Love all the footage of Mach ll and Mach lll that is on TH-cam. Despite whatever acrimony existed in the band, these guys looked like they were having a blast ! Every clip I watch they just rip it up, so good.......
Deep Purple is one of the greatest bands of all time. It's really sad that most people only know them for stuff like "Smoke On The Water" and "Woman From Tokyo". Those are good songs, but it's the stuff you don't hear on the radio that's the best!! (you might hear this song on the radio once in a great while, but you know what I mean)
Blues from Rock or Rock from Blues? It don't matter. This came from the heart. See the tubes in the back of the hammond? Love the tambourine. Richie Blackmore is in complete control of that Fender! Wow - thanks for this upload. What a killer version of a classic tune. Harp solo ain't bad either!
Absolutely the essence of Deep Purple is shown here. No one could match the interplay within this band in 1972. Ritchie plays so clean and clear and both he and Lord were masters of tone and timing!
This specific guitar solo is Richie Blackmore's finest hour......He was the best in the world at this point. Ian Paice's drumming collaborated with Blackmore's guitar has chemistry that I don't think I've heard before in music (Hard Rock especially). Truly incredible.
marvelous, gorgeous, beautiful, brilliant.. can't you feel the chemistry between them?John.. incredibly virtuoso,Richie..master of the guitar.. and when you think this is maximum of beauty -Ian Gillan is coming!I know that this will never born again.Thank you so much for this video!
Absolutly fantastic, i just love, so much this old material! Paice flawless, Ritchie unbelieveble, Gillan just awesome, Glover bluesy, Lord solid as allways..
Brings back some good memories. A 4' bong fashioned out of bamboo, first hit a guaranteed choker and gagger, after that, smooth elation. Thank You Deep Purple for setting the mood back then into now.
I've been singing this song in my head over the past few days and it won't leave, even if I watch this video or listen to the studio recording. Of all songs to get stuck with, I really don't mind this one at all :)
so far there are 120 people who no nothing about Rock & Roll. Bands like Metalica are often great bands but they are not even in the same league as Deep Purple. Purple and Zeplin are the God Fathers of heavy Rock/Metal. If you like guitar, bass, vocals, and key board, how can you not appreciate this ground breaking band ?
How lucky was I? I grew up on this stuff...this was the year I graduated high school...and all the music before and after this...blessing....Deep Purple ALWAYS knew how to rock it!!!!!!
WHAT A TEAM! The drumming's olympic... The vocals give me shivers...The guitarists are just gods! And the keyboards... they just don't let bands like this happen anymore. So sad for the kids today - at least they have TH-cam. Thanks to the themule66 for sharing!!!!
You got that right! throw on some of those old fashioned head phones and we we're in hog heaven. I remember listening to "Deep Purple In Rock" over and over again!
Lazy (LIVE 1972 COPENHAGEN) Deep Purple 1972 (Mark II): Jon Lord - Organ Roger Glover - Bass Ian Paice - Drums Ian Gillan - Vocals, Harmonica, Congas Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
at 2:06 you can see Ritchie physically tilting/rocking his Marshall full stack back, and forth to get the reverb spring pan to Clang &Clack, and add some intensity to Jon Lords intro
Ritchie is the man. This song has it all: Blues, Rock, Classical, and even a little Jazz. It's just a very special treat to view this performance--thanks for posting.
Larga vida al verdadero Rock And Roll /,,/
Impressive, I can not believe this is 1972, so powerful , so clear, so vivid , so perfect, so harmony, so purple. This has been one of the major engines for our nowadays rock , this is a masterpiece that put in its place, 1972, is a clear proof of the power and the miracle of this band. Purple for ever, Deep and more !.
Definitely THE most talented hard rock band of all time. The secret is that these fellows were influenced by jazz, blues, classical, baroque and God knows what else, while every band since the mid-70"s has mainly been influenced by the final product(s)......such as the Legendary Deep Purple. Thanks for the upload themule66
As we all know, Ritchie played a Marshall full stack i.e. with two speaker cabinets. The top one being angled. Judging by the video and photograpic evidence it looks like the amplifier he used was the type known as a 1959 and I expect he used the standard speaker cabinets for that type of amplifier. These would have been the 1960A and 1960B. He used to joke around with reporters that he knew Jim Marshall and that he went to their factory to test out the gear and that he used a customised mega-Watt power amplifier. He did this to have a laugh at certain other guitarists who claimed to have done this themselves. But back to the main point ... It's fairly certain that (at that time, circa 1972) he used an off-the-shelf 1959 full stack.
+9 Carat Purple You do know the difference between a Leslie Speaker cabinet and a Marshall stack right? The Leslie is the rotating sound you hear at the Intro.
I'm thinking that Deep Purple could possibly be THE greatest "rock and roll" band of all time! Everything is here... intense passion, great talent, raw power...abrasive edge!
This is a real demonstration about the real quality donot need big scenarios, lights or things out of the music.... look just a simple stage.... but what a kind of guys... simply one of the best band rocks ever... Deep Purple forever
Thanks so much for posting this. I played Machine Head to death in the 70s, along with offerings from Hendrix, Grand Funk, Santana, Sabbath, Zep, etc. However, this live version of "Lazy" is absolutely astonishing. Gillan's vocals are smoking, and all of the band members were so locked into the groove in that way where it seems like there's an extra player - Pan or whoever!! It's so cool to see how relaxed Blackmore's hands are even when he's playing the fiercest stuff. What a treat.
True musicians, no band can play like this today. Period, greatest of all time
What about Lil Wayne?

