      when I did this in 2019 I knew every bloody song by heart, by your 50th -60th parade of the same thing you stand there as a soldier and hum along to every one, luckily they changed the songs up day to day.

    We saw this in early August of 2011 while standing up on the railing by Parliament. I like that you could follow them along the way to Parliament Hill. Its now 2020 in the heart of the pandemic and all has been suspended.

      It's the ceremonial guard. Made up of the Canadian Grenadiers and the Governor Generals foot guards. The two house hold regiments in Canada. They're reservists and mainly students.

    Just wondering... why di they call it "Changing the guard" when they are not actually Changing the Guard ?

    • @chriscrilly8807
      @chriscrilly8807 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Changing of the Guard refers to the alternating divisions (Guards' term for platoons) that stand sentry duty at Government House-residence of the Governor General. The ceremony on Parliament Hill is a grand scale ceremonial representation of this, modelled on the original ceremony carried out at Buckingham Palace. The Bands march off back to the Cartier Square drill hall. What this video doesn't show is the New Guard marching down to Byward Market to board buses to Government House where they will stand guard for the rest of the day. @@chriscrilly8807 - As a 36 year military veteran, I still say it is not a "changing" of the guards. It is a "Guards Parade". They do a great job, but they are not "changing" the guard. They are not "replacing" anyone. That's what I think, sorry.....
