I've always said this movie has no business being as good as it is, and after watching this, it had every reason in the world to be a colossal failure. Yet somehow, it turned out amazing.
Honestly he's going through every discarded script (even by talented people like the Star Trek: TNG guys) and they're bad or fucking something up. The final movie makes no obvious blunders, and in this genre of absolute lore trainwrecks, maybe that's something like genius? They're both in hell (sure!), Freddy is cunning enough to break out (that sounds like him,) Jason's actual physical body emerges from hell (best compromise if you care about continuity, even casually? Yes), etc.
nah, it's a crappy movie, I hated it even back then, it has some cool parts but dialogue was nonsensical for most part. Worst of all, it doesn't really feature Freddy vs Jason, you get like one or two big fights between them and that's about it. However, it sorta aged well a bit, it's lot more entertaining now, considering we've seen much, much worse. You know, for start, this movie actually has production values, it's not dude with camera asking his friends pretending to be zombies in his backyard.
I was in middle school when the rumors of a Freddy vs Jason movie first started. I was friggin 25 years old by the time the movie actually hit theaters. I always wondered why the hell did it take so long to make this movie into a reality.
I was at a Friday the 13th panel at San Diego Comic Con around 2004 and during the Q & A somebody asked Kane Hodder why he wasn't in Freddy vs Jason and he said he was replaced because the studio wanted Jason to have sympathetic eyes behind the mask which he thought was so stupid since Jason is a serial killer.
I get both sides though… well, ~I~ get why Jason could be sympathetic. I can’t speak for the reasons a studio would think he should be sympathetic… Freddy was a child murderer in life and a killer of upper-teens/20-somethings in death. Creep factor off the charts and no redeeming qualities; exactly what you’d want in an unrepentant villain Jason on the other hand was the victim of neglectful counselors and terrible malicious children/fellow campers Should they have known for sure that Jason couldn’t swim? Probably… Was it an intentional murder by the other campers? I still doubt it was intentional; the other kids might have assumed that the counselors would be quick to react and save Jason, making it a super cruel prank but nothing more… but things didn’t go that way; those other kids effectively murdered a disabled kid. So with Jason you have a child that was innocent of any wrongdoing, who is/was/always has been shown to love and listen to his mother (a giant mamma’s boy for better or worse) Even Pamela trying to prevent Camp Crystal Lake from reopening by killing counselors and making the site completely unusable due to its stigma could be seen as a noble cause fueled by grief and pain. She felt that reopening the camp grounds was a slap in the face to her dead son that diminished his memory ~and~ that by keeping it closed would prevent anything similar from happening to some other kid. I know that Jason has killed a *TON* of people, but among them are: 1) the girl that killed his mother, who was only thinking of her beloved son when ~she~ was the OG killer (avenged his slain mother) 2) camp counselors that more times than not are in the middle of doing similar things that ~his~ counselors were doing when he drowned (fooling around with each other, doing drugs or drinking) 3) a would-be rapist in part 8 who drugged a woman and was pinning her down Jason also has redeeming qualities that any mother would be proud of: 1) he’s saved a woman who was drugged against her will from getting raped in Part 8 by killing her assaulter so she could get away 2) he realized (maybe) that he was wrong to destroy the teens’ boombox in Part 8 and instead of killing them for getting mad at him, he chose to intimidate them so they’d step down, therefore de-escalating a situation that he himself initiated (that’s how I choose to see it anyway, hahaha) 3) he’s never hurt an animal that I can recall as he believes they are innocent creatures (according to Kane Hodder) Basically he’s a religious superhero that maybe goes just a *~smidge~* too far #OldTestament I know 100% that he isn’t, but it’s fun to spin him as such by cherry-picking his past actions against those that were misbehaving 😅😛😜 … he’s also killed a ton of innocent people and would-be good samaritans that were trying to protect those that he was tying to kill… Even in the final fight against Freddy, Jason inadvertently/unintentionally saves his “friends” by impaling Freddy with his own gloved hand. If Jason hadn’t acted when he did, those innocent teens would’ve been slashed to death by a machete-wielding maniac! 😲 Besides, it’s somewhat easy to avoid death at the hands of Jason… Ways to (usually/sometimes) survive Jason: • Don’t do drugs • Don’t drink alcohol • Don’t have premarital sex • Don’t be a camp counselor • Don’t resurrect him in the first place • Don’t desecrate his grave • Don’t try to stop him/get in his way • Don’t try to hurt an innocent person in front of him (would-be rapist in Part 8) Ways to (maybe?!?) survive Freddy: • Don’t sleep… ever… • Don’t invoke his name (gives him power)
I thought it was explained that, while Freddy was in hell… he was able to get into Jason’s dreams to revive him and compelled him to go to Springwood and kill… which would naturally cause the town to assume it was Freddy which would allow him to regain his strength from their fear!
