Yes, the Germans did have an influence over Chile's military, they trained them and even gave Mausers to the Chilean Carabineros (the actual Chilean police, idk what was their job back then), there's another Chilean uniform that is more similar to a German one. The Chilean army has made some Prussian Parades and we're called "the other Prussian army" (or something similar, I don't remember very well), and some people say they are better at keeping the German history than the Germans itself.

Two points. The Nordic uniform will be issued in each country's respective camouflage. The colour seen, was used during trials. The reason for the cooperation, is economic. Four countries together, will get better prices, than four seperate countries.
What you called an Argeintinian "helmet", is actually a "shako". It absorbed some of the force of sabre/sword cuts, just like the bear skins used by French and British guards....

The Nordic uniform seems to be using the same "Canadian buttons" that were used on various pieces of Danish uniform pieces, most notably the smocks. They're very durable, silent and easy to use, and most importantly also easy to use while wearing winter gloves.

Hi Antonio, greetings from Argentina, new subscriber here (a few minutes ago).
A little bit of history to enlighten you about min 9:52. The Mounted Grenadier Regiment (or Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo) was founded in 1812 by our "Father of the Land" (Padre de la Patria) Col. José de San Martín, later General, when he came back from Spain.
His very first battle took place Feb the 3rd of 1813 in a battlefield called San Lorenzo in our province of Entre Ríos against Spanish troops who were against our independence, and he won that battle. He, among others, were leaders of our independence from the Spanish Crown.
Later, due to his success, he was commissioned to help Chile and Perú for their liberation as well and also succeeded. BTW: in both Countries he is well recognized.
After that and because of several intestine fights, he decided to migrate to France where he died Aug the 17th 1850 at the age of 78 in the city of Boulogne Sur Mère.
Several years later, a constitutional president negotiate with France to bring back his remains witch rests in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires guarded by 7 Grenadiers of his former Regiment.
Because of all that history backing up this iconic Regiment, at the beggining of the XX Century it was decided that the Mounted Grenadier Regiment were the custodians of our Presidents and not only in a ceremonial way, but also in a practical way (something like the US Secret Service).
Two side notes: 1) The uniform was designed by San Martin him self inspired in his former Spanish Husars Regiment where he did his military career. 2) When San Martin´s remains came back from France, late in the XIX century, only 7 of his original Grenadiers were alive and those 7 escorted his coffin to his final rest place. Since then and until now, ONLY the 7 best performed Regiment Soldiers are given the honor to do that escort.
Third side note: every regiment has their own military band and the Mounted Grenadier Regiment is no exception, how ever it was for many years the ONLY mounted band existing in the world called the Mounted Regiment Fanfare.
I hope this comment will give you a bigger context about our well beloved Grenadiers.
Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina (a dream place).

In the US Army during the early 60s, the starched green fatigue uniform (daily work uniform) was typically worn with an ascot-style neck scarf in the color of one’s unit; eg, infantry - blue, artillery - red, medical - purple, Special Forces - camo, etc. With brightly colored unit patches and rank stripes, black US Army tape with gold lettering sewed above the left breast pocket, and white name tape with black lettering above the right, it was a fairly good looking uniform. Old film footage of combat troops in Vietnam shows them wearing it still. That changed quickly to more realistic drab colors, though.

Collectively there are 5 regiments of foot guards in the British Army and two cavalry regiments. They are all professional soldiers with hundreds of years of history and tradition behind them. They rotate through ceremonial duties in places such as London and on various military exercises. Each foot guards regiment will have different collar cuff and button formation on their scarlet tunics denoting the various regiment.
The two cavalry regiments wear different coloured tunics one scarlet the other blue. They make up the household division. Various other regiments and corps have their own traditional dress uniforms as do the Royal Marines, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

The Philadelphia City Cavalry, Front braids in the jacket were originally stiff wire, it protected against sword slashes, the shoulder boards intended to protect the shoulder blades from downward slashes. It's all from an era where armour would not stop a musket ball, but cavalry were expected to get into serious sword play (usually with other cavalry) so some protection is required. You will see Hussars with the small cape with the wire braid on it over one shoulder (to protect the arm holding the reins), even the Napoleonic fashion of braids of hair down the side of the face concealed bone, hard wood or even metal rods to protect the face from sword cuts.

