With 2 friends I rented a Seaside Heights hotel room adjacent to hers so I could keep an protective eye on my sister. I remember watching news coverage of Tianamen Square in the kitchen of that hotel room. Everyone else headed out. I couldn't. I was so deeply moved by what I was seeing. I stayed. Hopeful, Horrified, Riveted - I watched. The Juxtaposition, in that moment, of my life contrasted w/ lives of those BRAVE, Chinese, HERO-kids --- affected me deeply & profoundly. I experienced a very different weekend than the many kids I was sharing that 3-day beach party with. All these many years later...I am right back in that moment as I watch this. I think of China today. Also today, I think of the U.S.A. Here in the U.S.A. - a political & social war is being waged by a Republican Party defined by the worst elements of our society, pushing an agenda of Authoritarianism & Hate. This is our moment to make certain that Tianamen Square isn't our own tomorrow. My sister (despite, sustaining a freak injury in the wee-hours of her last night of her prom weekend that required 15 stitches) had a great time. Sadly, my beloved sister has somehow & for a long time now allied herself w/ the Republican Party and has raised a 16 year old son whom is bigoted against P.O.C., any hint of LBGTQ, & anything that is NOT MAGA. Gore that bad isn't aired on TV. There's plenty of images of people run over by tanks and gored to death by Chinese military, this was literally a massacre. Some images are from newspapers in China at the time, that was when the Chinese people could actually criticize the government and when the narrative wasn't completely controlled by an authoritarian regime.

Is that what they're asking us to believe?). However, the intense images coupled with the sensationalist language of the journalist ("...that lasts as long as a nightmare", for instance, and he was pretty tame. Many journalists did much worse) are aimed at distracting the audience and leading them on. At this point the spectators are emotionally invested, they ask themselves no question, don't pay attention to the details, don't notice the disconnection between speech reporting the facts and the facts happening in front of their eyes, and so they ultimately drink the kool-aid that's being served to them. It will take generations for westerners like us to admit our media lied through its teeth on that day. Thankfully the truth is slowly coming out, and though our media are trying as hard as they can to keep the audience from realizing what THIS truly means - that is, the DEATH of western media's credibility - some journalists are slowly coming clean and trying to correct the record by making up excuses for the gigantic dishonesty portrayed right here, in this video and in many more. Despite this correction however, since people are generally unwilling to admit that they've bought into a false narrative, they'll probably live their whole life thinking that there was a massacre in Tiananmen square, when there really wasn't. Over time, truth will prevail, there's no question about it. Gore that bad isn't aired on TV. There's plenty of images of people run over by tanks and gored to death by Chinese military, this was literally a massacre. Some images are from newspapers in China at the time, that was when the Chinese people could actually criticize the government and when the narrative wasn't completely controlled by an authoritarian regime.
Give them a couple of generations. They can't possibly conceive having been conned to this extent.

However, in this video he (who could be the voice speaking if not the correspondant?) says "And then it begins: powerful bursts of automatic weapons, raging gunfire for a minute and a half that lasts as long as a nightmare. And we see no more."
In the meantime, the images show protesters attacking the army with stones, you can hear no trace of these "powerful bursts of automatic weapons" (there is gunfire, but it's sporadic, no traces of "powerful bursts" of anything) and can see nobody "dragging out" the crew (had it been true, it'd have happened right at the most crucial moment: how convenient. According to their version, the army was shooting everyone down, people were running for dear life, but in the midst of all this chaos some soldiers made a priority of targeting journalists with cameras? Is that what they're asking us to believe?).
However, the intense images coupled with the sensationalist language of the journalist ("...that lasts as long as a nightmare", for instance, and he was pretty tame. Many journalists did much worse) are aimed at distracting the audience and leading them on. At this point the spectators are emotionally invested, they ask themselves no question, don't pay attention to the details, don't notice the disconnection between speech reporting the facts and the facts happening in front of their eyes, and so they ultimately drink the kool-aid that's being served to them.
It will take generations for westerners like us to admit our media lied through its teeth on that day. Thankfully the truth is slowly coming out, and though our media are trying as hard as they can to keep the audience from realizing what THIS truly means - that is, the DEATH of western media's credibility - some journalists are slowly coming clean and trying to correct the record by making up excuses for the gigantic dishonesty portrayed right here, in this video and in many more.
Despite this correction however, since people are generally unwilling to admit that they've bought into a false narrative, they'll probably live their whole life thinking that there was a massacre in Tiananmen square, when there really wasn't.
Over time, truth will prevail, there's no question about it. The problem for us in the west is that once it inevitably does, the fact that we've been fighting so hard against it for DECADES will mean that western media won't come out of this looking good.
And neither will we.
The repeated usage of the "Tiananmen square massacre" misnomer was a mistake the magnitude of which was rarely seen in the history of mass media.