Freddy's glove looked the coolest in this film. It had a weight to it that made it more threatening. It's actually a great weapon from a tactical standpoint, hard to knock out of the hand, great control (it being part of the body, basically an extension).
I hear you, but think about the driving force and results of initial impact when using most weapons. The only thing you’d be able to do with his glove is a slash, and probably not a deep one either. Depends on how strong the eyelets for the fingers are and it would help if there was a piece of reinforcement running across the palm.
It would have been nice to see an after math. But my conclusion is that Jason kept Freddie’s head in a new shrine as his greatest battle. When Freddy is narrating the story in the beginning he is just a head in Jason’s new shrine ....maybe back in hell. 😜
Not gonna lie...I dig the movie alot. my only complaint is they didn't get Kane Hodder to play Jason. That would have made my horror movie dreams come true.
@@williamthompson5504 blame the director he replaced Kane Hodder...with the actor who was in the Diner scene in part 8....who Jason tossed into the mirror. I hate that director. it would have been cool to see Kane Hodder as Jason vs Robert England as Freddy...................Kane Hodder I hear was disappointed he didn't get to play Jason in this movie.
Apparently they removed Kane Hodder as Jason cause they felt he had too much creative control playing the character and they wanted to get rid of that on purpose, the director felt he shouldn't listen to Jason tell him how to make his movie with the character
Freddy vs Jason is a fantastic crossover movie. The plot made perfect sense, the fight was awesome, the ending was perfect. Are there cheesy elements absolutely but find me one of either of these franchise movies that aren't a little cheesy.
The movie had no right being good in the first place. And then it went ahead and started punching well above its weight class. Such an unexpected gem of a crossover film
I just read "Slash of the Titans" by Dustin McNeill that discusses the history of this film. It includes interviews with the screenwriters discussing how they came to be involved and what their scripts involved. It's such a GREAT book. I'm happy you guys mention it in this video!
My favorite bit is when Freddy is in Jason's dreams and is about to drown him in the lake until pur heroine stops and he goes "YYYOOOOU!", then the whole movie goes red tinted and Freddy turns into this hellish goblin demon looking thing
Despite the flaws the movie has I still like it. I do wish they made “Freddy vs Jason vs Ash”. I really like that comic, but still that would’ve been cool. Hah.
I like the idea that Freddy was secretly the one who drowned Jason to cover up what he'd done to him. That Jason was Freddy's first victim. I like the idea that it connects the two, and it adds a new layer to the lore of both. Even adds something to the first Friday movie, as it turns out that it wasn't just careless counselors after all.
@@GlitchyHalo "what's in the movie" was NOT necessarily that he's only a murderer. "What's in the movie" is that his murder was the only thing they ever definitively DISCOVERED. There's absolutely nothing that says or even IMPLIES anything that would preclude him from doing all sorts of horrible things that people just weren't privy to, or that they simply never showed us.
@@michellea221 Wasn't Ken's fault. Director wanted him to move really slowly with sudden fast spikes. He thought it'd make him scarier. Should have been Kane though.
When this movie came out, I was 17 and it was great. I saw it twice in theaters and absolutely loved it each time. I wouldn't imagine it's aged well though, I remember the iffy CGI even back then. Still a fun ride.
There's many industry stories where the best script wasn't the one that made it to film, Freddy vs. Jason isn't one of those examples. A few issues aside it's the best rendition people could have hoped for.
