the delay wasn’t for production reasons tho, it was just cus they couldn’t find a time slot on the tv program, so it had to be delayed by a couple months

It's subtle but you can see the shaking reflections in Shin's eye. He's composed but trembling, holding an overflow of emotions. Really love his character development.

All the little details just makes the already emotional scene better and better
The tracks were symbolizing their journey from literally the opening moment of the series. They come up several other times too, like when Raiden confronts Shin about how he isn't even seeming to be interested in making it back alive from the Morpho fight.
1:40 ive watched this scene over ten times now and only just realized they all called out to the cat with their own nicknames simultaneously, i love this series for all the details.

Unfortunately, i watched this before i watched 86. Thought it was beautiful. Now after i watch the show. It has a buttload more meaning. I notice every single detail, the same posture she exit the memorial,the fido memory recording, she stunned after being called Major(she is a colonel now), the Cat nickname, the traintrack shot from wasteland, sunset alone, and end of track, and their hand at the end forming 86. If before i was crying, now my room is flooding.

The train tracks are really symbolic as well. Lena has been following them just like she has been following their will, she now finally reached the end of the track. Aka her final destination which is the spearhead squadron and will now fight alongside them.
This anime was an unexpected gem. It's really one of a kind.
The story is well-told and beautifully animated. I can't put it into words.
I nearly cried so many times in the final episodes of this season I lost count.
This anime will always hold a special place in my heart. This was an emotional journey.

I love this anime to bits. This season’s ending was beyond incredible; it wouldn’t be wrong to call it a perfect ending. The camera angles, the timing with the song, and the fact that they blend the past with the present. It’s all just so amazing.
P.S. if you’re wondering why those train tracks look sort of familiar, it’s because the tracks are supposed to refer back to the train tracks that Lena was standing on at the end of season 1 when she visits District 86.
And Lena reached what lay at the end of those tracks 😭😭😭
Well come to say the whole continent and all the countries are connected by the same railway. So its not that weird that they all look the same everywhere else. 😂

If you haven't watched this anime you wouldn't know how impactful this scene was. It sent shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes when I watched this the first time. I sometimes go back to this scene and somehow I remembered every episode and every character in this gem, passed away or not.
Truly, we will never forget...

I've read past where this scene takes place in light novels. It only goes uphill from here (figuratively, it's still got plenty of painful but real moments)
Honestly I heard the ending theme and saw the video for it before I even knew about this series, and it alone got me into watching it. Glad I did. One of the best out there.
When you realize after watching this scene like 10 or so times that they must sound really weird to Lena cause she has mostly heard them speak with their own sense of hearing. It would be like hearing a recording of your voice for the first time.
she still recognized everyone else's voices quickly. Shin recognized Lena's voice in the previous ep instantly. Its been 1.5 years since they really last spoke to each other after they left the special recon mission and lost contact with Lena.
Kinda surprised that Shiden (Cyclops) didnt tell Lena about the reaper symbol on the mech during the five months between episode 22 and 23 in the shows timeline. Shiden knew Shin too

A bit late, but in episode 22, when Shin hear the legion approaching, he goes from "I want to see her" to "PROTECC AT ALL COST"
You see in his eyes that if his mech was working that he would've not let the Legion come closer to her
This ending is without a doubt one of the best ending in the entire anime history.. from reunion to making 86 signs at the end pure poetry in motion..
if this show does get more series, I hope A-1 are able to keep the same staff and at least the same budget. seeing as how much care was put into this
The director, Toshimasa-sensei, might become very in-demand with how he directed the series. Hopefully he'd be available once this gets renewed.

This certainly had the Violet Evergarden feel to it. The two MCs having never met don’t know how they’re supposed to interact with another even though they’ve had to much emotion for each other. A hug seems appropriate but feels awkward for physical strangers.

I just finished this anime and I'm crying right now. Such a beautiful ending. Truly an underrated masterpiece.

Honestly, even wanting to see more, this is by far the best ending that we could have gotten, the soudtrack, the shots, the characters finally meeting each other without knowing, even their hands forming the '86'(2:30), everything is just PERFECT
So many other shows missed the mark because there was more story that maybe would be adapted, but this didn't, this made a great 'closed' ending while still keeping room to continuation
If we never get another season, I'd be happy with this being the ending, even if the series had alot more dark moments to come

I actually found this show randomly and knew nothing about it. Im so glad I gave a chance. Its a great show and this scene was so well done. It doesnt try to blow you way with some over the top story or animation (story is very good and the animation is amazing) I like how its just solid when it comes to telling the story. It invests you in it and makes you want more. I hope they keep doing it right and take whatever time they need to do it. We will all catch up when we can.

Fun fact I like to point out about this clip. At the end with the photo Kurena poses specifically to stretch her right leg [left from the viewers perspective] out to block Shin and Lena from coming too close together lol

The fact that the scene ended with the union of their hands forming the number 86, was simply incredible, a perfect transition, clever, maneuvered and unique.
By small details like this you can see the care that the animators and the studio in charge put, this ending was genuinely beautiful.
there is so much detail to unpack in this scene. as lena makes her way towards shin, we get a half second scene from the previous episode. from fidos pov, we can see lena walking right to left upside down. the right to left motif is used throughout the show and in japanese literature , right to left is a sign of progression and moving forwards. this is made possible because fido was upside down in the previous episode. as fido sees shin and lenas meeting, a part under his lens glints representing the tears/emotions of the audience because at that point, we are all fido. as the rest of the squad struggles to keep their composure, theo stands out from the rest remaining poised and respectful, a complete 180 from part 1 where he was lena's biggest critic. the reunion also a callback to episode 11 where everyone of them left notes on the 6th handler poster. the railway that seemingly went on never ending throughout the seasons is symbolic of lena trying to catch up with shin and the others. as the rails finally reach the end, theyre all reunited at long last. in the ending card, you can see kurena has her foot between shin and lena because shes in denial of their connection xd. the song playing while they meet is called LiLaS, an acronym for "Lena is Looking at Shin". the song is not about the first time they meet but the first time they set eyes on each other. when you combine and mix their eye colours, you get the colour of the LILAC. also the song lyrics are very well timed with the sequence "Right now meeting under the sky", "You were smiling", "My heart started crying out", "My eyelids started overflowing". the lyrics are literally telling the story of what is happening as they meet. And finally their hands come together forming the number 86. As a first time leading director, Toshimasha Iisha did an incredible job. Man i really hope this gets a second season.

