The reason this is creating moisture is because your vents (the little brown plugs - 3 each) are plugged up or pushed too far in. Pull them out, clean them and just put them in. They are vents for the lights as they heat up and cool down with humidity.
Dr Jackson is correct, these headlights need to breathe and sealing them completely is a bad idea. Mopar TSB 08-086-13 talks about headlamp fogging occurring normally from time to time. Excess water build up is indicative of a lens seal failure.
The only thing he was right about was the gasket that goes on the back of the headlight other than that the brown caps are the vents to keep the unit breathing. Sometimes due to time and weather condition the little brown caps start rattling around and closing off the vent. You can use a very small dab of super glue or gorilla glue to keep the Caps from rattling loose again.
Yes these people are correct, the lights need to breathe . Do not seal them so they can’t breath . There are little plugs that are often pushed in to tight so the light can’t breath there for you get condensation.
Thanks so much! 2018 Ram 1500. Same issue, same light. Threw up a Hail Mary before buying a new assembly & came across your video & you saved me not only a lot of money but a lot of of time AND made me look cool in front of the wife for “DIY” approach. So thank you for figuring that out! Definitely a new subscriber!
Nice video. On a RAM 3500 it is possible to the lower bolt without removing the grill. When replacing the lower bolt I taped it to the socket so it stayed using blue painters tape. Also there are 3 light brown colored caps that vent the headlight assembly. It’s a good idea to pop them off and check the black insert to be certain they are not clogged.
Thank you so much for the video but here in the states it's freaking cold to deal with this shit waiting on warmer temperatures thanks again will save this video when its time to do it.
I just wanna say thank you very f…g much!!! My ram looks cool now 😢. The people at the dealership didn’t want to help. Oh but to buy the car from them they offered everything but now they don’t even answer. You’re awesome bro, thanks again 🙏🏼
Hey Cory and Marcie! Geez, nothing like dismantling half of the front end on your truck to fix the condensation problem! I’m seeing on TH-cam that the Promaster chassis [that so many Class B manufacturers use] have the same problem…guess what!…yup, I’ll be buying a Class B (hopefully soon) built on the Promaster chassis as well. Must’ve been a Dodge architect who had a bad day with a hangover when he drew up the plans! I just love having problems before I even obtain the ‘problem maker’! 😂😂😂. Good to see y’all again! Stay safe and happy travels! ~Jim~
You messed up when you sealed that vent with silicone. You should leave it open so that air can circulate to allow the moisture to escape 50 bucks says you have the same problem again next year.
Wow. This is a first. I have never seen anyone take off the entire grill facade instead of just using a long ratchet extension to reach the bottom bolt. I guess there's a long way to do it as well.
The reason it gets full of condensation is because there are o think 3 plugs on the back of yhe headlight. These are vents and for some reason the caps got pushed in too far and closes off vent not allowing cavity to breath. You have to pull these caps out so they are fully retracted but stiill in plug hole and you won't have any more problems 😊😊
I heard it was that the vents were pushed in too far...I don't think this is a permanent fix? There is a bulletin about this problem with these lights.
@@clammi My driver side headlight is doing the same thing...on the hunt for a fix myself haha. They don't make the ones I have for my 2015 anymore...new one has a black ring on it. $900/one. Ouch.
@@adamwarrick2970 I have a 2014 Ram Sport and my driver side projector housing has the same problem with the moisture in the housing. It seems to be an issue with the 4th Gen Rams. 😒 🤔
Your problem could've been the air vents were too tight. This is a common problem on these 4th gens. Always the driver side. Theres like 3-4 vents thats pushed in too tight at the back and needs to be pull out a bit for the headlight to breath.

Do you have to take the whole headlight out?
Unfortunately it’s way easier to access by taking out the entire light assembly.

I agree with you 100%.
The guy didn’t even fix the problem!

That’s awesome and glad I was a part of making you look cool. Thank you for watching, your comment and the super thanks 🙏
Thanks a lot for a great and fun explanation of how to get the lights out - what a hassle!
Thank you
Not need to remove the grill just a long extension, will do the trick, with you socket.
10mm w extension I know worked on the Passenger side instead of taking grill off. Hope it works for drivers side too

Thank you for watching and the information about the caps. So far so good. But if I have a problem again I will check the caps for sure. Thanks again
It literally takes a minute to pop the grill off....and the dust cover doesn't take much more time.
How detailed you demonstrateed it' was AWESOME❗👍👍
Thank you very much

Do they have vents I have a 2018 ram 1500 thanks for the
Great video, helped he out tremendously.
Wow. This is a first. I have never seen anyone take off the entire grill facade instead of just using a long ratchet extension to reach the bottom bolt. I guess there's a long way to do it as well.
I had to take the grill off mine to change a low beam bulb, because that bottom bolt was catching on something. Not Even a 20lb magnet could get it.

Yes I agree. I’ve heard a lot of them have the same problem
I had to replace mine. $900 later...truck is a cyborg...lol. Honestly, you can hardly tell unless you knew it...

Stupid plastic headlight pods are garbage. Bring back the old glass sealed beam. Not only do they not fog or scratch, they melt off snow and ice.
If you have black mold growing inside anyway of cleaning it out
So you never actually fixed the problem
Just dried them
Out
But u did not solve the issue😅
If I had to remove the whole headlights out like that, I rather replace it with a brand new one.
I was quoted $900 for the light plus 2 hrs install.. for that ill try my hair dryer😅
I'd rather get a whole new truck, lol