I don't understand, what was so hard to make this film. The hard part should be getting the rights and that was already taken cared of at the point. Counting all the attempts, it took 16 years that New Line hired a bunch of dumbasses. Watch the films and you make a film with the two of them in one. It's not that difficult. It's a easy task and for some reason, this is the hardest task ever. (Even the 2003 movie.) And I don't know how it was so hard to make it happen.
As a child of the late 80's and 90's I grew up dreaming of this movie. My older brother and I went and saw it the day after it came out. Sadly nobody in my area was as excited to see this as we were. Literally nobody was there for this movie. The entire theater had me my brother in the dead center seats, and 2 other people sitting way up front that it no one else. The usher checked on us once he saw only 4 people and didn't bother coming back. We got so ripped while watching it was the best theater experience ever.
When I went to the cinema to watch Freddy's dead... I went alone and, I was the only person in the cinema! I'm surprised they didn't just give me my money back and cancel the showing! The usher came in 2 or 3 times during the film... just to check i was OK... lol 😆 🤣 😂 it was a pretty weird feeling having the entire cinema to myself but, it did mean I could sit in the V.I.P seats which I hadn't paid for.
Jason X gets too much hate. It's a straight up dark comedy and it has some genuinely hilarious laughs in it. The holodeck campers remain one of my favorite movie gags ever.
That's the problem with Jason X and Freddy vs Jason. They're dark comedies and that's not what either franchise was before... Jason X is still better than Freddy vs Jason though. That's the worst piece of cinematic shit ever created.
I like to think in the holodeck camper scene, Jason knows that they're fake he just knows he won't get a second opportunity to have fun like that and goes full ham. Probably not, but it still kills me to think what was going through his head "no, you know what? You deserve this Jason. You deserve to be spoiled once in a while" turns around and starts slamming them into trees
The conflict between Jason and Freddy is pretty simple, I think it was the best way of pitting them against each other. The problem of the film is the characters revolving these icons, they’re so dull.
I don't know if they should even bother with "victim" characters in a movie like this. I mean they definitely need some kills, but maybe those are just random people in the background, not important characters. The conflict is villain vs. villain, not good vs. evil.
@@anonamatron Maybe would have been better treating the two killers like a force of nature and police are more interested in getting innocents out of the way. Should have focused on a small town of police rather than the usual teenagers getting massacred. Not sure. An entire movie focused on two villains as the main plot is always going to have trouble making the other characters matter. Still loved this movie
i view these movies the way i view godzilla films we are here for the monsters what happens with the humans is just to move the plot along nothing more. i really don't think the main girl in this movie is any worse than like nancy or alice or tommy or someone. she serves her role
I pretty much had the same idea of Jason only being "Scared" of water due to Freddy finding out the last time he was scared (When he drowned) in my video of the film. Hell, it was the only time you can use a clip from the shitty 2003 "Daredevil" film to reference something and it fits. "How do you kill a man with no fear?" "By putting the fear in him."
I always saw Jason's fear being the death of his mother since that was what caused him to kill people to begin with. Freddy could've done what Ginny did in part 2 by disguising himself as Pamela and use Jason's machete and kill the way his mom died.
I was 7 years old when this movie came out and my family took me to see it, probably hoping I wouldn’t pay attention. I’ll always remember that scene where Jason is holding Freddy’s severed head fondly 😂
I saw this film in the theatres on a gel tab. Needless to say... It was "trippy". I'd been anticipating this rivalry since I was a kid. I swear to God, even some of actors were smiling during the "scary" scenes. It was tripping me out so bad that at one point I literally looked over at my buddy asked - "Is it me or is everyone in the cast treating this like it's a joke?" Lol!
I remember seeing jason goes to hell and the freddys claw popping up and losing my shit. Then nothing happened for a long time and I gave up on the VS movie ever happening. I'm happy to say when I finally went to the theaters to see it I was not disappointed. I did not need deep human characters all I came for in the end was freddy VS jason and this movie delivered. That final battle was just beautiful and should be the benchmark for any horror vs fight. By the way great video. It was interesting to hear what were some of the scripts like and i'm fine with some of them not becoming a thing.
My view on this was I was born in 1993 and as a kid like many horror fans I remember looking at the covers of horror movies and even remember getting scared just at the thought of how "scary" or "violent" they would be, then later in my life about 2005-2006 I started buying the horror DVDs and watching the movies thinking they were nowhere near as scary as what I imagined they would be but the two movies that stick out to me that really make me think of the way I imagined horror movies growing up it would be the original Texas chainsaw massacre and this movie. It's great!