I hate too be downer. The last time I watched this show was in the beginning of my army career. Now I’m disabled and with the memory’s of my dead friends. Mindless blood shed, meaningless, for a cause that wasn’t true or just, I later learned to accept that living is how you cherish their memory and never let them die. You tell their story to the next person. We are all afraid of being forgotten but as veterans. As long as you’re alive tell the story to your kids who will tell their grandkids and so on. Then their sacrifice wouldn’t have been for nothing . This show captured the feeling of survivals guilt to the tooth.
Good on you for surviving. Lena's words about how important survival is literally the episode before this probably made you shed ay least two tears.
Semper fi. Remember you friends while not letting them be a chain on your mind the same way Shin's friends became a chain on his mind. You've made it this far without dying, stand proud.

im rewatching it again and i still cry. god 86 was really that good. the most awaited and touching reunion ever, their emotions were overflowing especially Shin and Lena. the eyes, smiles, and the blushes like they longed for each for so long aah love them so much 😭 the details when Shin protected Lena from Fido when it moves shows how he’ll protect Lena in the future from now on, the train tracks details shows that Lena finally caught up, and the 86 hand shadows too at the end, I’ll just think they held hands after 🫣 the way they’re looking at Lena’s small drawings too, they must’ve been so touched how there’s someone out there genuinely cares and waited for them 🥹 they’re one of my fav anime squads fr. they fought so hard huhu (even the song added to my emotions huhu)
This truly one of my fav and unforgettable endings of all time. It was really emotionally and beautifully done ❤️

This was so sweet BUT there's still more, while seeing Lena again definitely helped him it's not as if she shows up and BAM all his problems are fixed. That just means we get to see more of Shin's journey tho

Given that we finished at the end of Volume 3, depending on how they pace it they could potentially have the next season finish right at a certain event in Volume 7.
@@PhoenixLance13 Nah, IMO they would do Vol 4-6 next, and the potential 3rd Season would adapt Vol 7-9. The structure of the LN suggests it as well because each 3 volumes usually tell the complete arc (with first of the three being semi-standalone, and second-third tightly linked)
@@PhoenixLance13 that won't happen, they would risk running out of the original source material very quickly if they did that, when we look at what we had released, it was very detailed, so by releasing more than three volumes in a season, it would also risk increasing the amount of time subsequent seasons are released, with that in consideration, A-1 found a perfect balance, just adapt three volumes at a time.

All throughout the show, Shin’s always carried the burden of his own existence, of Shinei Nouzen being the Reaper, an identity he never liked and it’s been really weighing on him since the beginning. What makes this scene so much better for me is that this is the first time we can clearly see him proudly say “Shinei Nouzen” without any of the weight he usually carried with it.
This is the best reunion scene ever 💕
When all artistic geniuses gather together and made this incredible once in a lifetime masterpiece of a scene. The music! The scenery! The storytelling! The cinematography! The emotional impact! The ending!!!! It's like a scene made by the gods!
It's sad that we might not be able to experience another masterpiece like this for the next decade, or century.

Can't get bored by watching their reunion again and again....they really gave their everything in order to survive..... One of best mecha anime ever
The build-up to this moment, with everything these people have been through, both together and alone... both the journey and the end were absolutely amazing. I do hope for more, but even without we will still have this absolute gem. It's made my top 10, for damn sure.

The level of emotion and hardship an so on in this show.. just put it on a different level to most other animes. You can't compare the hard journey these characters took to many other shows. EXTREMELY underrated show..

One of the best anime ever produced the story line, fight scenes, animations everything was just damn AMAZING!! You don't often get to see this level of anime......their reunion was just😭.....and kinda happy for lena and 86

I’m late commenting but I actually watched this anime when it first came out, but, Eighty-Six is beyond incomparable. I know this might sound strange but I’m so serious when I say this scene and the anime has made me cry as well as whenever I see this particular scene and others, none of the other similar anime’s have made me feel anything anywhere close to this one. This anime holds a special place in my heart for sure.
I just recently watched as well and am severely disappointed that the next season hasn’t been announced. This ending is great but kinda bittersweet since I wanted the group to talk more since they finally met up. Hope it gets announced soon I’m hungry for more :(
@@T3noir At this point I prefer that it simply ends and there are no following seasons. "Why?" you ask? Because (i) this is an absolutely perfect ending (ii) it can only go downhill from here and (iii) as it stands now, it's a full, self-contained 2-season anime that is amazing and unbelievable in almost all respects, up to the point of legendary status. And I don't want this to change.

I didnt expected a reunion like this, I was in tears finally a moment of pure happiness, it was so out of the ordinary, almost like if the war was already over
The shot of the train tracks leading up to them is a poetic touch from the last ep from cour 1 where it showed Lena alone in the sunset swearing that she will catch up to them and now the shot shows her with all of them indicating that she successfully caught up to them which is fucking amazing and poetic
I love an anime that keeps me engaged and on the edge throughout the season.
