      They were 1 point above the relegation zone and didn't score a goal in 2017 before his sacking ffs.
      If Leicester were mid-table, then it would have been respectable but facing a relegation battle while ALSO being the defending champions of the Premier League, is beyond humiliating.

      Moyes was left with an old and past it team. His record was the same as van gaals and mourinhos first season if I recall. He was given an impossible task in his first year. It was ridiculous that he be sacked so soon. He built numerous good teams over a decade at Everton and lost a cup final to an Atletico that was on its way to a European final. It was quite unfair.

    • @ctr1502

      Nah. Ferguson left moyes with a shit tonne of work to do. I remember the season. Oh, and an aging evra and Rafael/ fabio nonsense to deal with.

    ... "Half a dozen unfairly sacked Man City managers"... Well - Pellegrini left by mutual consent for one (and finished 4th in his final season...) Mark Hughes had us sat just above mid table when he was finally sacked... Mancini and arguably Sven are the only harsh dismissals I can recall :')

    • @leopold7562
      @leopold7562 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree. It's a bit of a cheek to say City are good at sacking managers when they have just four managers in the last ten years - that's as many as Fulham had in their last PL season! I'd say Sven's sacking was harsher than Mancini's. He was sacked because City fell away in the latter half of the season thanks to Thaksin Shinawatra's inability to provide money for the reinforcements that Sven requested and, in the last game of the season, the players went on that now infamous go-slow against Middlesborough as a protest at his sacking. By contrast, Mancini's release was seen almost as a relief to the players.

  • @thecristianrozas1541
    @thecristianrozas1541 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    You should put Pellegrini on the video too but I guess it was just one trainer per team. He won the premier league in his first season and brought Man City to UCL semifinals for the first time ever. Then Mansour brought Guardiola and there you have the results. Pellegrini did more with less than Guardiola.

    IMO:
    Man City - Manuel Pellegrini (EDIT: Realized he wasn't sacked, his contract ran out, my bad)
    Led the club to 3 trophies in 3 years including a league and cup double in his first season, and led them to the Champions League semi-finals when they'd never before passed the round of 16. They were an own goal away from getting to extra time and *potentially* knocking out Real Madrid. Despite all this the City ownership announced he was being replaced in the middle of his last season, extremely unprofessional and disrespectful towards a manager who'd brought the club a lot of success.
    Man United - Van Gaal
    For me this is a no-brainer. While replacing him with Mourinho was obviously the right decision, Van Gaal still brought some success to the club - winning their first FA Cup in 12 years and being a big part of the emergence of several young players, including Rashford and Lingard. Sacking him was not harsh, but it was harsher than sacking Moyes, who'd broken several records for all the wrong reasons in his 8 months in charge.

      Pellegrini's contract hadn't expired, it was extended by 12 months as the club were hedging their bets on Guardiola taking a year out of management to recharge his batteries. He knew that this was the plan and was happy with it, even announcing it himself rather than leaving it to the club. I suppose it was a bit harsh on him to have him play caretaker, even if it never actually happened, but full credit to him for handling it like a man.

    From the two United sackings I'd say Van Gaal was the harsher one, Moyes was clueless, he was officially announced in April, but spent the entire window trying to sign players that were never gonna be sold by their clubs. and then panic bought Felliani, a attacking Midfielder who couldn't tackle he thought was the ideal person to fill in as a defensive midfielder.
    Van Gaal, got sacked a day after winning the FA Cup, yeah he bored us all to tears, but atleast he came with a pedigree, yeah he also finished outside the top four but only on goal difference, (and what a goal difference, just 14, the same as they are sitting on right now after five games.) I'd say deserved the sack but from the two his was the harsher sacking.

  • @Walkerman404

    Sacking Di Matteo was harsh but in hindsight it worked. Hodgson did a great job it was just a shame England came calling. Had they got Hodgson instead of Pardew this season to replace Pulis they'd have stayed up quite comfortably.

    Liverpool weren’t harsh at all though because the style of football was getting on people’s nerves. Klopp is a better manager

    Mark McGhee is genuinely one of the worst managers I've ever seen its Motherwell v Celtic at Celtic park... Ainsworth a winger on the bench.. he brings on a centerback to put on at left wing instead.. and he almost got us relegated.. bad tactics