I'm glad we got the script we did. Clean and simple. Freddy had a legit reason for bringing Jason back. He got jealous and needed to get ride of someone that was in his way and no longer useful.
11:09 Honestly that script by Mark Protosevich wasn't dull. Either you never read the script or just the summary from the Slash of the Titans book. The college kills was only ONE kill and it was in the woods near the college building. The rest of the script actually focused on a girl suffering repressed memories from Freddy and Jason and was more psychological and Jason is more a demon spirit like Never Hike Alone meets Savini Jason. It was Honestly better than what we got because the characters were actually in depth and weren't idiotic stereotypes. The reason why it was scrap was because Cunningham wanted Jason X to be a franchise. Not because it was a dull script. Oh well. Nice video though.
@@ryanburrell4999 I’ve gotta disagree with you on that 1 man... Pinhead puts Leatherface to shame. The first 2 Hellraiser films, are way better, and much more imaginative & clever, than any of the Texas Chainsaw films.
My Big 4 would probably have to be: Freddy, Jason, Pinhead, & Ash (If it was a Vs film, than: Ash Vs Freddy, Jason & Pinhead)... Some of my honourable mentions, would be: Captain Spaulding, Chucky, Michael Myers, Candyman, Jack Torrence, Hannibal Lector, BOB (from Twin Peaks), & Pennywise.
@@emartin86 I can certainly see where you’re coming from with replacing Latherface with Pinhead, I think I’m partial to leatherface because he was the “first horror icon” I guess you could say. And being a huge Halloween fan I’ll always have Michael on my Mount Rushmore. I’ve never really thought about having Ash come up in that conversation so that makes me realize how underrated of a character he is and how underrated Bruce Campbell is as an actor. And great honorable mentions...as long as it’s Tim Currys pennywise lol
i always wished we got to see more of hell in any of these movies from jason goes to hell to this movie its only on screen for a few seconds each.would making a set of lava rocks and fire and maybe a few demons or something really have been that hard to pull off?i can think of plenty of cost effective ways to pull it off if i was the director, they did a whole jason movie in space for petes sake how much harder could hell in one scene have been
That's your concern? I love how everyone flies in the air like the world is made of a giant trampoline. When Jason punched Freddy, it should've gone through his chest like part 6 or his head like part 8's boxing scene. But nope. The movie inhabits a cartoony world. How is the older films from the 80s more realistic than the more modern one?
I remember watching it in theaters and everyone yelling and applauding when freddy finally met jason in the burning cabin. It was like we where watching a real fight in a ring lol.
What ruined this movie was simply the poor casting. No obviously not Robert Englund or Kirk not gonna try his last name, although I still would've liked Kane Hodder to have played Jason, no the teenager kids cast. Especially the lead heroine. She was the absolute worst. As well as history has shown us time and time again that anytime a musician makes their way into a horror movie, I turn to Halloween and Busta Rhymes for this example, something stinky is gonna make its way to the box office. Everything that had to do with Jason and Freddy in regards to the story I think was great, but those garbage acting kids, Yeah they all sucked IMO, are what ruined the movie. That's what was lacking in this movie, cause if you look back on the Friday the 13th and NOES movies, the teens gave just as good and memorable acting as the slashers themselves.
Cheech and Chong meets Jason lmao that would have been a dream matchup come true hahaha would have loved to of seen that cross over happen... a lot of pot smoking topless chicks and Jason mayhem can't go wrong lol
not jason or freddy related but i also heard they asked kevin smith to do a Jay and Silent Bob meet Pinhead movie which would totally have had a similar vibe
This is an excellent movie. It would be so easy to mess this up but they gave it the perfect amount of camp and horror. It didn't hurt either of the franchises and actually gave them a nice boost in relevancy. Much better then some of the sequels of the individual franchises that were coming out around the time. Love this movie and both characters.
what I heard is that there was about 10 other scripts before this one and I'm glad the final one is the one we have nightmare 13 is one of the most heard ones
Hodder talks a lot about the decisions and what happened with him being replaced in his documentary. As for Freddy vs Jason. I know a lot of people that don't like it but i still love it. When I saw the wink I hoped for a sequel.