@Realmenrealstyle I'm sure it's already been answered but the pouch worn in the front of the Royal Regiment of Scotland uniform is called a sporran. There are 'hair' varieties (horse, rabbit etc) and the plain leather type. There are some even with a badger's head (see Calgary Highlanders and Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders NCOs and officers). All sporrans have some sort of pouch - this is the 'pocket'. The white shoe coverings are called spats (similar to a gaiter but covers part of the top of the foot as well), and the socks are called 'hose' with a few varieties (half hose, full hose, lovat hose). Shoes are oxfords or brogues. Flashes are worn like garters at the top of the hose/sock and a small knife called a sgian dhu is worn in the right sock. In 'full dress' which is depicted, with the doublet, plaid (cape) and cross belt, another dagger, called a 'dirk' is worn on the waist belt. Some other fun facts - Kilts often have a kilt pin, but some also have a 'kilt panel' on the front right and rosettes on back - a variation is seen on this RRS uniforms - not typically worn on 'regular' kilts - again see Calgary Highlanders, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Those were typical worn by NCOs and officers as well. The hat you see in video is called a feather bonnet and the red plume in it is called a hackel. More 'regular' head dresses that are often worn are called a glengarry, the tam o'shanter and balmoral. The Glengarry (and probably the balmoral) has a lot of symbolism to it (two peaks are highlands, tail is the following river. Hope you find these facts interesting!

The cover worn by the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry was practical against other cavalry; it's called a dragoon helmet, after the cavalry type that first used it. Dragoons were heavy cavalry units that were primarily used to conduct large cavalry charges, which necessitated the use of armor, hence the armored helmet and. They are not to be confused with cuirassiers, however who wore both the helmet and a breastplate called a cuirass. (this is a generalization and of course there were exceptions)

On the Argentine cavalry uniform, I really like the buttoned plastron on the chest. It, like the cover (which was called a "shako") harkens back to the Napoleonic era...which is sometime referred to as the "Era of the Military Tailor." The upside to the uniforms of that era is that while every regiment in a given class, infantry, artillery or pioneer wore a specific basic uniform, but each regiment also had distinct differences. It might be in the lace or the piping but you could look at 4 regiments...every regiment could be identified by purpose...but you could identify each regiment individually by subtle differences. When it came to cavalry regiments, every nation essentially went fashionably nuts...just pull up some of the Hussar uniforms if you want panache and class.

Two things: 1) The item in front of the kilt is called a sporran; 2) the Marine Corps "Mess Dress" is actually called the "Evening Dress." The Mess Dress was retired back in the 1970's - 80's. It consisted of a white dinner jacket vice the dark blue. There were other small differences as well, but I wanted to point these things out. Otherwise and interesting, well-presented video. Thanks! That grey version of the new nordic combat uniform is just a prototype, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland will have the same uniform but in each camouflage pattern. My country (Sweden) will keep the M90 with just a minor change, the pattern squares will be smaller than the previous to get a patent on the pattern which they messed up with the original M90 pattern. Thank you for the content!

The Norwegian camo pattern will look quite close to an kiwi with green background with small black dots on it. But to be fair it will probally take decades before the whole of norway military to switch to the new uniform and new camo pattern. Hell even a lot of our home guardsmen still use the m75, an super outdated and super heavy if its gets wet and takes ages to dry type off uniform.

The Turkish Air Force uniform at #6 is the ceremonial dress uniform. Regular dress uniform does not have the sword belt, gold embroidery on the shoulder board and is worn with blue (as opposed to white shirt).
The photos seem to be from graduation ceremony where the newly minted officers (who were cadets a day earlier) are wearing this uniform for the first time, hence the fit is not perfect.

One thing about a flat green or any monochrome daily work uniform is when it gets permanently stained you have to replace it , a sum what disruptive camo uniform can have a stain just fade into the patter , This applies doubly to patching a hole!So those flat OD uniforms are costing someone a lot more than something with DPM because they have to be replaced more often .

Those shoulder pads with a little bit of lace, the fringe, on them are called epaulets (or epaullets). They are usually worn by officers. The fancier the epaulet, more fringe, the higher the rank. They can be worn by all ranks with the insignia of rank on them, but the higher ranks will still be fancier.
