That's pretty trippy! And yes, when it's in such a survival situation, all the nutrient and reserves in their body go to keeping the bird alive, the molt is not important anymore.. Great explanation James.
Great bird. She must of went through a great ordeal trying to get back. And facing a difficult time running away from predators and objects. With no food. Stressed. And she still feeling the fear. Hopefully being added back with the flock will help her calm down and relax and feel safe again. But I wouldn't let her out for a while yet until she calms down.
These feathers can also appear on a bird that recovered from the Paramyxo virus (probably with the same logic - it didn't feed properly while being very sick).
Hey sorry this is a whole different subject what happened to thing 1s wing I've been wanting to ask for a while now i just dont get to it i get distracted with all the good looking birds
Ooo I just thought of a name suggestion given her feathers in the top of her head and her natural frill!!
Faux Hawk (the hairdo)
You made a good explanation on why birds often molt in poorly from stressful incidents.
Thanks my friend!

Frill/zipper
flier or breeder
What is your opinion?
A frill will have zero impact on a bird’s racing or breeding performance 👍🏼