A younger me was super hyped for this movie it was like a landmark of my life! I can ignore the ridiculous exposition dumps and terrible characters if I get to see my two favorite horror icons duke it out.
In the movie "National Lampoons Senior Vacation" there's a scene where two of the characters are watching a horror movie and one says to the other something like "what if Jason had nightmares and what if Freddy could invade his nightmares" and then some years later we got Freddy vs Jason. Mad.
Fun fact: Katherine was supposed to be casted for Lori but it was the director who wanted somebody else as Lori. Monica Keena said the script was a peice if s*it and only did just for the money and just to get her name out there. And man does it show.
Freddy vs Jason wasn't horrible but I think they could have done Jason better. The whole Frankenstein way of Jason just didn't work for me. Kane hodders version or CJ Grahams version would have made it better. Overall the movie did work and I'd love to see another one
Big oversight however, Freddy was always meant to win. Extra scenes with Ritter were shot taking over the part. But when tested, everyone hated it. Ive read the decision was ultimately not to piss off either fanbase. Great video guys
The acting and the story at times was so horrible but the fight between those two ghouls is still very much worth it. To this day I can still watch that movie from start to finish.
Freddy vs Jason and Queen of the Damned are by far my two favorite movie soundtracks. Was Freddy vs Jason fantastic? No. But was it a fun ride and got the job done? Yes. Along with the previously mentioned killer soundtrack which introduced me to some of my now favorite bands of all time. It's a win from me.
Hell yeah especially at the end where ill ninos song would play at the credits man ill ninos is a badass band the og vocals has a new band it's called lions at the gate
I think you and I watched different movies, man. I didn't think the director respected either franchise at all. It didn't seem like he knew anything about either one. I think it's the worst movie ever made. I watched it at a midnight showing opening night and I left the cinema with literal tears in my eyes because I was so disgusted with it. I had been waiting for that movie to happen for a full decade and it was just blah. The story was lack luster, if felt like a parody of a Freddy vs Jason movie and the acting was high school drama class level. Robert Englund wasn't even trying, and they royally screwed Kane Hodder. If I could collect every copy of that movie and burn them all, I would.
@@heilong79 I can agree with that. I also enjoyed Nightmare 4 quite a bit. I like Jackie Earl Haley's take on Freddy in the remake. He was creepy, kind of perverted, not a comedian and he looked like a real burn victim. I didn't care for the movie as a whole though. My favorite Friday The 13th is Final Chapter, 6 and I also really enjoyed the 2009 reboot. Derek Mears as Jason in the reboot reminded a lot of CJ Graham in part 6. I don't like a lot of cheese and humor in my horror.
"Took elements from the best of each franchise." Maybe for Freddy but not for Jason. Afraid of water? No Kane? Was murdered by kids rather than a accident? Dresses like a hobo instead of a walking skeleton? Plamela how has white hair and a red sweater? Jason has long hair and both eyes? No axe wound? Crystal Lake close to Springwood? Is a good guy who protects teenagers? Runs for a brief moment when crashing Freddy in the windows? Seriously the definition of not a fan who wrote that movie.
love F v J but goddamn - freddie and Jason fighting in a wrestling ring in hell surrounded by the worst people to ever walk the earth sounds incredible
This movie just feels like its exactly what its supposed to be. Its very cheesy and dumb but this is the Freddy vs Jason I want to see fight, the wise-cracking Freddy and the unkillable Jason. Love this movie. The ending I saw that i would have loved is at the end it cuts back to Jason and Freddy continuing their fight in hell but a bunch of chains flying in to restrain them, then out of the shadows Pinhead comes in and says "Now gentlemen, what seems to be the problem?" Silly, but I would have jumped out of my seat, honestly.
I know it's easy to arm chair QB. All this crazy backstory script ideas.. WTF? Couldn't they be like... Krueger wiped out his Springwood, and has been going around to all Elm Streets around the USA?... And then one day, finds his way the ELM street near Crytal Lake, and realizes Jason is a thing? Freddy fascinated, amused, and horrified by the unkillable Jason... Go off to play the ultimate game of slasher, "who's the best killer?"
