  • Tezomeya is a little known Japanese brand producing some of the finest hand-dyed loopwheel t-shirts around. The Kyoto-based company has been amazing garments for quite some time now although has been flying under the radar (at least for me).
    In this episode I talk more about what Tezomeya do and their unique offering. Enjoy.

    @CameronO, what would you recommend as size between 175 cm and 175 options - I am 6ft 1” and about 180 lbs. I believe I have quite similar measures as yours but Tezomeya sizing is kind of confusing. My usual size is L but while I was watching your video, I guess I should go for 175cm Tezo sizing…

    I wonder about their sizing tho, they list 99 cm chest for 175 cm, which sounds a tad tight but the next size is 107 cm chest at 185 cm height, it's as if they're missing a 104 cm chest 180 cm height.

    I think a hand-dyed, loopwheeled tee at that price, as well-made as you say, is pretty phenomenal, and I really hope they're turning a decent profit. How sturdy would you say the neck is in comparison to similar brands? Does it look like it would keep its shape well?

    • @rtdonnel
      @rtdonnel ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm also curious about the neckline. I have a few of the Warehouse Ts and they do a great job of holding a tight, neckline shape.

      I posted a more in depth comment about my experience with tezomeya on this video, however I do not like their neckline and found it to be not very sturdy. It was cut a little large and would droop when wearing a jacket, as well as crinkle up in some parts. I owned three tezomeya shirts.

    To be honest, I don't really like Tezomeya. I used to own three of their t-shirts. Firstly, this is purely my opinion, but I don't like how they look. For jeans, I understand wanting some slub, but on t-shirt, I feel that it just looks quite sloppy. It looks like the t-shirt is really badly piling and makes it look worn out rather than "worn in." Moreover the collar crinkles up and appears bacon-y and I found that it is quite large too, so when wearing a jacket the shirt tends to fold outwards at the neck and droop down at the neck. Secondly, I found the t-shirts extremely uncomfortable- namely itchy. The collar tag is terrible and the edges of the tag would constantly poke at my neck/ back and the slub on the inside of the tees felt like I was constantly getting poked by a prickly plant. The itch was absolute terrible, and outweighed any "softness" gained from loopwheeling, which I didn't really notice a considerable difference as compared to non loopwheeled t-shirts anyways. I think sometimes in this genre of fashion, the story or ethos of a brand is a little over romanticized, and I do not believe that Tezomeya lives up to the hype.

      Agreed, thanks for this good insight. I'm going to pay attention to the collar more so now. I totally get what you mean about thr worn out look. I got that from the RMC loopwheel shirt. The other half said it looked rubbish. It's a fine line so keen to see how this one looks after a while too. I saw these this week and was keen to see how they go as well - www.wildfrontiergoods.com/product-page/natural-kakishibu-loopwheel-t-shirt If you reach out to them they do any colour much like Tezo.

    • @jacobdiamond7292
      @jacobdiamond7292 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CameronO If someone were up for it, they could buy a white Old But Gold or unbleached Tezo. Then some real natural kakishibuzome from Japan and do it themselves for 1/5 the cost.
      I have no artistic experience, but did this myself and it was a lot of fun with little time and effort. Of course it would be wise to practice on a cheap shirt first 😀

    • @bandannaalmanac
      @bandannaalmanac ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slub is a type of yarn. Tezomeya does not use slub yarn. They do use the reverse side of the fabric though. I think this is for aesthetic reasons. Almost all the knit products of Tezomeya are inside out. Also I’ve owned Tezomeya products over 10+ years and I’ve never found the collar to be as you describe it as “bacon-y”. I’ve seen plenty of other Japanese brands use ribbing on the collar which is a cheaper way to do it instead of using the base knit fabric. I mean it’s a T-shirt after all it’s supposed to be a little sloppy.

  • @justinharris8833
    @justinharris8833 ปีที่แล้ว

    i can tell right away by the collar that over time it will not hold up. i see another comment below that had the issue so it’s a further save my money type situation. the wait time was also a set back because imo there’s nothing really special about these. is the cotton labeled as certified organic or are they simply saying it’s organic? that’s another thing being thrown around lately. there’s no guarantee unless it’s certified…

    • @bandannaalmanac
      @bandannaalmanac ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually they hold up just fine. The tees are made with 100% Fox Fiber cotton.
