Adyashanti: Q&A-where is awareness when I'm asleep? What happens in the 5 seconds not thinking self?

    "...That's the amazing thing about truths. The truths are so out in front. they're so open, and we just don't even pay attention to them, like if you just notice for a moment [2,3,4,5], now in those five seconds, you-whatever you are, you didn't disappear; but in those five seconds when you're not thinking about yourself, not only do you as you know yourself disappear, as you can think about yourself, but your parents disappeared, your birth disappeared, yesterday disappeared, tomorrow disappeared, your children disappeared, every everything that thought conjures disappears-just literally you stop thinking about it and it disappears from your mind, right?..."
    "...the part of us that's afraid of dying is what we're not. It's not what we are..."
    "...but it's this thing-it's what I think about myself, my capacity to think about myself, my capacity to know that I am here and present is if that disappears. That's what we're really concerned about, isn't it? That's what we're really concerned about, and we will believe anything that will in some way tell us that we will retain that. I am not saying whether you will or you won't. I'm not saying either way mostly because I don't want to leave people with just another idea in their head or a belief because the the question is much more important than any answer anybody could give you because the question takes you into the reality of you; the answers just protect you from the reality of you..."

    ~~~
    In this essential talk, Adyashanti explores two fundamentally different motivations that human beings bring to spirituality. He first shows how the psychological desire to feel better and be constantly happy only leads to persistent suffering. He then reveals how the existential drive to see what’s really true regardless of our emotional state can free us to discover the simplicity and happiness of what we already are.
    Topics Include:
    The Psychological Orientation
    The Existential Viewpoint
    Being Hunted by God
    Real Happiness
    There’s No Self in Craving
    What’s Valued?
    Awareness in Sleep
    Seeing Through Depression
      It's actually quite obvious/simple to anyOne awakened to the truth of our being, but the conceptualization of that knowing can be confusing/misleading...🙏
      @@KungWu It would make sense to me that the universe would not confuse or mislead any person, the human mind of any person (u, me or anyOne) who wasn’t aware of this awakening or awaken truth so why not give up the goods? I guess I’ll never know 🙏 but if I did know I’d sure tell others 😅