The 2:25 mark: a remark made about Jason Goes to Hell "Jason shows supernatural abilities that had never been hinted at before" That is a goddamn lie........Roy the Paramedic Roy, when he was dressed as Jason, was literally busting through walls. He had super strength. He had all of Jason Voorhees' attributes. So, I think its safe to assume that Roy the Paramedic from A New Beginning was possessed by Jason
It's just a good time! People try to tell me that it's the worst of either series and I'm over here like: what!?! Have you watched both series recently?!
I was so hyped for this movie and even though I was satisfied, I expected more.i wouldn't mind a reboot or a different battle like mike Myers and jason...freddy vs hellraiser..I would love to see that one

I just watched Jason Goes to Hell a few days ago and kept thinking I really don't remember this movie being this ridiculously bad, but the last time I saw it was probably when it came out and through child eyes. Also watched Jason X recently, but I always remember that being terrible, I actually thought it was straight to video, or the cheap look made me assume it was.
The victims in this flick play there parts you can see a clear line in style and acting between the friday victims and the nightmare victims the two monsters meeting was cool but i had no idea how cool the stereotypical victim avatars of each franchise meeting would be... 'Oh yeah? yall got jason huh? Pissed off unkillable hulk with a machete? How sweet... Our guy on elm street over here SLOWLY turned my girl into a cockroach and crushed her"
I fucking loved this movie and still do. After hearing some of the ridiculously stupid ideas they had for a FvJ movie, I’m so glad this was the one that was made.

I can’t speak for the reasons a studio would think he should be sympathetic…
Freddy was a child murderer in life and a killer of upper-teens/20-somethings in death. Creep factor off the charts and no redeeming qualities; exactly what you’d want in an unrepentant villain
Jason on the other hand was the victim of neglectful counselors and terrible malicious children/fellow campers
Should they have known for sure that Jason couldn’t swim? Probably…
Was it an intentional murder by the other campers? I still doubt it was intentional; the other kids might have assumed that the counselors would be quick to react and save Jason, making it a super cruel prank but nothing more… but things didn’t go that way; those other kids effectively murdered a disabled kid.
So with Jason you have a child that was innocent of any wrongdoing, who is/was/always has been shown to love and listen to his mother (a giant mamma’s boy for better or worse)
Even Pamela trying to prevent Camp Crystal Lake from reopening by killing counselors and making the site completely unusable due to its stigma could be seen as a noble cause fueled by grief and pain.
She felt that reopening the camp grounds was a slap in the face to her dead son that diminished his memory ~and~ that by keeping it closed would prevent anything similar from happening to some other kid.
I know that Jason has killed a *TON* of people, but among them are:
1) the girl that killed his mother, who was only thinking of her beloved son when ~she~ was the OG killer (avenged his slain mother)
2) camp counselors that more times than not are in the middle of doing similar things that ~his~ counselors were doing when he drowned (fooling around with each other, doing drugs or drinking)
3) a would-be rapist in part 8 who drugged a woman and was pinning her down
Jason also has redeeming qualities that any mother would be proud of:
1) he’s saved a woman who was drugged against her will from getting raped in Part 8 by killing her assaulter so she could get away
2) he realized (maybe) that he was wrong to destroy the teens’ boombox in Part 8 and instead of killing them for getting mad at him, he chose to intimidate them so they’d step down, therefore de-escalating a situation that he himself initiated (that’s how I choose to see it anyway, hahaha)
3) he’s never hurt an animal that I can recall as he believes they are innocent creatures (according to Kane Hodder)
Basically he’s a religious superhero that maybe goes just a *~smidge~* too far #OldTestament
I know 100% that he isn’t, but it’s fun to spin him as such by cherry-picking his past actions against those that were misbehaving 😅😛😜 … he’s also killed a ton of innocent people and would-be good samaritans that were trying to protect those that he was tying to kill…
Even in the final fight against Freddy, Jason inadvertently/unintentionally saves his “friends” by impaling Freddy with his own gloved hand. If Jason hadn’t acted when he did, those innocent teens would’ve been slashed to death by a machete-wielding maniac! 😲
Besides, it’s somewhat easy to avoid death at the hands of Jason…
Ways to (usually/sometimes) survive Jason:
• Don’t do drugs
• Don’t drink alcohol
• Don’t have premarital sex
• Don’t be a camp counselor
• Don’t resurrect him in the first place
• Don’t desecrate his grave
• Don’t try to stop him/get in his way
• Don’t try to hurt an innocent person in front of him (would-be rapist in Part 8)
Ways to (maybe?!?) survive Freddy:
• Don’t sleep… ever…
• Don’t invoke his name (gives him power)
Thank you for that clarification. I've wondered about that for years.
