to-earth presentation style and you hit on the information that we are generally wondering. If I had this microphone, I would most likely use it as a studio mic like you do. I have the wireless go that I like to use when I'm in my car or outside and am currently using a video micro when I need something really quick (instead of setting up and turning on the wireless go).

As a high school student, I would use this mic to record voice-overs. Because schooling has gone online now, teachers are assigning video projects that require students to talk in the video. I had a project recently and my audio didn't sound great because I was using my laptop's built-in mic. This mic would definitely help with audio quality.

Not to be too nerdy here but technically you should be using a small diaphragm condenser for indoor audio. Shotgun mics are designed for outdoor use, the interference tube at the end is designed to help reduce noise coming from outside the pickup pattern, however they can serve to increase how much reverb the mic picks up indoors. This isn't to say that you won't get decent audio in a well treated space, but my understanding is that you should look at a small diaphragm condenser if you're recording indoors.
Also, just so people know, those wind muffs aren't designed to block outdoor wind, they're more designed to block wind caused from microphone movement (such as on a boom pole titling back and forth quickly between two speakers). If you want to block wind, you need a blimp.

I have this mic and I have used it on several projects. The audio is crisp and nice. The battery life is nothing to worry about as it can go a few days on a full charge. It has pro features like 75 and 100 db cut. It's a really nice mike .... until .... you start getting loud. I was doing a narrative based film with this mic when one of the actors had to shout aggressively as part of his dialogue for that scene. It distorted badly and very very obviously. Note: IT DID NOT CLIP. And this was the problem. After some investigation I found the SPL on this mic was on 105db and it had distorted because the mic just couldn't handle the volume of the actors voice in that situation. I tried another mic, my professional mic which is a Sennheiser ME66 and of course it passed my tests of me screaming down the mic at close range to try and get it to distort. The ME66 has an SPL of 130db. After some searching I discovered the DIETY D4 had the same SPL as my ME66 and so I purchased that. Problem solved. My Comica VM20 is now on eBay.

Four weeks ago I was looking for a portable light source and you made my shopping quick and easy by reviewing the Panel Pro. Got it and liking it. I'm late to the game on this one so no giveaway for me but just researching this microphone to use on a Panasonic Lumix FZ300 / FZ330. This would be the first external mic for me so an upgrade from using the cameras built in mic. I'd like to hear if you did continue to use the Comica mic or have any longer term opinions or even anything newer on the market which may be cometitive before I go ahead and order one.

Love your channel Russ. I repost many of your videos on my DJI mini members page FB. I have been recording and editing together some great video and would like to create a beginner channel for drone users. I have an audio background so I appreciate good sound. Would love to get this mic to add to my gear without killing my budget to get this off the ground. Thanks for all you do.

I also have the Rode Video Mic and it seems a bit low end, but works ok. I'd love this as an upgrade for my videography work. It would let me put the Rode on my B-cam to catch more overall sounds, while this would focus on the subject.
