As far as backup impact weapon, LAPD actually went to Pelican to design the 8060/7060 series to prevent the officers from being able to be able to use them as such.
Used to use the Pelican 7060, and it was like a modern LED and an old school Maglite had a sexy rugged baby. There are better lights out there but this might be the perfect duty light!
I used the Pelican 7060 for years and years, and, overall, it’s been the light that I liked the most. I’ve moved into a new position since that time and moved to a much smaller light, but the 7060, while large, was great. I’ll most likely never try this 8060, but it still looks great even if overly large. Great review!
My agency issued the 7060 you can probably guess what agency but its the best light ive used in patrol in my opinion. I still ride patrol a decade later and still use it.
From a security professional's perspective, I love the size and the long-lasting charge capability. The polymer construction, however, is a concern. For many security personnel working "unarmed", the duty flashlight IS the sole defensive tool they can get away with carrying, and one that is going to break is far less than ideal. Now, if Pelican would be nice enough to put out an aluminum version of this light, they just might knock Mag-Lite off their throne in the security industry.
I use this light and have had no issues. It is handy in self defense and durable as all hell. bright enough to blind. Our department issues them to us.
I have used the Pelican 7060 as a duty light in security mobile patrols for a few years really reliable. I keep an 8060 in my bag for checking larger sites and bushland. Never had an issue with either of these lights and I've beaten up on them a fair bit and the battery life easily lasts a full 7 days of nightshift. In my opinion well worth the money if you want a good all rounder and have somewhere to charge them at home.
Like that light but too big for me. I prefer the iPROTEC Pro Rechargeable. Small enough to clip into your pocket to save real estate on your belt. Very bright with high, medium, low, and strobe modes and lights up an entire building and dark areas outside. Found out a while back while inside a structural burn when I was a vol FF, it’s also magnetic on the top. I have one for work carry, home and car.
I’ve been using one on duty and it’s worked really well. It’s just super big. With modlite and other companies putting the same lumen output (and higher candela) into smaller packages there’s no reason why pelican can’t update this light to be the 7060 size. I think cops like a good 7-8 inch light since it can fit into sap pockets and can be put under the arm for writing cites, freeing up a hand, etc. Love the light just needs to be smaller.
I have this light and I absolutely love it very bright nobody can hide on you lol. Only downfall is hard to find a good holder for it beside a flashlight ring.
I have two 7060 and a 8060. I carried the 7060 for dayshift and 8060 for swings/graves. They are great, but heavy. I hate the charger with base. Should have a type c plug directly into the light. I use a very bright Amazon light now and a small bright backup, both direct plug to light charge. Amazon lights are way lighter too.
Mag lite has really fallen behind in the flashlight game unfortunately. 15 years ago before the LED became a huge thing they were decent. In my opinion streamlight is my go to brand
I started my career with a halogen strion, then went to LED strion, then Fenix PD35 tac. Currently I have a Nitecore p20i which I love because it uses USB C like my android phone. In my cruiser bag I keep my good old Magcharger LED. Just wondering why you prefer charging cradles? I like the USB C I plug my light in with my car charger for phone and top it off while doing reports.
I have a question why not just go with an o light I know the battery run time would not probably be as long but you could definitely get a charger for the car and keep it on the charger while you're driving around and when you get out just take it out
This one? th-cam.com/video/PxLM78TyMHQ/w-d-xo.html Long story short they pushed the top lumen performance numbers so far that the light doesn't really "work" as a duty light anymore.
Hey Tommy Maglite's new 4D claims to run close to 6 hours at 1000 lumens with a 500 meter beam, would you consider doing a review on it? It might be big for policing but I could see it do really well in unarmed security or search and rescue type activities.
you absolutely wear a thin blue line bracelet with oakley sunglasses, bdu pants, a thin blue line hat, thin blue line punisher shirt and be telling your chick "don't tell people im a cop babe! It's dangerous"
Nice! Finally a good baton with an excellent flashlight integrated 👌

I've silently wondered the same thing, Pelican should put aluminum versions of several of their lights out, just as Streamlight does.
Reminds me of the 1980's era Stream Lights. I loved that and my Maglights

Nylon baton holster
@@2KCamaroZ28SS thanks man I'll give that one a try
I am still using my Streamlight 20XP. Good Video..... Stay safe
Excellent review . Well done

Mmm nice looking torch, but would love to see you do a comparison between the 8960 and the 3 D Cell LED Maglite.

Can you show us more report writing. How you write your report? Your whole structure please .
In 10 years of LEO work I have never seen any officers in my area use this. Looks interesting. I may need to git one if my Strion goes out.
Are there any flashlights that are just as bright and good quality like this that are made out of metal?
Great video! 6-year-old me and 46 year-old me are in agreement: awesome!

with a light this big and with that much real estate, you'd figure they would print the UI instructions on the body somewhere.
I use to have the pelican 8060 it is a nice light
I could learn to like this one. How about accessories such as a traffic cone, Tommy? Great job!
The 7060 is nice too
Gotta go back further than that for old school.
I am stuck in the 90s it's going to be the maglite for me
You did a video about batons. And you had a mini wood baton. Who made it?
Have you Done the Olight warrior 3 2,300 Lumen tactical flashlight from Olight

You recommend this for a police Duty light?
So... if we loaded it with " rechargeable" Cs... that's good for cradle charging?
What about the pelican 7060?
Yoooooo I haven’t watched one of your videos in so long
The 7060 is nice to

I’ve seen online that 8060 is only 300 and some lumens and not 1,000 lumens
The best