I love the fact that there is never an explanation for how jason walked from crystal lake in Jersey to Ohio to kill some teens.
I thought it was explained that, while Freddy was in hell… he was able to get into Jason’s dreams to revive him and compelled him to go to Springwood and kill… which would naturally cause the town to assume it was Freddy which would allow him to regain his strength from their fear!
He hitch hiked
LMAO😂
Jason can teleport
The Jason teleport
Like Sunset Boulevard, narrated by a dead man?
he put freddys head next to his momma head 😂😂 (4 real read the comic of the second fight)
Not gonna lie...I dig the movie alot. my only complaint is they didn't get Kane Hodder to play Jason. That would have made my horror movie dreams come true.
TRUE !
Kane should have been there. He is Jason!
I always wondered why he looked different in that scene. Why was that? Does anybody know?
@@Anw4rr10r he was taking on one of his devilish forms in his dream world she took him to one if his highest levels of pisstivity lol
Despite the flaws the movie has I still like it. I do wish they made “Freddy vs Jason vs Ash”. I really like that comic, but still that would’ve been cool. Hah.
Too bad it likely won’t happen since Bruce Campbell has retired Ash
Alyssa Black yea I know. When the show was done, he was done. Which I kinda respect but also am saddened by.
Only hope would be for it to be animated
@@LucyLioness100 I think if it becomes a serious thing Bruce would return. We've seen tons of horror icons return when they said they wouldn't.
That comic was really good. Especially with Freddy going after the Necronomicon.
Actually this movie wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. And the fight scene at the end reminded me a lot of Frankenstein meets The Wolfman.
It’s not that bad but if Kane Hodder played Jason I’ll probably like it better
I'm so tired of these Versus things ending up in a water and calling it a tie. Someone should win.
It's a fun movie.
Agree
Yeah um idk about Jason getting fucked by Freddy is a good idea for both characters
I remember the whole theater laughing our asses off when Jason throws Kelly Rowland into the tree 😂🤣
Should have been Kane Hodder as Jason
I know right he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than kirizinger whos acting was pretty stiff

@@toad6565 Lol you're not wrong.
What I was most surprised was the fight choreography. Freddy really busting out his martial arts was something I never thought I needed.
@@ojmcclanahan689 Up high 👏
@@brandonspain12345 Doubles, brother! 🙌
I remember reading they didn't hire Kane Hodder because of the size difference between the two, Englund just looked too small against him.
This movie was awesome. It had scary and funny scenes, the fight was pretty cool. I still watch it every now and then
The conflict between Jason and Freddy is pretty simple, I think it was the best way of pitting them against each other.
"Cramp Crystal Lake" seems fitting lol. Just giving you crap bro, that's a tongue twister lol. Love the videos.
Movie is perfect in every way. Did more justice for Jason than all his prior movies
When I saw it, I didn't expect a good story. I wanted to see Freddy fight Jason and that's what I got. Love it
I remember seeing jason goes to hell and the freddys claw popping up and losing my shit.
Seeing this movie in theaters was some of the most fun I've ever had at the movies.
The intro with Freddy is incredible
My only complaint with this movie is the weird thing when they hit eachother and fly 100 feet away
It's great!
Same, I was born in 1993 as well but sadly wasn’t allowed to go see this in the theaters
I heard pinhead was gonna end the movie with all three in hell asking,"So boys, what seems to be the problem?".
I would have liked to see.
Time to Play.
Or "I have such sights to show you"
Clive wouldn't have let that happen.
Except Jason isn't a demon spirit. Also Freddy vs Jason was good.