😂😂😂😂
@@michellemysliwiec2975 finally someone liked my Lil Wayne jokes!

I get your humor! Keep laughing...💙❣
So effing cool.
Love all the footage of Mach ll and Mach lll that is on TH-cam. Despite whatever acrimony existed in the band, these guys looked like they were having a blast ! Every clip I watch they just rip it up, so good.......
We wore out the Machine Head 8-Track in my friend's 65 Mustang. Great times.

One of the great rock albums of all time.
one of the greatest singers..

Saw Deep Purple in 1974 in Philadelphia, I was 12 yrs. old and got my first contact high. Nazareth opened for them. What a blast!
This specific guitar solo is Richie Blackmore's finest hour......He was the best in the world at this point. Ian Paice's drumming collaborated with Blackmore's guitar has chemistry that I don't think I've heard before in music (Hard Rock especially). Truly incredible.

This talented, cooperative collaborator turned into the biggest dick in the business.

I love the generosity of Ian Paice, even during a gig he gives his sticks to a demanding member of the audience, a gentleman.
this song can only be played once in a lifetime like this...
Every one had this album back then, what totally amazing footage. WOW, it's so intimate and close.
saw em in 71; my ears are still ringin!! awesome lineup!
The music of Deep Purple never dies!!!
Absolutly fantastic, i just love, so much this old material! Paice flawless, Ritchie unbelieveble, Gillan just awesome, Glover bluesy, Lord solid as allways..
Machine Head is a vastly underated album even by myself. Many and much thanks to uploaders of Deep Purple.
One of my favorite recordings
Mark2 Forever! 💜💜💜
You can easily see how much talent every member of the Band has, something you rarely see today if at all
Wow!!!!! Great music, great musicians, great song!!!!! I wish i was present there;(
Kick ass! My favorite song ever!
Brings back some good memories. A 4' bong fashioned out of bamboo, first hit a guaranteed choker and gagger, after that, smooth elation. Thank You Deep Purple for setting the mood back then into now.
I absolutely LOVE to see live versions of timeless songs when had just been released - this is fantastic!

I learned the keyboard riffs to this song years ago. Once 'perfected' - doors opened to the next level of skill that improved my style a 10 -fold.
Rest in peace. You are the reason I play music, you are simply the best.
love that voice.

love the growling Hammond organ!!
Ernie Boots
This is my favorite rock band of all time. Period.....
Jon Lord working the Hammond B-3 with Leslie speaker, Blackmore with the Strat through a 1959 full stack.........life was good
+aprilwino By this time I'm fairly sure Jon was using Marshall amplification to compete with Ritchie's sound.
YES JON HAD THE MARSHALLS but a 1959 full stack I dint follow?

I forgot how great this band is. Simply awesome!
A statement from his representatives reads simply: "Jon passes from Darkness to Light".
RIP JON LORD :(

This is a real demonstration about the real quality donot need big scenarios, lights or things out of the music.... look just a simple stage.... but what a kind of guys... simply one of the best band rocks ever... Deep Purple forever
The play between Jon Lord and Ritchie is great
Mesmerizing....what a magical piece of music!!
And that's how you play a strat. Blackmore is GOD.
He's one hell of a banjo player.
Thanks so much for posting this.