Thank you Brandon, that movie would've been much better, IMO
Imagine an avengers like slasher movie with the big 4 michael jason leatherface and pinhead or at least a michael vs jason movie
The big 4 are - Michael, Jason, Leatherface, and Freddy. Not pinhead.
@@ryanburrell4999
Pinhead vs Freddy would be legit. No other Cenobites though.
That boxing match in hell sounds pretty badass.
i always wished we got to see more of hell in any of these movies from jason goes to hell to this movie its only on screen for a few seconds each.would making a set of lava rocks and fire and maybe a few demons or something really have been that hard to pull off?i can think of plenty of cost effective ways to pull it off if i was the director, they did a whole jason movie in space for petes sake how much harder could hell in one scene have been

One of the best soundtracks of any movie, ever! I still play the soundtrack to this day!
Right!?! So good! It's how I discovered from autumn to ashes!
Took them 20 years to put this movie on the big screen.
I remember watching it in theaters and everyone yelling and applauding when freddy finally met jason in the burning cabin. It was like we where watching a real fight in a ring lol.
My biggest gripe, they should of used Kane Hodder !
It wouldn't make sense that freddy would be a camp counselor since both freddy and Jason were born in the 40s freddy in 42 and Jason in 46
What ruined this movie was simply the poor casting.
This movie was my introduction to the characters and many other horror movies fallowed. I’ll always have a spot in my heart for this movie.
Always wanted a poster of freddy jumping out of the water on the dock with the red contrast man that's a good looking shot !😎✌️great channel my dude
This is an excellent movie. It would be so easy to mess this up but they gave it the perfect amount of camp and horror. It didn't hurt either of the franchises and actually gave them a nice boost in relevancy. Much better then some of the sequels of the individual franchises that were coming out around the time. Love this movie and both characters.
what I heard is that there was about 10 other scripts before this one and I'm glad the final one is the one we have
nightmare 13 is one of the most heard ones
Best freddy quote ever happened in this movie..."WHY WONT YOU DIE!"
Hodder talks a lot about the decisions and what happened with him being replaced in his documentary. As for Freddy vs Jason. I know a lot of people that don't like it but i still love it. When I saw the wink I hoped for a sequel.
Great commentary and video 👍👍
A younger me was super hyped for this movie it was like a landmark of my life! I can ignore the ridiculous exposition dumps and terrible characters if I get to see my two favorite horror icons duke it out.
In the movie "National Lampoons Senior Vacation" there's a scene where two of the characters are watching a horror movie and one says to the other something like "what if Jason had nightmares and what if Freddy could invade his nightmares" and then some years later we got Freddy vs Jason. Mad.
I felt one big problem was having Monica Keena as the lead.Katherine Isabelle would've been better. She just fell flat.
There was nothin flat about monica keena in the movie
@Brandon Brooks
Well she's a putz,Isabelle's a better actress.
Fun fact: Katherine was supposed to be casted for Lori but it was the director who wanted somebody else as Lori. Monica Keena said the script was a peice if s*it and only did just for the money and just to get her name out there. And man does it show.
@@brandonspain12345 She's lousy anyway.
At the end Jason won tho, walked out with Freddy's head. I guess Freddy could bite him.
The acting and the story at times was so horrible but the fight between those two ghouls is still very much worth it. To this day I can still watch that movie from start to finish.
Freddy vs Jason is one my favorite action/horror movies it’s truly a classic
Jason has been played by a lot of people, Kerzinger is actually my fav cause of this movie!
You’re not just gonna fly past that part 9:21 😭😭
Freddy vs Jason was great and took elements from the best of each franchise so I loved the film. Also all these pitches for a crossover sound awful.
@@ojmcclanahan689 wow, strong opinion but as you are entitled to it, for me Nightmare 1 and 3 were the best and Friday the 13th 6 and 7.
"Took elements from the best of each franchise."
Maybe for Freddy but not for Jason.

The 2:25 mark: a remark made about Jason Goes to Hell "Jason shows supernatural abilities that had never been hinted at before" That is a goddamn lie........Roy the Paramedic
Roy, when he was dressed as Jason, was literally busting through walls. He had super strength. He had all of Jason Voorhees' attributes. So, I think its safe to assume that Roy the Paramedic from A New Beginning was possessed by Jason
